I hope the prices plummet so more people can get into legacy.
I tell my brother this all the time. So much he texted me asking if this was my comment lol
I saw a vid from Alpha Investments about a day or so ago and he said the prices of sealed boxes have gone down 40%-60%
Yeah man.
I understand people desiring returns from holding legacy product, genuinely I do. But as a guy who’s excited to play magic with his young daughter, it’s pretty disheartening that a lot of the legacy cards are so incredibly out of reach.
It just feels like there’s a lot of other things people could “invest” in. Why can’t we just have a card game be a card game that we can all enjoy.
@@MS-pw6jxcuz its a COLLECTIBLE card game
@@Whodatk1dyeah bro, it definitely is that. Though I’m not sure the people that coined that term intended cards to end up costing thousands of dollars and gate keeping all the legacy content to people with deep pockets or degenerate “investors”
This is why I proxy reserved list cards. Generally ppl are ecstatic to play a game of their favorite format in paper at least for me locally. They don’t care if the cards are real 👍🏻
Ditto this. Ive been moving almost exclusively into proxies since I can play without paying insane prices...I dont care either whether your cards are real
If you look at reserve list cards over the years this happens every time the economy is bad but it goes way up when the economy is good so it's just relative to economy
Bitcoin for nerd to play with 😊
I imagine the price is going to continue to fall with how the economy is looking, not alot of people can continue to justify having multiple thousands of dollars caught up in cardboard.
Part of the reason for the low price of boxes from "The Dark" (In addition to being pretty weak when compared to other expansions) is that there were no "rares" in the set.
Booster Packs had only 8 cards. Booster Boxes had 60 Booster Packs... or a total of 480 cards per box.
The entire set only had 119 cards.
That's technically true of Arabian Nights and Antiquities. With the exception of Mishra's Workshop, those sets don't have much that's playable, at least by modern standards. The real difference is the supply.
A U1 is essentially a rare in The Dark. A U3 or a C1 (Maze of Ith is the only C1) is an uncommon.
Legacy and Vintage will eventually just drop off the more expensive it gets
Stronghold is one of my favorite sets I have a near-mint volrath stronghold I see it going up in the next 5 years or so
Wizzards should do a survey about whether the reserved list should be abolished...even if I don't know what my decision would be…
I am a collector and also have some foils from the Reserved List. Knowing that these cards are protected from reprints is a good feeling.
On the other hand, the professor (Tolarian Community College) demonstrated years ago with examples that the value of the old cards is virtually unaffected in the case of reprints.
Many greetings from Germany! 🙂
Revised price drop has stalled sin Oct 2022 for badlands.
I didn’t understand why we have the pic around January 21. If it’s coming down it’s maybe should stabilize around price before the huge augmentation.
For me I thinks it’s a mistake to watch the price after Jan 21. The big pic is a no sense for me.
sorry for all the collectors but I can finally play legacy. yay!
I literally just started buying reserve lost cards... wth... placed an order for mox diamond just this morning and bought LED on Wednesday
Which revised cards should i look at buying?
I always laugh at MtG Finance Bros. The dumbest idea ever. TCGs are the only place that collectors try to treat stuff like an old school stock market.
Bears are just bulls waiting lol
Big facts!
Nope ur right. Welcome to reality
Investing in cards is just wrong, buy what you like and need to play the deck you want to play . I mean there are Hobby that cost more than magic and you have a total loss of money you put in . When cards drop more or get a reprint there are more people that can play with you if they like dont see it in negativ way
Everyone who is currently collecting mtg… try sell all your crap immediately cause wizards is pulling a Konami… reprints and more reprints and extra reprints… there will be no value anymore at all… gd luck selling too cause most shops won’t even be interested in most foils now lol…. one thing I learned was never to invest in card games.. only invest in silver and gold….
How much silver and gold you got
im not against them doing it, but it does kinda kill the trading part of the trading card game. Would rather have cheap playable cards to play with then tons of expensive cards that you kinda just dont want to buy because they are expensive for a single card in a deck, or a full playset.
@@muffinman5958 I felt that the high prices ruined the trading part more than anything else. People bought the cards to hold onto and sell. It's been decades since I saw people sit down at a table and look through each other's collections, pick out what they wanted, and negotiated a trade.. especially not without someone trying to pull out a price list.
MTG turned more into a CCG than a TCG once the "finance" people entered the picture.
NOBODY ever does a trade anymore with both people sitting on their phones looking up price trend on every single card. I hate it too@@ralphthegnome
@@ralphthegnome we might not had the price lists in front of us but we generally knew how much something was worth. Vesuvan Doppelganger was worth 2 dual lands for instance.
The reserve list was a mistake
Only one problem. Reprint the reserved list!!! Hear hear!!!
It will never happen sorry
@@NateBullock-ow6on only one problem.
@@NateBullock-ow6on You're not the arbiter of what will or won't happen, nor clairvoyant, sorry. 🙄
I hope they drop by a lot, the legacy is nice but playing with a 5k USD deck seems really too much to me
