Great run through. Seems logical to me to apply aero to gravel bikes. Many gravel rides include a fair bit of tarmac getting to the ride. When on gravel, at least for me, speed easily gets into the +30km/h territory. Finally, as gravel bikes have gotten so good, many of my friends also use them for road with a road wheelset.
The consideration is: if you’re in the market for a new road bike, why wouldn’t you buy an aero gravel race bike and get the versatility that comes with it and a second set of wheels? That’s what I’m doing: BMC Kaius set up primarily as a road bike.
I own both the Exploro Race/Max and the Ostro Gravel. Love em both, but the Ostro Gravel just feels a little sharper and faster when climbing. Are aero bikes a gimmick? Maybe. I've ditched my pure road and gravel bikes and now just have the Ostro Gravel with multiple wheels as one bike to do it all. Pretty smart if you ask me.
wrong.. Ask Dylan Johnson.. T he longer the race you are out on the course the more important it also becomes as saving watts for a longer period of time is very important.
I sell these bikes, I race in cyclocross competitions, so believe me - this is marketing bull$hit. They only look cool, but the rest is nonsense. A proper lightweight bike (such as Specialized Crux) will be faster even on tarmac!
Not at all. I’m 6’4/225lbs and run a Specialized crux off road and on single track daily. Almost 13,000 miles on my Crux, and it’s almost all off road.
Factor’s marketing wants us to believe that making the frame less aerodynamic is more aerodynamically efficient and thus faster at slower speeds. I presume they don’t sell triathlon/tt bikes anymore. The vast majority of triathlon participants ride slower than my gravel speeds. Thus, the $15k tt bike is actually interfering with their performance at 16 mph. Who knew!
Yeah that is a bs claim. Actually aero frames or aero great would benefit more to slower crowd. I guess factor shit tt frame has crap cda and engineering couldn't figure out a better story
What is the very very expensive point of an aero aero gravel bike deep in a forest for example??????? Its something invented by the manufacturers to gain more coin in their pockets? Whats next square wheels to scale hills so you dont roll back down?????😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Ah gravel bikes, still trying to be a thing . There will never be a clearly defined bike between full road and MTB , that has its own VERY distinct characteristics. your either going towards road or towards MTB . A gravel bike never achieves something greater than the sum of its parts , it's always a lesser version of what it borrows from .
Let's be real nobody is a pro here. I have a grave bike its great I have two sets of wheels a road wheel set and gravel set and fits as one bike and I can ride more stuff than a typical road bike, it is my favorite bike in the stable

In my personal opinion, aero gravel means just Road bikes with wider tyre clearances.

I bought BMC Kaius 01 three 3 weeks ago and I am absolutely delighted with this car :)
Great review... Ordered a 2023 Ridley Kanzo Fast.... Fingers crossed... should arrive in the next few weeks 🤞
I have the Pinarello Grevil.... very quick.
The 3T is for sure the best here!
Ridley Kanzo fast with Campy Ekar 1/13 and Campy Levante Weelset. Super fast and comfortable.

Same!
Have you gone 1x or 2x nice bike by the way
@@graemeross1998 2x 9200
Scott Addict Gravel had to be here.
100% agreed. I own one and it's very aero and fast!
They only rate what appears they've "tested"... or were at least loaned from the manufacturers
For the gravel in my area, any bike with clearance
prefer some critical discussion rather than just reading bike's advertisements. also would like to hear what groupsets they're offered with.
No need for an aero bike if you’re gonna wear baggy clothes. we all know that most of the drag is produced by the rider
hahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa . . . holy sh!t you nailed it
You flipped the 3T and the Factor bikes on the description/chapters
I like the 3T stuff a lot.
Terrible company to deal with though.
What’s the deal with the cables popping out of the handle bars.
Good fun on my original 3T Exploro
Great option if, for whatever reason, you can only own one high-performance bike but like to ride on the road and light gravel.
I love the looks of the 3T but can’t really grasp the “value” of it when you can get a much better specced bike cheaper ?
The timestamps are wrong, lads, otherwise great vid.
Just don’t buy a 3T. Poorly assembled and no support after they get your $$$.
How about the canyon gravel bike?
Too many gravel races are almost like road races; I'd like to see them become more technical.....
My guy, just buy an MTB,
gravel cyclists need to learn some trail etiqeutte and not ride trails when theyre muddy.. you know its them because of the deep narrow ruts
9:59 when you can seat back and admire your tyre marks . . . but then realize, holy sh!t, a ghost rider was at your side all along!

2:53 Ridley's Kanzo Fast, if were Pinarello, I would SUE!
money no object? BMC! Money object, also BMC, just not the top end model.

Crux is a nice ride
an aero gravel bike must be the top tier of ridiculous ways throwing cash away ever invented
It's just a Aero road bike with bigger tyre clearance and slightly slacker geometry, it's not exactly ground breaking or that different
Not if you're buying it for gravel and road, so buying one bike instead of two.
Marketing, only marketing for selling unuseful bikes !
Anyone else nervous about taking a comparatively fragile carbon frame off road? Personally, I'd prefer aluminium for gravel and cross.
Not at all. I’m 6’4/225lbs and run a Specialized crux off road and on single track daily. Almost 13,000 miles on my Crux, and it’s almost all off road.
You should talk with XCO riders and what they do with their bikes..
Most MTBs are carbon these days

Man I just take my Canyon Aeroad onto the gravel. 32 gravelking SKs fit and I am quick af on it
3T exploro

lots of 'unspecified speeds'

Gravel racing is gay af!

Gay is not an insult. Think of something different
Sounds like someone's a little bi-curious yet in denial!
@@xtianeskay5166 why do you think an insult was the objective, if I say the sky is blue, I'm being negative?
@@xtianeskay5166 well there you have it, being GAY is something different . . !
