Also the fact that he was almost losing by time would be a perfect "5 minutes until the planet explodes" but those 5 minutes take 10 episodes.

Even their mindset is fit for anime. Fits for how the actual tournament turned out to be:
Gigg-UK. The comeback kid. OG among OG ani-CZcamsrs, left and became a monk. Learned the way of patience and used it to win. Used every other time he has lost as a learning experience and carried that same exp to victory. Typical shonen protag.
JOSH the Anime man (people keep getting his name wrong XD ) Mr. Half-blood prince. The new top dog of the anime CZcamsr scene(kind of, in relation to Garnt). Being the new big shot, he still has lots to learn and it showed during the tournament.
CDawg Virginia. Mister 93%. Get's all the girls. Muda muda muda his way throughout his childhood. Child prodigy but ultimately lost to a former monk because anime rules dictate that patience beats whatever fucking skill an opponent has. Typical antagonist.

When this dropped, I was sick with COVID and to pass the time locked in my bedroom essentially, CZcams and books were there. And when I heard there was a tournament arc with chess, I was stoked.
