    My wife took the class on a Street 500. She fully intended to buy a "sport bike" but when we saw the 750 with upgraded exhaust, only 1200 miles and priced below $6000 she fell in love. We were just out for breakfast, no gear, no nothing...needless to say, I ended up riding it home 🤷🏾‍♂️.

( I just recently supercharged it. It took a whole lot of work, but I managed to pull it off.) word of advice try to find yourself a bike with a low seat height as it will make learning to ride a hell of a lot easier. Another great review! I appreciate your honest, unbiased reviews. Therefore I value your opinion. As I age and have spine problems but refuse to quit riding I have been going to smaller lighter bikes. This may be my next bike. I can't handle the weight of my old full dresser anymore. I have liked the looks of this bike and the performance seems to be as much as I currently need. Most of all it is so light I can manage it. I had Sportsters back in the 70's so I feel like trying something new and different but still in the Harley Davidson line. Any thoughts or suggestions you have I would appreciate. Keep on keeping on with the great reviews!

You're right about getting the younger rider and/or new rider on HD. That is how brand loyalty starts. Got to root for the home team. HD for 2020 is suppose to have a liquid cooled Street Fighter. Where were these bikes when I had hair on top of my head? Just an old guy on a cruiser now.

Couldn't get too far and had to drop out because I was killing my legs trying to power walk it or get my feet up on the pegs. Got the bruises to show for it. Something about having to lift my knees higher than my hips to put them on the pegs just did not work.

    My first new bike was a 2017 HD Street 750 that I got back in March 2017. I'm 6'2" 195lbs and this bike is a blast to ride! The mid controls help to give great confidence in the curves, this bike handles great.
    I added a Two Brothers Racing slip on, V&H naked air intake, V&H fuelpak tuner, Mustang seat, extended mirrors, Daymaker look-alike headlight, HD mini floor boards, HD grips. Red line is over 8000 rpm. This bike hauls ass!
    I'm going to get it dyno'd next year. Some one else that has the same year bike and the same performance mods dyno'd at 70hp so hopefully I see that.
    This bike is great fun, it's not only similar but is based on the same Revolution engine from the V- Rod. This is the Revolution X.

      Bought mine june of 17 and currently have 13k miles on her.

  • @danielmolloy7169
    @danielmolloy7169 Před 5 lety +7

    In Australia we have something called the learner approved motorcycle scheme, which limits riders to a small pool of bikes usually around 250cc for the first year, with a few exceptions. If you’re into cruisers the options are limited to the 250cc Honda shadow, 650cc v-star, the street 500 and a few others. For that reason the bike is a good fit for the Australian market, we can pick them up fairly cheap and sell them again fairly easily when the year is up, and all things considered they’re pretty fun and easy to ride.

    Harley came out with this bike primarily because the EPA is cracking down on their fleet wide fuel economy. And because they want to attract younger riders. Sadly, dealers are making every effort to steer customers away from these new entry level bikes. I know because I went to a Harley dealership specifically to buy a Street 750 and was all but forced into the Sportster 883 instead. I dunno if it was a commission issue or what. But the salesman’s pitch was all about steering me away from the bike I went there to buy. I did buy the 883, mainly because this dealership would not even show me a Street 750, and the next nearest dealership was 2.5 to 3 hours drive away. And I like the 883, but I was actually angry when I left the dealership because of how I was treated. I knew what I wanted, I went there to get it and they just wouldn’t sell it to me. If that’s going on at other dealerships as well, then the Street 750 is doomed.

    It does have a tach, if you press the button next to the odometer it will cycle through different readings where the first one I believe is a tach w/ gear indicator, trip miles A and B, and distance to empty

    I think the smaller more affordable fun bikes like this are going to be the big thing. Now that "normal" bikes are well over 10k out the door... some smaller, fun, affordable standard bikes are the thing. Think i would pick the Guzzi V7 over the HD... but still a cool bike.

    I can see this bike would be good in a city and for a newer, younger rider. It's a bold step for Harley Davidson. I remember them trying to sell smaller and less expensive bikes in the past. I believe they offered a 350cc and a 750cc motorcycle at one time. I think they even rebadged Puch motorcycles (scooters). No matter, they aren't the bikes that people think of with Harley-Davidson. Coming out with a bike with this size and displacement seems like a very risky venture. The domestic market segment for bikes is diminishing, and there's just a huge difference in reputation for import bikes in this category. The Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, and Yamaha really know this niche and have experience in it with an extensive reputation for building quality. It's going to be a tough slog for Harley. I have doubts these bikes will hold value on the used market.

    Harley needs to try again with the small bikes and stick it out. They need a full line of bikes including "entry level/small". If you make a good one that's stylish, performs and is affordable, people will buy it. Something in the 6-9k range. Think something a kid right out of college can afford (not much) to compete with Royal Enfield (who are crushing it in that demographic) and entry level offerings from the big four. This bike needed a tach and more appealing styling (i.e retro--think 1960s Sportster) to capture the youth market. I think the main reason people didn't buy them is they were a tad too expensive still and the styling was a bit wonky with the tank up high and flat bars that should have been raked back more. Engine sounds good. It's a shame they gave up on it after two years, but the new CEO wanted to go "Luxury" and make a 900cc liquid cooled bike for 18k out the door (Ahem..Nightster) instead. I'd like to take one for a spin someday; looks like a playful and fun ride which you can't say about many of their other bikes. One thing about HD's like this; if the "Reeeeeal HARLEY Guys" hate it (Vrod, Street) you know there must be something good about it! lol

    The Street Harley Davidson's were/are made for the Asian market. HD decided to sell them in the US as an afterthought. They were designed to be manufactured in Asia and sold in Asia but in the end, they make some in the US for US consumption.

    I have had my street 750 since June 2017 brand new only 2 miles on it and after 6 month it developed an oil leak from the shift shaft that after 3 trips to the shop has yet to be resolved, the left rear turn signal broke off just from speed bumps, and there is rust gathering on the left fork... other then that the bike runs decent enough for commuting... however once I get it paid off a little more I will be trading up.
