Should you sell on Etsy as an artist or creative? My honest opinion.

- I thought I would make a video all about Etsy today. Love it or hate it, Etsy can be controversial and confusing to many. I have been selling on Etsy for 8 years now with many different products so I have experienced all the ups and downs of the platform.
Is Etsy right of you as an artist, maker or creative? I explore all of the pros and cons of selling on Etsy and you can decide if it makes sense for your business. We are all different and there is not only one way to run your art business. I hope this helps a little bit. Please comment if you have more questions or I missed something.

Please leave your questions in the comments and I can help answer them for you. I would love to hear from you.
Have advice for fellow artists or entrepreneurs? Please leave those comments as well. We are here to support each other! :)
Thanks for watching!

Etsy is a good place to start. See what is liked and what sells. Eventually you’ll want your own website. I’m selling digital art for junk journals while working on my art skills.
Hi from UK Michelle...I've just started watching your videos and they are very helpful...so thanks..also I would like to say what a lovely clear, slow, articulate voice
You have when talking...so many people speak so fast in their videos that it's hard to take in what they're saying...I am just restarting my design business in greetings cards and am thinking of buying procreate and a large iPad (when I can afford it!) and getting into surface pattern design...so it's a lot of learning...I had an Etsy shop for a while and did ok but I think you really have to buy ads these days to get seen...anyway good luck with all your businesses...😇🇬🇧
Thank you for your kind comment! 🥰 I love my iPad and procreate, it is definitely a great investment if you can swing it. It is a lot of learning but that is also the fun part for me. 😊
Thank you for this video Michelle, oh my gosh this was crazy for me- I have been writing you a long comment from time to time (was too busy with my one year old to be able to write and send it in one go) asking you to make this exact video and I opened CZcams meaning to send that comment now only for this video to pop up!... Crazy to me haha.
Anyway this was truly really helpful thank you so much! I am seriously absolutely buzzing from finding you and also beginning to start an art business (I'm just in the thinking, planning and practising art stages) and you make me feel SO inspired and excited!! I've watched almost all your videos whenever I get a little time to myself (I don't go on media at all otherwise) and it brings me such joy and excitement. I really enjoy your chattiest videos and hearing you be inspired because that is very inspiring haha. I could listen to you talk all day lol. Also I really felt so excited for you when I started seeing ads pop up on your videos (I normally obviously don't like ads lol) congratulations :) I wish you so much success I am so rooting for you.
I do have a question actually- The first thing I would like to do for my art business is selling art prints on etsy, though I need to first create the art, I would use a fine art printing company. I was wondering if I should make a few art print pieces first, them post them all onto etsy from the beginning/ or something like once a week add a new listing.. or to just start my shop and list them one at a time as I make them and they are ready? Though I expect it to take me many months to make one with my busy life.
All the best to you dearest,
Dasha (the 22 year old stay at home mum to my 1 year old 😊💗💗💗)
Hi Dasha, thanks for your comment. It makes me so happy to know my videos might help some people! ❤️ For your art prints you should work on creating 10-15 pieces to start and post your images on social and also film and photograph your process as you make them. People love to see the process and will connect with you. (I need to be better at this myself, lol) Then when you have them done list all your works on Etsy and launch your shop and then keep posting them all to social again. You can do an announcement post and then keep making new art and posting and adding to Etsy as you go. You should have at least 12-20 listings on Etsy to,start so people have something to see when they go to your shop. If you only have a few they won’t feel it’s worth coming back or following your shop. I hope that makes sense. Cheering you on! ❤️😊
@@michellejozina Thank you so much, this helps a lot 🤗💓💓💓
Thanks for your information about Etsy. I was told to do a little job making my things. I’m retired and my professional advisor said to do it for some pocket change.
Thanks for sharing you experience and insight, Michelle!
Most welcome. 😊
Thank you for sharing your knowledge Michelle (-: Marion 🎉
You are so welcome! 😊
Great information! Have you noticed a decrease in traffic to your shop since Etsy rolled out new policies over the past couple of weeks?
I am just getting my shop up and running again so I can’t really say but my mom has a shop and felt her sales have actually gone up in the last few weeks.
@@michellejozina what is the niche?
She does home decor products using print on demand

I’ve notice a bit slow down since I stopped running ads.
