The new Mario sounds exactly like how younger Charles sounded in the 90s durring the N64 days, some of the lines and grunts brought me straight back to Mario Kart 64 or Mario Party 1.
This is EXACTLY what I thought while watching this.
Mad props to the VA. He’s got the potential and has nailed it. Let’s just hope he improves upon it like Charles!

Mario was always surreal. I mean, is a plumber fighting a turtle king that spits fire. But the francjise never use that side of it. So Wonder is just Mario universe at its best!

As a mario nerd (and kaizo player) I was most excited when I saw that this game let's you kick items up. We haven't had upthrows since super mario world
i feel like the upthrow has a lot of implications about the way nintendo designed this game. we'll see when the game releases but i'm excited to see wonder pick up back where world left off
Maybe I’m just being hopeful but it feels like a Mario World sequel more than ever. It sounds crazy, but I think this is the first non-NEW series Mario side-scroller since Mario World (minus 1 GB Mario Land and the Mario Makers.)
IMO the New series felt pretty sterile overall, so Wonder feels real fresh, at least from what I can see.
@@solomon9655 The New Series felt really innovative with the DS one and the Wii one got a lot of hype for four-player, but the two games after that felt too much like Wii (2 even re-using a lot of assets and soundtrack while the gimmick was less exciting). It started cool but definitely wore out its welcome.

No dream team and bowsers inside story feels pretty drug fueled. Literally in bowsers inside story the games warp pipes intersect in bowsers stomach.

After watching the Direct this morning, I realized I made a terrible mistake. I ASSURED someone online that Yoshi wouldn't be "Easy Mode" given the difficulty of the Yoshi's Island titles. Now I have nothing but egg on my face. :-(
All you have to do is literally open your eyes. They even said it in the presentation.
While this looks like it will be incredibly easy for people who play platformers a lot, this seems like the type of game thats going to get a new generation of kids into 2D platformers. Just seems like a casual gamers paradise and I think thats awesome.
I really like that there's badges that make the game harder like the invisible badge, it'll give us more to chew on.
You have to remember that all of this footage is only of the first hour of the game. Later levels might ramp up the difficulty more.
Well Mario games are always easy near the beginning but I’m pretty sure later on in the game it will start to get difficult

I have a feeling that back in the 80s and 90s, 2D Mario Platformers were meant to resemble hand drawn cartoons. So it makes me super happy to see a 2D Artstyle to complement the 2D Platforming. It's no WarioLand Shake Dimension/Shake It, but the Artstyle looks absolutely beautiful and fitting for a Kingdom themed after Flowers.
I'm so sorry that that abomination of a title is what you know Wario Land: Shake It! as.

2D Mario is beating a dead horse. They've all played the same since New Super Mario Bros DS. It might look cleaner with new animations and the transformations, but it's 99% the same core gameplay loop as 2D Mario has been. Odyssey was a breath of fresh air, and they really should just stay with that formula going forward.

A little disappointed that characters aren’t different from each other like peach’s temporary floating ability or Luigi’s higher jump so there would be variety in character picks but I’m sure this game will be awesome nonetheless!
I think they went with that because of the badge system they’re implementing. I think if you incorporate each character also playing differently and the badge system it probably becomes a balancing nightmare during multiplayer.
The badge system makes up for it tbh

Got a chance to play this at Nintendo Live in Seattle for about an hour - let me just say, this is the real deal. A ton of fun, and some of the freshest 2D gameplay I've played in some time. I'd be shocked if this wasn't in the 90's cumulatively on Metacritic come October.

Personally, I say if you're getting these opportunities to go play or see games early and you want to do it, go for it man! If I need to wait a few days for an upload I'll live. You put so much work into what you do, you deserve these cool experiences!

This kinda sold me on the game, I wasn't really going to get it, but playing with friends across the internet sounds like a good buy.
This game looks beautiful, the art style is such a nice break from same style of the new mario games. the story, while containing bowser wanting to take the magic power item to rule, is done in a really unique way. The fact he becomes the caslte is pretty neat. This looks fun and i can't wait to play with friends.
Am I the only one who's strugglingto differentiate this from NSMB art style? Was hoping for a stylistic shift á la Mario Sunshine, but to me the direction looks veryyy similar to what 2d Mario's been doing for nearly 20 years.

I've been a Mario fan since 1986 and I was already excited for a new side scrolling Mario. After seeing more of the gameplay footage, it looks like they drew kinda heavily on the OG games. So now I'm really excited to play this one.

It’s crazy that this is the first real new 2d Mario game since new super mario bros on the ds in like 2006. Super hyped.
I was never really into the New Super Mario Bros games, but this catches my eye because the art style has that hint of early Super Nintendo pre rendered graphics and I love it.
From the footage I’ve seen, you don’t have to reach the top of the flag pole to get the wonder seed at the end. You do need to reach the top of the flag pole for level completion.
The visuals alone have gripped me on this game, glad to hear your thoughts on the game!

The one thing I saw that I kind of wish the game had was online co-op. Being able to play through the entire game online with my siblings would be cool since we all live so far away. For clarification I still think the game is going to be awesome I just think the addition of that feature would be cool.
It will have 4 player co-op❤
There actually is sort of online co-op. You each have your own progress and will appear as ghosts and not be solid, but you can help each other out with things like items and you can revive each other.
You can still all play the game through together, helping each other when you die and giving each other power ups, you just won't be able to throw each other into pits like the other games 😅

Glad Nintendo Live let 1000s of us play over the weekend. I was able to play a few levels and got to try the drill powerup. The bubble one I want to try, it reminds me of Bubble Bobble.
Absolutely do more videos like this. Even if only every second or third video is a completion video, that would still be more than 99% of us will ever do in our lifetimes. And there are plenty of other cool things that you do, like the FPS podcast.

Between the upward throwing of objects from world, and Yoshi's canonical invincibility and the timed bubble mechanics from Yoshi's Island, this feels like they took a lot of cues from older Mario games and I like that.

This game comes out 3 DAYS BEFORE MY BIRTHDAY!!! So it's perfect timing and I'll most likely be able to play it Day 1 and it'll be a game I can't put down. This is seriously going to be the best 2D Mario games. It's gonna BE SO MUCH FUN. I cannot contain my hype and somebody better start working on how we can time travel to October.
