  • Everquest Project 1999 Playthrough, starring Leobyn the Dwarf Paladin. I'm roleplaying my way, with a Class and Race I am totally unfamiliar with. This is NOT an instructional video. Watching this may only make you more ignorant as an EQ player . . . I stay in-character for 100% of the playthrough. This is Everquest as it was in 1999. Down-time is a thing, so I speed up resting, I hope it doesn't ruin the immersion.

For Brell’s sake, hotkey Lay-Hands. Put that on your hotbar. It’s a full heal. Target yourself and hit it if you are about to die.
Do the bone chip quest in your guild hall, you’ll get gear. If you don’t get a shield from the bone quest, buy one (check the spell vendor near the bone chip quest guy), then hotkey the Bash skill and start bashing every fight.
If you can, create a macro to bash, add Taunt to the macro as soon as you get the taunt skill.
Start killing rats in the tunnel near the bank. Four giant rat pelts gets you a cloak at the warrior guild.
Use your money to buy bags until you have a full set. Keep a long sword and buy sharpening stone at the armorer, then sharpen the sword to make it slightly better.
Around level 5, with a few gold in your pockets take the boat to Freeport, head to Ro desert and look at the vendors near the zone. Look for +dex rings on the vendors and buy a pair. Also look for cracked and pristine carapace, buy one of each.
Head back to Butcherblock and kill everything in the newbie zone no matter what they con. Look for worker scarabs and kill them until you loot two carapaces and two legs. Keep killing skeletons for bone chips and keep doing the quest. You’ll start filling out armor slots doing this quest.
Do the scarab armor quest at the warrior guild. It’s the best armor you will get for a while.
At level 7 head to GFay and start killing orcs. Keep orc belts and lego pads for exp and armor in the Kaladim warrior guild.
Ignore skunks. Your CHA is already low and will get lower when they attack you. Will kill your vendor prices.
Although goblins drop weapons, food/drink, booze, and bags, you also take a faction hit with many goblins on Norrath. I just ignore the gobs in the newbie area. It’s very convenient not getting killed at low levels by random goblins while exploring the different zones.
The krags also have factions at other zones. I ignore them as well. Best to ignore them.

Thank you. I got the inspiration to do an in-character video after remembering the great experiences I had while playing Star Wars Galaxies and EverQuest 2. It was easier to roleplay in those games. I struggled in this one. How much does a Dwarf Paladin have to say while chain killing goblins and other creatures outside Kaladim? So I’ve been thinking of continuing this in-character play through, but in a different way. Instead of real-time commentary from my character, I plan on writing a story to tell while playing the game and mixing in real-time interactions. Thank you for checking out the video!
