Love this. I got married in Jamaica (23 years ago) and my friend who was with me got braids. She is white and the lady was great about it but others were saying how she was doing something so wrong , etc so until I started watching your videos I thought what she did was wrong. I started wearing a bonnet, because of you, to sleep in. I have been wearing a protective hairstyle with a head scarf for many years now. I loose my hair because of health/medical issues. So, I wear scarves, head-wraps and will be starting to wear turbans. I’m protecting what hair I have left and want to look beautiful with an array of options to accomplish that. Its sad that ignorant people try so hard to make people feel bad when they literally done nothing wrong...i can definitely relate...i have natural curly hair (probably like 3a curls) and its very long (down to belt) so i could understand the part about not having to get up, rewet your curls, add a leave in or gel, then diffuse......like it gets so aggravating refreshing your curls every day that u dont wash them. Having them little braids in the front probably made things so much easier from one wash to the next!!!!
I had almost waist long red hair when my hubby and I went on a Caribbean cruise and I can tell you: I had braiders calling after me on the streets wanting to braid my hair! Would someone have the audacity to tell these women they shouldn't have offered? By the 3rd island, with some encouragement from my husband I agreed to let someone braid my hair. And they were fantastic! So sweet! And didn't try to make the braids tight to damage my fine hair. It was such a great experience. We enjoyed each other's company and I was so happy I left a nice tip. Win/win! ❤ Why can't people just let us extroverts enjoy other people and cultures?

I was in Cozumel last week. A lady stopped me because I was trying to walk around with my hair in my face. I was afraid of backlash & nearly didn't let her braid my hair, but because of that fear, I had her make a headband out of my hair. One braid. Its adorable & I love it. Now Im home & I want to keep it like this, or like the girl in this video. People won't even help me find someone to do it because I'm white, with board straight hair. 😢
