    Now put a small solar cell on top connected to a small motor that turns the whole rig so each plant will get equal sunshine. No need for a switch, plus a large enough cell can run the pump too.

    • @zysis
      @zysis Před 28 dny +10

      @@DenRoedeMogM It's made from UPVC which is basically salts and oil product. The material has a high porosity which means pores. Those pores get mold growing/bacteria and yep, VERY unhealthy over long term.
      The pipe he's using is core or sandwich meaning it has a skin inside and outside but is filled with low grade recycled material. We are not talking BPAs we are talking highly toxic carcinogens which can contain lead.
      If you would like the true chemical that is unhealthy within the UPVC life cycle it would certainly be dioxins. In some European countries the use of UPVC in clean water supply is limited or banned.

    I don’t think that you can ever get away from micro plastics. Your fleece jackets, blankets, microfibre cloths, all the shrink wraps in packaging contribute to it’s proliferation. All your electronic gadgets etc etc etc. it’s intertwined with us now. Even your gardening tools, bags strings and rope. It’s already in our foods. Basically any where there’s plastic, it’s going to be present. Open your eyes and look closely at everything and it will be there.

PVC most certainly shouldn't be used in food grade and UPVC (blue) is used in high pressure water carrying but the moment you cut it, you've lost the glaze that makes it possible to carry water. I've made all forms of pipe over 40 years. The BPAs in the lettuce would get more and more toxic over time and it's a great way to get liver cancer.

Some comments such a using a dark container instead of a clear one to combat algae is correct. As for using electricity to power the pump you know there are solar pumps. People who claimed to be so concerned about microplastic should take every bit of plastic out of their house(such as insulation on electrical wires, electrical receptacles, tvs, plumbing lines, appliances), vehicles(dash, door panels, wiring insulation, seat covers), shoes(soles, insoles, laces), and clothing(especially synthetic fleece) for a start. Also don't forget the packaging for food. Of course you can use animal products if you prefer and be called a murderer

      I can't see a few birds having the occasional drink being the leading loss of water in that system.

    I never imagined using a hand drill as a jigsaw. Other than that, I'd imagine that Totally Handy Hank (here) would likely be much better off saving up the extra $20 to purchase an actual jigsaw. I'm pretty sure his "cuts" would come out looking much nicer.
