man i love poirier's style. nothing more compelling than a guy who can out-brawl every single person on planet earth
not Khabib :D
@@oBarbinha well yeah. i'll clarify: poirier can out-brawl every other brawler on planet earth, of which khabib is not

Poirier scaring Holloway out of exchanges is absolutely nuts
15 lbs is a lot
@@DigDootyDitches 10*
@@user-nv2wt4hi8t no 15+. 155 is just what they weighed in at
@@DigDootyDitches Is it documented anywhere that Poirier had 15lbs on Holloway?
@@user-nv2wt4hi8t think outside the box bud. You really think poirier only has 10 lbs advantage in this fight
Both Poirier and Holloway showed such elite level MMA boxing in this fight. I’m surprised this isn’t talked about more as one of the best fights of all time
Dustin vs hooker was much better of a fight, best fights of all time cant be so one sided
It is a great fight IMO. But it might lack some drama. None of these two were really dropped on the ground. You see those fight that people remember, there are times in the fight when one of the fighters were almost put away. They got dropped and they got back on their fight. Back and forth they go. That’s the most exciting part for most of the people.
Holloway's way too reliant on his chin. He takes so many clean strikes to the head its a miracle he hasn't already been dropped.
I think the same about the Poirier vs Hooker fight. Did u see it ? Its such a brutal and competitive brawl, where both guys left some lifetime in the cage.
Cause porier max hooker all got into so many brawls the past 3 years it gets convoluted lol
Dustin's boxing can go from counterstriker , to combination puncher , to brawler , to swarmer (volume) , his boxing is a thing of beauty , and he showcased exactly that in this fight he used every part of it against Max , countered when Max pressured him , traded when they got into the center , and pressured when he hurt Max.
This in my opinion is why he is the best boxer in mma, or at least the most versatile.
Fax. He’s a great switch hitter too
Fact that this card only sold 80k ppvs is nuts, this is one of the best striking match up of all time.
Fr and kelvin vs izzy was on the same card too
@@truthsouls2003 yes
@@truthsouls2003 yes
@@masonbrashear6428 you have a point but your decision extremely dumb and childish. If you and everyone starts pirating the ppvs, UFC will pay them even less and this time they'll have better cause because fans do not pay to watch fights.
Don't do this stupid sht.
@@masonbrashear6428 if you pirate, the fighters make even less. You also could be admitting to a felony.
Poirier's defensive boxing and counters are beautiful.
This fight was probably the peak of DP's career IMO.
Conor 2
@@casgal2431 Conor might be the biggest hype wise.
but if you're talking who's the best fighter dustin beat, then it's max.
imo the best fighter dustin beat was Holloway, Alvarez & Gaethje.
Doesn't matter who he beats, it's how he beats them and if he takes lessons from his losses, which he very much did
Huge repsect for Dustin, what a guy
@@fanofmma100 "Conor might be the biggest hype wise"
also
"imo the best fighter dustin beat was Holloway, Alvarez"
Yeah it's not like conor beat dustin holloway and alvarez lol
@@lea-rl4eu Honestly i think Eddie is a better fighter than conor. dude beat killers like RDA, Gaethje, Curan, Pitbull, Chandler, Pettis, Aoki, Melendez etc he had the worst gameplan known to man vs conor
Still to this day one of my favorite if not my favorite fight of all time. The skill dustin displayed was so tight, so technical. Max "the best boxer in the ufc" was also quoted saying "He's blocking weird" here lol. If only Dustin's ground game was a step above, he was the closest to ever getting Khabib. I hope you win against Chandler buddy.
A lot of people just look back at this fight and think “A lightweight beating up a featherweight” but that’s not what it is. This was Max when he was on top of his game. Back when the “Blessed Express” was in full effect and Dustin derailed that train. Everyone was doubting DP going into this fight
Good example of how power makes a difference. In terms of boxing it probably wasn't that far apart, but the impact Dustin had with his punches just made a such a difference.
Man. Sucks how this fight is so overlooked because we were all tired after going crazy watching KG v Izzy.
People don't give Dustin the respect he deserves for breaking Holloways streak, yeah you can say its at 155 not 145, but Holloway was probably also very motivated for that belt, you know he wanted to win. At the time Max seemed unstoppable, I mean jesus look at his record.
I mean most of us know he had already beaten Holloway at 145 with a sub I think if I'm remembering correctly so I figured he'd get him out of there similarly
5:50 That was sick. I hadn’t noticed that exchange before.
Can’t wait to see Dustin fight again.
I was watching this match the other day, that was a complete onslaught by porier, but Holloway held its own with pure heart, the power was just something else
Holloway’s technique and durability helped him in the later rounds. His distance management with a reach disadvantage is as elite as it gets
@@frewtlewps1152 Max is tall,he has less arm reach but he makes up with height.
@@alpe6228 lol this comment is so stupid. he's still at a reach advantage lmfao. height doesnt make up for sht. it might improve leverage. but the overall reach is the same
ur probably a DP fan trying to minimise how many advantages he had in this fight to make this win seem better.
i like DP, but the reality is. that he was at a huge size advantage in this fight, and still struggled bad against max who was much smaller.
Max got his a*s handed to him for the second time by Poirier.
@@fanofmma100 lol Dustin dominated Holloway even on featherweight. He's just better, deal with it.
i love this chanel , the rewinds and the build up to the fights Are great
Man still suprised how much punishment Max took and still could hit the gas pedal and put the pressure on dustin. Truly one of the 45 goats to move up a weight class he isn’t experienced in and bang it out with the best striker in the division.
5:16 max was about to fall but saved by the cage. WOW. To be able to knock down max!!!!
Its strange how a guy who relies on his ability to block punches with face and cardio was so dominant at a particular weight class. Max really hits the wall when he fights other good strikers that don't gass out in 25 mins
I feel like he hits the wall when he’s met in the middle and his opponent doesn’t back away and interrupts his rhythm. Once max gets rolling it’s already over. The striking numbers in this fight were basically the same but Dustin landed the more powerful and bigger shots
He's a cutbaby that walks around at 190 and fights midgets
Dumb comment if his style was as simple as that he would never be world champion and defend it 4 times
@@Gleeshhh For some reason people don't remember how close this fight was, Holloway almost TKO'd Dustin twice
Utterly stupid comment considering he's only lost to Volkanovski other than Dustin
you can clearly see the power difference, every time Poirier landed it shook Max and when Max land Poirier’s head don’t even move
Insane how Max was still standing. He was taking in heavy hits non stop and thought he'd be done, but still managed to hurt Dustin.
Definitely has impressive durability.. not many people walk away from Dustin when he smells blood. But max did , and even had a moment or two..
Great editing man does Max have a chin
Hope he don’t get the tony treatment
It’s inevitable tho, unless he retires but I don’t see him retiring without wanting to be on top unless his kid or wife convince him to, or we’ll just continue seeing him do what he does, whatever happens gotta love the guy
At the least for Max he won the belt and defended it decisively 3 times while also arguably having a win over Volk (he did lose decisively in fights 1 and 3, of course), who's now P4P number 1 and also entering the conversation for featherweight GOAT, so he's got that safety net in his mind forever, unlike poor T-Ferg.
1 thing never changes - Dustin constantly checking his shorts 🩳 to be sure this is not dreams.
Absolutely love both these guys. That was a great fight too. Max put up a good fight . He was just outgunned
Love both these fighters man!
This fight is right up there for best fights for me. Two dog just going at it, you got a volume guy and an power guy both clean with it and technical to the gills.
I was so conflicted with this fight. I'm from LA so I love NY Cajun bro Poirirer. But I spent 9 years in Hawaii so it's my second home. Both are great guys. Nobody got knocked out so I was happy.
Dois guerreiros que só travam guerra no octógono. Dustin and Max Brasil 🇧🇷 love you. Brasil love big fighters
My favorite fighter to watch ever regardless of combat sport
man i feel like this fight is slipping under people's radar just cause it followed izzy vs gasteleum. This fight is one of the best of all time IMO (top ten) and honestly just a testament as to how dustin literally only has bangers.
Bro, this was an amazing fight. Regardless of what you think of either fighter comparatively; they're both legends.
I'm glad I got to exist at a time where this fight happened. Respect to both warriors.
Not gonna lie, this was one of those so exciting fights to warch, from the buildup to the actual fight, I always had Poirier. He just hits harder. One of my favorite fights of all time.
You should do a video on Max's chin. All those shots and he Kattars best shot too that usually puts ppl to sleep. Would be a cool video
It's crazy how much of a power difference there is between FW and LW. I'm guessing it's cause there's a 15lb gap between WW and LW, so would be small WWs are cutting down to LW to get a size advantage.
changing of weight class can absolutely change fighters career
Dustin finished him at 145 too. And I went to this fight, seen these dudes several times including fight night , I was 5 rows deep in the audience, and I'm telling y'all, there is NO meaningful size difference in Dustin and max... It's just an excuse that fans of Holloway pushed so much, people just finally bought .. Dustin was a 145er for years just like max . He moved up because his durability suffered, not because he couldn't make weight . Max is one of them guys that can cut big weight and keep their cardio and durability..
Brutal fight
This is my favorite fight of UFC

Max Holloway is clearly the toughest guy in the ufc
His biggest attributes are his unusual stance & the weird way he throws his punches...what he has can't be taught making one of a kind
There are welterweights that would've been knocked down and maybe out by some of those bombs Dustin landed on Max. The best is Blessed 🤙🏻
Both elite both in their prime
I just remembered when Max was saying "I'm the best boxer in UFC baby !!" 😂
This has me even more pumped for Dustin vs Justin 2 BMF Champ !
Poirier has broken chins, destroyed careers and shattered the bones of some of the most elite fighters in the UFC, not enough credit is given to him
Nate Diaz didn’t want none of DP.
Amazing fight and I’m not just saying that because Dustin is my favorite fighter, it’s because they threw down and I like max as well but you gotta like both guys and say they delivered
There isn’t a loss in this game. There are only two beasts😤

Diamond pressure
bruh one thing about poirier , he never backs down its kill or be killed and he got that dog in him.
7:18 did Max lost a tooth or something?? 😯
I think it was just spit, not a tooth
It was a crazy risk that Holloway took. Putting his win streak and momentum on the line against the most elite striker in that division? Badass move. And he held his own.
He didn't hold his own, he got battered by a guy who bottles every title fight he's in.

Max Holloway should move to lightweight in my opinion. Yes he lost his fight against Dustin at lightweight because Max was committed to move down to featherweight after that fight no matter the result. If Max determines permanently to move to lightweight then he will put up some muscle. Max fighting at lightweight will be exciting as he can face guys like Dan Hooker, Justin Gaethje, RDA, Rafael Fiziev, Mateuz Gamrot, Beneil Dariush, Michael Chandler, Islam Makhachev etc
I honestly don't see him being anywhere close to beating islam makachev and I don't think the fight is gonna be close if it happens but Holloway vs fiziev ,rda ,chandler or Gaethje is gonna be really good
@@truthsouls2003 I too think Islam will be way too tough for Max to deal
@@truthsouls2003 Yeah I think if nothing else Max can rack up some serious money fighting some big lightweight names.
Without putting on weight he almost TKO'd Dustin twice
@@ImagoofybaII i don't know what fight you were watching but dustin kinda did the same thing to Holloway but worse
Idk why it doesnt show the check hook that dropped poirier in the 1st. Also alot of those strikes didnt land when Rogan screaming, " hes all over him"
That was a war

i love max but i cringed at joe saying "theres never been a better featherweight champion" after his second title defense
Man Poirier hits like and nuke, always buy his ppv the man is a 💎
aw man u can't leave out the point to the center of the cage...
Max realized the mistake he made coming up a weight class when he got hit with them bombs
I can hear the brain damage already when Max was speaking. "Nummonpaofahpao" yikes

Dustin's beating Max, then current featherweight champion who would rack up 3 title defences and 2 brutal beatings over the FGOAT, Aldo, in this fashion, is why I always hold Poirier's interim belt in much higher regard than other interim belts.
As he should have? He's much bigger, if anything Holloway was impressive considering he was close to tko'ing Dustin twice
@@ImagoofybaII He was? When, please? Time stamp because I only saw Holloway wearing Poirier down with Volume, I never saw him close to TKO'ing Poirier, unlike Poirier who was wobbling Holloway left and right and would have dropped him if not for the fence.
@@user-nv2wt4hi8t It's not in this video but the full fight is for free on youtube, and im not saying Dustin didn't win or didn't hurt Holloway. But even Dustin himself said that he thought the fight might be over when Holloway was teeing off on him against the fence
@@ImagoofybaII Oh, I agree, that's what I say with the volume strikes where he was noticeably wearing Dustin down (ala Ortega) in 3 and 4, but I never felt like Dustin was about to be out of it.
@@user-nv2wt4hi8t Yeah, that's why i specified w/ "tko", but yeah obviously not as bad as Ortega
From that day max permanently moves to feather weight division 😂

Everyone loses eventually. Poirier is still the Man. He's been around, won some, lost some.
I recently rewatched this fight. It's funny, in my memory porier overwhelmed halloway early and slowly beat him down over the last few. But the reality was much different.
