Hats off to you Mark for a thorough presentation of a wonderful whiskey. A head to head with Redbreast 12 Cask Strength would have been an interesting match up. IMHO, the Madeira finishing would have put the Blue Spot on top by a hair. To your health 🥃!!!
Thanks Lorenz! Much appreciated! You could be right though for some reason I don’t care for RB12 or the 15 for that matter. I noticed lots of whiskytubers did the blue vs rb12 - I didn’t even know! I figured RB27 would be a zany match up hahaha. Cheers🥃🥃🥃🥃
Wow interesting video. Had the privilege to taste the bluespot in Scotland. Quite the experience. However the yellow one still my favorite. Very rare. Sometimes he shows itself. Cheers
@@WhiskyWhistle Thnks mark. Gonna be interesting. Looking forward to the video. One thing I think I mentioned before that i bought a red spot the first day last year in Edinburgh. It sat in my backpack for three weeks all the way through Scotland including Islay 😂🥃 waiting to be added to my collecting. It got me worried sometimes to keep it one piece. Cheers buddy
Interesting comparison Mark :-) Btw yeah Ethanol + Water @ 48vol% is most viscous but a whisky @ CS has a higher ratio of long chain compounds (from the wood) to volume which also affects the viscositiy...
@@WhiskyWhistle hahaha - it's a pricy bottle, that's for sure! There are going to be many interesting releases coming out of Irland in the next years 😀
The spots are making their presence felt. I haven't tried all the spots but the entire lineup seems to offer something special and unique. I've had the Green, Yellow, Blue and just recently managed to order the Gold spot which I will open and try in the future. That blend in the end had me cringe for a second but it sounds like it hit the mark Mark. Very expensive and hard to get any CS Irish single pot offerings. Cheers.
Excellent comments Rohit and I look forward to hearing your thoughts on Gold Spot. Hopefully it’ll turn up here like most things do about 8-12 months late. Haha I am glad it gave you a jolt. Amazingly they fit well together. They’re both a little unbalanced(RB27 with age and Blue Spot 7 with (fortified)wine maturation) and they all worked together in one glass. It was a nice end to my night finishing that! Cheers🥃🥃🥃🥃
Great review // Love the spot whiskies. Have the yellow, red, blue and gold at home. Price-Quality wise I prefer the yellow // I'm impressed by the RB27. Never tasted a whiskey with such a fruity (blackberries, raspberries, ...) finish. It reminds me of the fruity chewing gum I got when I was a kid. But I'm even more impressed by the price 😢 600 € in my country (Belgium). A bit insane.

Great conversation all the way through. Love this one too. Wild comparison at the end too. Cheers!
Haha thanks! Such a good bottle. Cheers brother🥃🥃🥃🥃
Mark, good review and liked the H2H with RB 27. Blue Spot really kicks arse at under $US 150.
Insane value. Thanks DJB! Cheers🥃🥃🥃🥃
Great review, I was lucky enough to grab this bottle (58.9%) and you're spot on, no pun intended. Fantastic all around.
Thanks! It hits the Spot!

Great review…love the blending. 😁🥃
Thank you Christine!! That was a killer blend. Cheers🥃🥃🥃🥃

Hi Gerrit, thank you! Good to hear your thoughts. I’ll revisit Yellow soon. Cheers my friend🥃🥃🥃🥃

Thanks Ray! I can see people wanting one bottle of RB27 in their life and yearly bottles of Blue Spot.
Yes, totally true!

Thanks Tom! The only saving grace for RB27 is its strength! Makes it roughly the price of big brand 21 year olds like Glenfiddich.
