Sir Ken Dodd was the cleverest and best comedian ever, this guy dedicated his life to audience comedy, and I doubt if ever anybody will even come close. R.I.P. Doddy.
My missus delivered doddies papers for 10 years, always a smile on his face, and a £50 note from under the mattress every Christmas, a man of the people, both my kids went to knotty ash school, next to his house. The man is a true legend, RIP KEN

What an incredible privilege to be able to film this. He was a genius.
What an absolute legend from start to finish. Always loved him. We were privileged, the world won't see his calibre ever again.
Dad's dream was to meet Ken one day. In his late 80's I managed to get tickets for dad and I for a show Ken was doing in Nottingham.... took dad backstage and waited. About 10 minutes later, Ken walked in and we both greeted him, and told us we were huge fans, and fellow scousers. He stood talking to dad for a good 15 mins, long enough for his manager to remind him he was going to be on stage soon - but he did not mind and carried on. Never forget the look on Pop's face and the smile as they chatted. Ken had time for us both and had us in stitches before he even started the show! Such a gentle, funny warmhearted man who treated us as old friends. One of the true greats meeting my hero - my dad - Lost dad a few years ago now, but will never forget that wonderful night meeting Ken Dodd and one of the best stand up shows I have ever seen.
R.I.P. dad, R.I.P Ken, Thank you both for everything!

Ken was his usual brilliant self, and the show finished about 11.30 - 90 mins after schedule - all had aching sides with laughter and Ken's threat," if you think of leaving, all the doors have been locked, your not getting away that easily I know that they will be laughing together in His mighty presence! Heartbreaking when Sir Ken said the waxwork "never grows old, unfortunately i do" wish he could have stayed, but he was tired and had to go to his rest. Love you Ken xxx

Ken was still soldering on at 90 years of age and not letting his many fans down that takes some doing when others at that age are at home sitting by the fire
There will never be another Doddy. I remember seeing him fo the first time in 1962 at the opera house in Manchester and on many other occasions. My daughters used to start laughing the moment he showed his face on stage and we always caught his Blackpool season. Thank you Ken for so many happy memories.
RIP KEN will be sadly missed . saw him about 25 years ago at colne muni never laughed as much in my life about 1-30 when he finished what a performer

A true gentleman. A great entertainer. A wonderful singer. As a little boy I loved the Diddymen. So many aspects to Doddy's life and career. A wonderful and full life, entertaining generations of fans. My only regret is I didn't see him live but thoroughly enjoyed his tv shows. Tatty bye Doddy! Tatty bye!
Though I've seen very little of him, he not only seemed genuinely funny, but also very kind as well. Just by watching this you can tell he was very kind to people and not a mean jerk like so many celebrities today.
Hearts are breaking in Melbourne for this king of comedy. RIP Doddy ... an inspiration to many.
God bless Ken, if I ever get to heaven you're certain to be there. You made us laugh through our lives and although we are shedding tears now because of losing you, we'll laugh once again when whenever we think of you. Like the star you are you'll shine in our hearts and chuckle muscles forever!

Saw Sir Ken on 3 different shows. Oh how my ribs ached with laughter. Curtain up at 7.30pm and he was still entertaining at past midnight. No swearing, just good old fashioned comedy. A real entertainer. RIP Doddy. We miss you!

One of those legendary enetertainers who was making genration after generation laugh. What increible professionalism - at the end of his career there was little about being on stage that he didn't know. And, good heavens, he knew how to work an audience. Fabulous documentary. Thanks Alex

He was brilliant. Still with it here, died just 4 and a half months after this. Watching this, I would have gave him another good five years. Sadly not too be.

Very sad, that he's passed away. We saw him in Southport 25th November 2017. We travelled up from Southend, did the Beatles tour and capped the weekend off seeing Doddy. Shall always cherish that memory. A true legend.
I was lucky enough to meet him in Eastbourne and he took 2 photos from his pocket and signed them for me and my dad who was the same age as Ken, lovely men, both of them XXX
Saw him when he was 87 a fantastic show came on 7.30 went of 12.30 unbelievably brilliant he will be sadly missed

What an absolute legend, he loved the grand theatre, seems to me he loved everybody, we certainly love him, A one off, God bless you Doddy, , Its our turn to pay tribute to this Countries greatest comedian , bar non.
It was Blackpool in the early 1970s, and me and my gran were on holiday. We went to see Ken, and it was my birthday. My dad handed in a note at the stage door, for Ken to wish me a happy birthday. He got me to stand up in the audience, and wished me a happy birthday! Great performer, and one of a kind. Never be another Ken Dodd.

Did you know In knotty ash sir ken was known as the sargeant ! A close friend of mine told me who known ken 48 year's
One of our VERY BEST performers. Always professional polite and fun. I doubt there will be any comics nowadays that will still be entertaining after they are 60 let alone in the 80's +.
If only we could all fuel the fires of our lives forever, to burn so bright and light up the skies and do just what Ken Dodd did, marvellous to see him at the end, doing just what he did at the beginiing.
Where ever Ken went the smiles and laughter would follow.
We will love you always Sir Ken, Heaven's gain, is our loss.

I was lucky to see Ken perform in Scarbrough 1969 ....I was 4 years old and still remember the show........just watching this clip he still makes me chuckle.....he had talent and happiness right to the end......loved the man....rip Ken
Belfield; perhaps you have seen but have you ever registered that look of pure affection in those glances to camera? They tell you what he thought of you and I see there what I saw so many times and never recognised for what it was.

One of the last great true showmen, entertainers and all round great guy - made me very tearful to watch this but also very happy that he was still belting it out as good as ever in his final years. Someone I grew up with and someone who will always be an inspiration

The best comic ever. I must have seen Ken Dodd live at least 20 times and I he always made me laugh. A great comic, with good clean humor.

Watching this was really nice yet sad. Sir Ken Dodd was a real star not like these fake ones from reality tv who think they are stars. Sir Ken had a love of making people happy and it shows in this film,meeting his fans and the staff and just being generous of his time without any bodybuilder bodyguards with him. A true gentleman and a star. RIP Sir Ken.

Dear Alex, Thanks, My father had a dreadful war ending up burying the dead at Belsen, the whole fanily said it changed him, Some of the only times I heard him laugh was at Ken Dodd on the tv, thanks Ken for cheering a troubled man up, Good Bless you.
Ken knew how to lift you out of the bullshit in the world and transport you into a world of laughter, and very switched on regarding the affairs of the world. Brilliant down to earth lad that lived the working mans dream. Made his peers laugh. Comedy genius and a role model to anyone enters the world of show business. Never take yourself to seriously. Thanks for the laughs lad.

As a scouser I'm very proud our Ken was loved by so many 💖, I always laugh at his interview with the Beatles in the 60s, you could see they loved him & found him so funny.
What an amazing man, lived for the sound of laughter - I share my birthday with him (though younger, of course!). Who'd have known here he wasn't to be around much longer, still so full of life!

Hi Alex, people like Ken Dodd are one of a kind, I can now see where you get your sense of humour from. He was one of my Mum's favourite male vocalists, especially his song called "Promises". On the other hand, my sister had an extended play 45 r.p.m disc called "Doddy & The Diddy Men", our Dad was once a serving R.S.M during World War 2, his sort are not the type to tolerate nonsense so he hated hearing it.
I was at that show😂😊 best 5 hours of my life, got out of the building at 12.30, I’m a Manchester United fan and I always say the two best things in Liverpool is the road out of it and Ken Dodd, rest in peace sir, was having a bad time in my life but after being there and having a sore chuckle mussel when I got home you made everything okay, that’s the power he had, again Rest In Peace ❤️

What an amazing man. Such a long and prestigious career in the entertainment insustry and managed to keep his content (mainly) clean while lesser comedians go for cheap laughs at every opportunity. Hope your making the angels laugh in heaven ken!
