I’ve lived in sunderland for over 26 years and had Downey’s on numerous occasions but never tried Coleman’s. Me and the wife have agreed it is going to be our first date of the new year. Thanks for shining a light in our beautiful area of the UK Matt. Spot on reviews. 👌
I pay £13 for fish n chips near me (Dagenham) and its not a patch on this so take away for £11 is great value looked awesome
Tell Rich I got his ‘battered by the storm’ pun regarding the Temple! I have at times compared your reactions to food as mine to live music (I’ve been to around 2000 gigs in my life so far), and it’s the rare moments like that which just leave you bewildered, astonished and ridiculously happy! And it’s the back story of the brothers, the venue, the view, the champagne and oysters, the sharing with friends which make it that much more special. Bravo Colmans and to you guys for sharing the experience!

The dominant outfit in the fish and chip game - this guy is hilariously brilliant. So many rubbish food review channels but this is one of the best , funny , entertaining, tongue in cheek and honest reviews. Loving the sea food temple ! Great channel well done mate
Wow, what an establishment. These guys deserve every success, they obviously work hard and are so passionate about what they do. I'm so pleased places like this exist and I love that there are high end restaurants outside London, just imagine what you would have to pay for food and drink like this in London.
I eat here often, Richy and Dom have the place running unbelievably, the king prawn tacos are something else. Great review. Nice one lads!

Colemans is a family concern. Ramsdens, I would have considered a commercial concern. Colemans is in a completely different league, and highly recommended.

does look really good, obviously the quality of the ingredients makes a huge difference . You wouldnt do a batter that light if the fish not really good quality and the potatoes probably sourced from farmer or at least fresh and not kept in a cold store for 6 months. All these things make a huge difference and if you have the luxury of being busy and plenty of storage then you can source well in bulk which keeps quality up and costs down for customer. As they've said 5th generation, cant achieve this over night but im pleased for them that theyve worked hard and have a legacy to show for it. Gives others hope.
Seafood temple indeed, looks like fish and chip heaven, what a view. I can't stomach oysters but the fish and chips look amazing! Im deffo giving this place a visit.

Nice to see you up here on the beautiful coast of Sunderland. Not that you had any idea in the first review with the old couple where you were. One half hearted mention of Sunderland then saying here in the north east ! It’s quite important in reviews to emphasise where you are exactly . Especially when you’re in my beautiful city. Normally love this page but the fact you acted in the review that actually got you to venture here like you had no idea where you were as if Sunderland was this obscure place, has ground a few of the old gears with me. Great review this all the same lads. Terrys a legend.

I live in peterborough, I used to travel once a month to work in south shields area and always made a point of eating colmans fish and chips- amazing and home made tartare sauce to die for, however the branch in ocean road in the town centre is better than the temple that u visited- in my opinion.
That shop was featured on a BBC programme Tom Kerridge did recently.

Never been to the temple but I've had it from the chippy on ocean road and it was unreal
Love the content mate been following you from the very start! As a proud Scotsman eating fish&chips (Haddock) all my life this place looks top tier but still not on the level of Anstruther, or the Ashvale chippy Aberdeen. Looks a bit more restaurant than takeaway concept. Also the fishmarket in Newhaven and the fish works in Largs. Come up and do more takeaways in Scotland plz, keep it up guys great viewing😎💥

You need to try Terry's chippy in Bolton (324 Crompton Way, Bolton BL2 2NE) Their fish is so nice, and MASSIVE!

This place has, by far, the best fish and chips I've ever experienced. The oysters are also unbelievable. Atmosphere is always on point. Very lucky to have this chippy less than 10miles from where I live. If you're local and haven't tried it you need your head examined.

I live local and always get my fish and chips from Colemans on ocean road.Tried others but these are the best in my opinion!
Im local and a fun fact that restaurant used to be the public toilets for people visiting the beach it only got changed a few years ago
Matt I've been watching your channel for a few years, and I have to say the dynamic team you’ve built with Rich, Terry and co makes for the best content I've seen. Your channel is superb. This was my favourite episode and the fish and chips looked incredible.
This place is about 10 minutes walk from my house. Smith’s chippy on ocean road also totally rule 👍
There is not many day boats who land fish every day because the local market in Ireland / uk isn’t there unfortunately. Not enough people eating fish 😢
Theres also not a lot of fish, the trawlers have them before the day guys can get to them usually.

How do they get the shards in the fish batter that go upwards? It's so light and crispy. Also 11 pound takeaway isn't that bad considering the local chippy is cheaper but gradually in recent years it seems to be going up in price and the quality seems to be getting worse. I would rather pay an extra couple of quid for the real deal. Looked amazing! Cheers for the video.
Looks a thoroughly deserved 10 to me, the restaurant looked on point, the two brothers clearly have a passion for what they do & it shone through in the food….. the soufflé looked incredible, the oysters looked fresh & perfectly presented, the fish, chips & sides looked as good as I’ve ever seen.
That’s what good food is all about, being delivered in a way that makes you smile & happy to pay at the end of your meal 👌

I went here today. The scallops and deep fried oyster were nice. Cod and chips were a acquired taste. Chips were luke warm but they had a frozen chip texture albeit they were fresh and a after taste. I would not go out my way to order the fish and chips. Fish is decent light but the chips are oldish but edible. Wierd smell coming out the glasses.
A better restaurant for fish and chips is at Saltburn beach.

Wow I read a revue by Jay Raynor in the Guardian a few weeks ago do I knew Colmans would be mustard !, love that sort of food and treat my body as a temple , unfortunately like most surging temples it’s like an old ruin .

How fish and chips should be unlike a lot of the pretenders out there. Quality fish,batter and potatoes and the know how makes a huge difference to taste.
