Also, fyi Lobsters that sit in tanks can eat themselves/waste away from the inside out over time. That is why at shops you should always weigh your lobster to be sure. I imagine this kind of place is geared toward richer tourists than locals. And though I am sure it'd be a fun, unique experience and delicious, it's lethally priced!
Here in the United States we have the ability to actually go fishing ourselves in the outdoors there or go buy fish at a store or restaurant there isn't any need for something like this place where the fish are already caught and placed into a tank for customers to torture , the way these people catch those fish is what's known as Snagging or Snag fishing it's illegal to do in the US because Snagging is extremely painful for the fish and for ones that escape the hook are severely wounded and die a slow painful death. That kind of restaurant wouldn't be allowed here.
you weird racist termites always come out of the woodwork on interesting videos about japan, if you want to make america less diverse you should start with yourself, go find some traffic to lay down in.
For being in Japan, I'm pleasantly surprised the server is speaking English fairly well. Makes me want to go even more, without worrying about the language barrier.
I enjoy the idea of catching your own food. However, this is not that. It is basically like catching a fish in a barrel. The water is so clear you can pick them out. The fish have nowhere to hide and no way to fight. It just isn't fair, and makes me sad. Catching fish straight from natural bodies of water is different. A unique experience certainly, but not one that I like.
Im highly allergic to so many things, I’m not visiting Japan and other lovely places, cause the chances of dying are way too high, but I LOVE to see you guys eating everything! ❤ At the same time it makes me so sad to never be able to try all the food 😔and never knowing how things taste or even being able to imagine it 😢

Also the lobster tail flippers and legs has meat in them. You can also eat the gray stuff (tomalley) and if there’s red to the roe. An there’s another chunk of meat up behind the eyes; it’s the muscle they use to control their antennas.
I was sitting here thinking that they could have dropped the legs and shell of the lobster in the hot pot for extra flavor lol. A cooking show taught me how to take a small wooden dowel and roll the meat out of the lobster legs. Its surprising how much is in there. @@hellfire66683 oh good catch. I meant prepared!
@JoyJoy-cr5us I was just giving you a hard time I knew what you meant, I thought it was funny.
I can't eat without watching something...
And this is always my go-to channel! Thank you for sharing your travels and experiences with us!
This is the coolest concept to me. Id love to go to a restaurant like this!
Thanks for sharing this! I was a bit surprised whenever I saw they fried the flounder whole. But I guess that’s just a regional difference in the world!
These videos make me want to travel.... my wallet reminds me I can't
What a fun dining experience!
What a fun idea for a restaurant. There are so many interesting things in Japan.
I went here before! It is a very fun experience for me as a kid. The fish are very big and delicious, would recommend highly
Honestly I just think its cruel having the fish in a prison like that waiting to die, it must be terrifying for them seeing others get hooked and disappear knowing they will be next one day
I was thinking same but tried to see the bright side of at least the tank looked clean and spacious vs a packed aquarium you see in markets.
Do. You think getting caught in a net and suffocating to death is a better way to go?
Fish aren't sentient, Sally! They have no more sense of self than a mushroom.
@@elessartelcontar9415 yes they are don't be silly you've clearly never had an aquarium full of them.
Fish are sentient
As always, a very informative and cultural experience of the highest level.
I imagine this kind of place is geared toward richer tourists than locals. And though I am sure it'd be a fun, unique experience and delicious, it's lethally priced!
Those fish barely look alive. The shrimp didn't even kick when they were grabbed.
the fish was just swimming lively, now its inside your stomach, sad
Alternate reality plot twist: While trying to catch large fish, instead accidentally snags Godzilla!
Man I wish america wasnt so diverse so we could have stuff like this!
you wish america wasn't diverse???
huh
What an awesome restaurant/experience - everything looks very clean and fresh
The waiter's English explanation was very good. This looks like a fun idea for a date!
OMG if I ever visited Japan, my whole trip would be around going to this restaurant!
There wasn't a single moment of this video where I wasn't like "NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE"
I remember seeing something like this on that Dave Attell show Insomniac. Thanks for the reminder of how awesome this is!
Being able to catch it before cooking it is a interesting concept, wish there were some in America like this
There's a steakhouse nearby here that does a similar thing, but the cows are very heavy and hard to reel in when you hook them in the water.
😅
LoL! This had me really laughing hard.
Im highly allergic to so many things, I’m not visiting Japan and other lovely places, cause the chances of dying are way too high, but I LOVE to see you guys eating everything! ❤ At the same time it makes me so sad to never be able to try all the food 😔and never knowing how things taste or even being able to imagine it 😢
I'm not allergic but because of radation therapy my taste buds can't do spicy at all any more so when they go to all the places I'd love to eat at prior to cancer I can not have any more so I live vicariously through their videos too.
But this place I think I could eat at for sure.
My cousin has severe food allergies but he managed to safely navigate an international trip to Israel and Jordan relying on allergy cards that I prepared for him (i speak fluent Hebrew and have basic Arabic skills but tons of Arab friends who helped me with translating).
This is cuisine at it best man. I love the taste of fresh fish that is caught just now and cooked and served ah can't describe the taste its heavenly tbh.
Thanks for going back a second time and showing us the other options !!!
As a fishermen, thats a unsportsmanlike concept. You foul hook the fish in a tiny tank? Seems cruel.
they cant sit on the coast for hours, its a concept thats meant to not be too hard
@@roombussr5676 Give me a break. People find this unethical way of fishing fun because they are too lazy?
@@blueischiii1575 ''too lazy'' would the restaurant be profitable with their interesting concept? Use your head not your fingers
@@roombussr5676 Maybe they could take your catch from the ocean and prepare it for you? Of course, greedy corporate owners don’t care about ethics, they are pigs.
@@roombussr5676You’re right. I should think with my head, and know that profits should always be prioritized over whats ethical and morally right. Genius!
Love your videos dancingbacons ❤❤
A very fun and tasty meal. I shall try this when visiting Japan next time
"For this fishing technique we wait for a fish to bite the bait" that is some next level fishing right there
Nope.
That's torture
Poor sharks.
This whole thing seems touristy and exploitative.
It is horrible for the sharks. Swimming around in circles all day. Terrible.
Best way to make sure your seafood is fresh, a bit on the expensive side but would make an interesting experience regardless.
Japan always does things so over the top.... Awesome!
Wow very cool experience. Seemed expensive but fun!
It something you would only do once in your life so it’s definitely worth the money for the experience and delicacies!
Wish I had a restaurant like that.
Could you catch and eat the sharks too; they looked pretty big. Be interesting if you did catch one. Wonder how it be served.
The last time I bought live lobster it was expensive so we used every part and made bisque from the shells lol. 😅
@@Emeraldwitch30 This is true. I come from a place were its famous for its seafood, including lobster. An I have never seen prices this high ever; both on the wharf and market.
Hard to believe at one point it was consider a garbage by-catch an usually tossed away or used as fertilizer.
Shark has quite a bit of ammonia in the skin and flesh, iirc. While it CAN be eaten, it doesn't taste very good. There's a Japanese fisherman who catches, prepares and cooks shark on CZcams and he had to do a lot of prepwork just to make it edible.
If I can ever go to Japan. I would surely enjoy going to a place like this.
you are an inspiration to me ... to open a channel about european snacks.... thank you.. i will try my best...
