  • In this video I will help you set up your Panasonic S5 auto focus for wildlife photography and video. I get great results with these settings, so if you are looking to get into wildlife photography with your Panasonic S5, or looking to buy an S5, this guide is for you.
But I'd suggest to at least try these settings out, see what works for you, and then change them to your liking. What do you have to lose?
    Thanks for watching. Cheers!

How timely! I've been struggling with bird photography using my S5. And...I just purchased the Sigma 150-600mm. Thank you!

Thanks since my longest is at 200mm I might play with crop mode for the extra reach

Planning to get the weighty 150-600 with my new S5iiX after 2 years with the S5. Have been using the 70-300 until now. 1001 thanks for the advises of a practician and for the clarity of your presentation. First time I watch someone who knows his subject and doesn't speak rubbish ! Keep it on !

Thanks man, glad to help. That should be an unreal combo with the S5iiX!

Good shout, I just bought this camera. I was interested in the S5 ii though I figured I'd be able to get another lens instead for the same money. Hopefully I don't regret that decision.

I think its a heavy lens for me so I opted for the 100-400, which is not as good. May use a teleconverter when I have on top of the auto focus settings, thanks to your video. (May upgrade later)

Oh nice! Yeah, it is a rather bulky lens unfortunately. Nice optics, but heavy

I didn’t expect S5 to achieve such good results for birding photography. Thought of switching to Sony but after watching you video I think maybe it’s a better choice to keep S5 and buy a Sigma lens. Thanks!

It’s a great camera, just a bit temperamental. S5 + the Sigma 150-600 is a fantastic combo though!

Thanks for the hints and tips in this video. Have you had opportunity to test the S5ii with the new AF system?

Thanks for watching. No I haven’t tried the S5ii. Looks great though!

Interesting video, thanks! Curious why you don't use the tracking mode?

    • @Blinsaff

I found it pretty sluggish to track fast moving things in flight. Static things it's ..alright, but unusable for anything else

Hmm ☹️ maybe double it? 1/2500 might be the sweet spot?
