It is such a coincidence that you did this topic today. I was recently told I have ITP. I was afraid it would be a cancer diagnosis, but for the time being, I only have the condition and no diagnosis. The hematologist assured me he does not believe that it is leukemia or any type of cancer, but perhaps an autoimmune disease. I see him again in three months to determine if there is a trend with my CBC decreasing. As of now I have a platelet count of 40, but the good thing is my body is still producing platelets, however, when they reach my blood stream, they are attacked. Hoping to find out the cause soon. Again, I so much appreciate the work you do here, thank you MP!

Oddly enough, I have pupura in my ankle and foot. CT scan says when I turned my ankle, I tore a ligament off my fibula and crushed a bone in my foot. It freaking hurts. After overnight in the hosp I am home sporting an air boot which helps lessen the discomfort. And then, joy of joys I am watching you and am learning a bit more about it. Thank you.

@@MedicosisPerfectionalis Getting some improvement every day. Thankful I don't need surgery. Physio said I haven't control of my feet, BUT I do have control over my mind. lol. This too shal pass. Worst part of my hospital stay was not having access to your site. Ah well, home now. Thank you.

Solar purpura is in sun exposed areas, unlike steroid purpura which can be at any site ( also we can find other signs of steroid use, like thinning of skin, striae, central obesity etc..)
i get purapura after drinking alcohol. proven to the case for over a year and drinking once every few weeks. i get it on the lower stomach primarily and legs. no idea what the cause is. perhaps i should try find out.

Hello medicosis... I am not a medical student... I just want to know why people with bleeding disorders develop internal bleeding without a minimum trauma... Are blood vessels weak in these patients?

The problem could be in the blood vessel, the platelets, or coagulation factors.

I got a case to discuss in which the patient was diagnosed with icteric leptospirosis. The patient presented with severe thrombocytopenia, high fever, and dark yellowish urine. One of the gross presentations is purpuric rash on his forearms. I have to explain the pathophysiology of this purpuric rash. Could it be due to TTP, HUS or DIC?
You will need other clues before you jump into conclusions!
