    I've never ridden a Piaggio MP3 before, so I can't say it'd be easy for me either. But I've got 4 bikes in the stable: Triumph America (cruiser), Triumph Trophy (sport touring), Suzuki Burgman 650 (scooter), and a Yamaha FZ-07 (naked sport). They all handle completely different... like night and day. I take it the MP3 is even beyond that? I know of 1 older fellow and 1 older lady that both ride MP3s and they seem to have no problems, but they're older and I guess the 3rd wheel helps with balance when they come to a stop.

    • @BraindumpTv
      @BraindumpTv  Před 9 lety +1

      +gentlemansnine Hi Buddy, yeah like I mentioned, if you have not been riding bikes for a long time you may get on with it. But all the bike physics are missing which makes it hard to adjust. No Centrifugal force from two wheels makes cornering above 20mph feel nothing like a bike at all. It's a gimmick to get car drivers onto smaller vehicles without taking another test. I won't go into the hidden politics, but in summary. These are not intended for bikers, they are for car drivers.

    Dont know what the wobble is but it shouldnt. Slow speeds are easy. Steering a bit heavy as there are 2 wheels. At speed they are like a normal bike. Best to think and use the suspension lock as a replacement side stand. Most riders treat it as a normal bike and put their feet down at lights. Left brake is rear brake only, right brake is front and footbrake is dual. My footbrake is rubbish. If you put too much front brake on while canted over the front suspension pulls you upright to get you out of trouble. I wouldnt like to ride one if I was straight from a car with no bike experience. Like a bike its heavy and you need to know about tipping.
    I like mine. Better than my vibrating, filling rattler Honda 500 twin.

  • @rogersmith5371
    @rogersmith5371 Před 4 lety

    I'm only 2 minutes into your review and I can tell you are not a scooter rider. You're reaching for the clutch on a machine with CVT. Scooter riders know the levers are for front and rear brakes. I owned for a Piaggio MP3 400 and I never found any wobble at low speed. Locking the front suspension is only for those who have balancing the bike while it is stationary. It is handy but not essential. The two wheels up front provide stability especially on uneven surfaces and slippery roads. At the same time as I owned the Piaggio I also owned (and still do) a Kawasaki Voyager 1700 so I'm a motorcycle rider and I liked the Piaggio. I found the power came at the top of the range rather than spread across the band. The 400 held its own on the highway at 110km/h - the national speed limit in Australia.

  • @O8ride
    @O8ride Před 9 lety +5

    So you got on a machine that is a cross between a bike and a car and you expected it to act like a bike? Considering you don't need a bike licence to use it, I'm surprised you thought it was more bike than car. You didn't take the opportunity to change your style that fits the machine or even change the digital dash to miles (Mode helps you change the dash), nor try and use the brakes the way they should, preferring to try and ride it like a bike and compare it to one.
    I personally don't like these machines, or in fact any three-wheeler. But I prefer to know how to ride one and then determine whether it stands up to what it is supposed to do than expect it to be something else. Analogy: you can't ride a bull like you ride a horse, but both can pull a cart.
    Your review is just petulant. As summed up by your "but I can't be bothered to look". Your bonus footage showed you were determined to hate it before you even sat on it, and weren't aware you had to hold the brake to start (just like on scooters, because they have auto clutch and would fly forwards on start otherwise).
    Because you don't have a clutch, you use the back brake to stabilise at slow speeds. Try riding your MT09 at slow speeds in first gear without the clutch and see how stable it is.
    This was just a hate video rant because you choose not to learn that different types of machines require different skills and techniques. Disappointed.

    • @WEGGYZZR
      @WEGGYZZR Před 9 lety +1

      You've still got to admit that the consent is floored completely. ...absolutely nothing to be gained by a dual wheel so close together at the front....absolutely nothing whatsoever .
      All this is is just another silly concept that is even more meaningless than the Sinclair c5...
      If you're into that sort of thing then two wheeled scooters work. ...so do bigger engined scoots like the burgman for those who want that sort of thing....these being based on a tried and tested two wheeled design. .
      All this horrible I'll conceived contraption will do is lose the company the money they originally invested in such a design where as they could and should have used it to better the two wheeled bikes they normally produce. .
      who the bloody hell will buy one of these things?
      Not many I promise.

    • @BraindumpTv
      @BraindumpTv  Před 9 lety

      +O8 ride Hold up there mister, this was NOT a review and clearly stated 'First impressions'. The Dash clock is Analog and CANNOT be changed. I think you jumped without your parachute here mate. Why make it lean like a bike if it is supposed to be a car?
      I'll also point out that it is advertised as a commuter scooter - Which is false advertising, it is a Trike.
      If it was a review then I would have reviewed it, hence I was not bothered.
      Also after trying the brakes in every combination it was clear to me that they were totally inadequate for over 1/4 ton of trike.
      I was determined to find a positive, hence all the silences, however I could find none.
      You are completely wrong on my approach to this and I was hoping to have a happy ending.
      How do you know you do not like them? Have you taken one out?? I hope so or that would make you a huge hypocrite.
      Don't believe the magazines and papers, ride it yourself. All my rides are honest and I'm offended by your comments and assumptions.

      WEGGY zx12r
      On the contrary Weggy, these are very popular on the continent. They also don't need a motorbike licence to ride, just a car one. Piaggio is perceived as one of the front-runners in this arena, which is attracting more and more manufacturers. Why? Because they are wanted. Maybe not in the UK, but elsewhere. It's just too easy to look at a machine and dislike it - I certainly dislike it - and then get on it without knowledge of how to ride it and end up being a danger on the road. It's not the machine, it's the rider.

    • @O8ride
      @O8ride Před 9 lety

      Mr & Mrs B's Brain Dump
      Calm down, calm down. No need to be so defensive and "offended" Mr B. You provided your opinion, and I provided mine of yours - it's how the world gets better. Make no mistake, this was your review ride - call it what you like. I don't doubt your ride was honest, but it was based on lack of knowledge IMO
      If it is an analog dash, then the mph indication is on the inside of the curve. By law.
      Your intention was to dislike it as a machine, but what came across is that you don't know how to ride these things.
      Why make a machine lean as it goes round corners if it has two close together wheels at the front and only one at the back. Did you seriously ask me that question? Make it lean like a motorbike? I must be missing something about physics here. Even people lean as they turn tightly enough at speed.
      I don't have a problem with you disliking the machine. Or having an issue with the term "commuter scooter". I just can't take it seriously when you judge it against the way you ride your bike and how a bike should be when you don't even know that you need to feather the back brake as if it is your clutch or why you apply the brake to start up
      I don't have to ride or drive anything to like or dislike it. That's not how these things work. I don't like buses but I don't have to have driven one to have the opinion. And if I tried to drive a bus like I drive a car and expect to be able to compare it against a car, I am sure I would find that it didn't act that way and I wasn't driving it properly. As opposed to it being shit because it didn't do what I expect from my car.

    • @BraindumpTv
      @BraindumpTv  Před 9 lety

      +O8 ride I'm only offended by false accusation. The fact is I rode this bike to give it a fair crack of the whip. I did not ride the bike to dislike it.
      I'm not going to go though the rest of your opinions. You have a right to an opinion no matter how far from the truth it may be.
