    Vote for MrB to be transport minister👍🏻bike sales are in the increase, scooters (top sellers) then naked's, only if bike ads were show on tv there would be a real resurgence back on two wheels 😀

    We get a lot of through traffic in my town and they are digging up all the roads so it gets gridlocked quite often lately. The road repairs are awful and the potholes are everywhere now. The time people are stuck in traffic now is amazing. Cheers

    I commute from East to North London. takes 30-40 minutes (15 miles) on my MT09. Done It in the car last week it took 3 hours to get home. It was JUST traffic, no accidents/road closures, just the volume of cars on the road. Never again! I am considering getting rid of the car now.

  • @LenScapoff
    @LenScapoff Před 8 lety +1

    Traffic volumes have been ridiculous for years now, really. Culturally, though, many people, particularly lobbyists, still seem to frown on two wheels as an alternative to cars unless they are pedal powered.

    Couldn't agree more! Bradford to Leeds commute is ridiculous! I got the bike to avoid the traffic. 20 mins & a smile vs 1hour&misery... It's a no brainier! We call it "traffic wanking" if we get stuck in the car & I don't half cry about it saying that I should be on the bike in those situations

    It's got really stupid. One of my team has a 30 mile commute. If he leaves spot on a 5:00 it's fine. If he leaves five minutes later, it takes so long that he prefers to stay at the office for another 45 minutes. He gets home at the same time anyway.

  • @wyvernbiker

    My commute is so short its hardly worth getting the bike out :)

    I wonder the same thing all the time in London. It really annoys me seeing one person in a car waiting in traffic especially when they can't be bothered moving over.

    We have bugger all traffic where i live but on my recent "Big Adventure" Toobi and I rode out of Sydney on Good Friday - we filtered through standstill or very slow moving traffic for over an hour! I can only assume those people in the cars are probably still there!!

  • @DrunkenSquirrel2
    @DrunkenSquirrel2 Před 8 lety +1

    It's exactly the same here, traffic was part of the reason I got my bike, and now I'm used to it, it has made me even more frustrated when sitting in traffic in the car.
    If you've ever seen India's roads and how many motorcycles there are, could you imagine if each one of those was a car?

  • @roadsonboard
    @roadsonboard Před 8 lety +1

    Agreed, that the average commute by car (depending on the commute) is better on 2 wheels. As you say, incidents happen and the added delays, stressed out drivers etc. that result becomes frustrating and even more dangerous. Most people won't entertain a motorcycle as they know that they have little common sense and skill and will kill themselves on a bike doing the stupid stuff they get away with in cars.
    I commute from Berkshire to SW London. With dense traffic but early enough to avoid the jams takes me about 40 minutes. On the way home its always about 2 hours without any accidents and other incidents. I'm now getting back on 2 wheels.

    Only problem when the weather is good it can take two hours to get home, normally takes 15 mins, drove past my house 4 times Wednesday! Lol

  • @WEGGYZZR
    @WEGGYZZR Před 8 lety +1

    Agreed...the traffic numbers have increased to the point where it feels that anywhere you go ,inner city or town there is going to be a gridlock at some point,,certainly is here in Ipswich,i mean i only work 10 minutes away and in the morning at six oclock its a pleasure to ride the xj6 to work ...12 hours later a bleedind gridlock of cars and lorries at every corner so 10 minutes of my 12 minute commute is filtering.
    Infact my wife was swearing only yesterday in the car about the traffic holdups here in the town.....my answer was simply ..ban the bastard things within 3 miles of a city or town center and get those characters to ride two wheels instead,or walk,or catch the bus,or stay at home...you get my drift!

    Luckily I have many route options on my commute, I can go rural or urban, I always choose rural whichever mode of transport I'm using.

  • @Techathy

    When I was riding a pedal cycle to work at rush hour it'd take me 35 min to do the 9.5 miles, motorbike would be about 20 min. But by car it would be 45 min to an hour & that was amost 1 mile less as I would use the straightish motorway rather than the old wiggly A road which crossed the motorway 5 times. This was almost 6 years ago and traffic has got worse since then. These days I don't commute during rush hour... yay

    This is why I've just sold my lotus elise which I loved but the traffic and road condition in Bournemouth spoiled the enjoyment. Bought another bike instead (old CB500S ) . Bournemouth roads are ridiculous.

Unfortunately i have to drive a car for work , after sitting in the shit all day with no let up .its rare i take the bike out mid week now ,If it wasnt for wales on my doorstep with much better road surface and much less traffice i would'nt have a bike for fun anymore .

    Traffic congestion can be bad for a couple of hours during the rush hour, but then it can be totally clear. Maybe if people worked different times rather than the standard 9-5 it might help. Also it is stupid that some people drive a car with just themselves in it.... GET A BIKE!!!

    • @roadsonboard
      @roadsonboard Před 8 lety +2

      Ask most car drivers and they all say its too dangerous. This is because they know they can't text and ride, they don't have driver aids to keep them out of trouble when they rely on them, they don't have the common sense and skill to ride a motorcycle.
      I'll be on 2 wheels in July but, not looking forward to the idiots in cars and vans who have no care for others.

      You get a sixth-sense and manage to stay clear. Some are sneaky and you can't always avoid them. All the best on getting on two wheels! :)

    • @roadsonboard
      @roadsonboard Před 8 lety +1

      *****
      I know what you mean about the sixth sense. I used to ride superbikes for years until one day a car hit me from behind on a roundabout and then drove off. It put me off road riding but, now I need to get back on 2 wheels. I've been doing some advanced training with Roadcraft Nottingham (on youtube) who I originally passed with just to get back into it.

    oh traffic is getting worse alright. image a very bike place like vietnam swap out all the bikes and put in cars the country would be grid lock in the morning. need to get active in getting people to ride to work. so expensive now though its crazy thats surely not helping.

    Well, we don't have traffic jams, we have traffic annoyances. But there is a street where they designed it wrong a traffic piles up. If I would have to commute in regular hours (8 and 17), it would take 1,5h for me (11km). Also there are a lot of buslines, even side by side, because mayor (well, he was forced out from office by the court, he is corrupt) hates cars and drivers, because they are not his voters. His voters are elderly and "aliens" (that is the correct term for them, you can google aliens passport :)). Thanks to his policy the traffic is bad and getting worse every year. Also the roads are pretty much f***ed. There is a funny sign when you drive out from the city:"head teed", which can be translated as "have a nice journey", but more literally its "good roads" :D
    So yeah, I think so too that cars are on the way out. Actually here we can't ride allyearround so we have to own a car. I personally can't get to work without car and car is mandatory for my work (its actually written in contract), but turning the spring and summer I ride to work and if I need a car, theres always some other department I can call :P
