Arrogant instructors - Bit of a grumble - *contains mild swearing

- To save repeating myself I'm referring to instructors on and off the bike in person. The no nod just sparked the grumble. After he looked me and the beast up and down a few times he had no time left to nod :) One in particular I know won't even look you in the eye if you are in leathers, and that's while he walks round on foot.

Oh crap! Have I just ranted at myself? Meh - I don't think I'm that bad! :O)

I'm like you - always like to nod and get a nod back. But maybe the instructor was concentrating on his students and trying to help them 'not crash'! If I'm on the motorway changing lanes and see someone nod at me out the corner of my eye on the other side, the guy probably thinks the same of me as you think of that instructor. Sometimes you just miss it...
My instructors were great but there's a lot to concentrate on so they even sometimes left their indicators on!
He's a working biker and probably didn't want his students copying and have a crash. Most instructors I know ride all the time and is the reason why i choose them. Some instructors think we can't ride properly

I'm an ex-bike instructor, now car instructor , still ride on my MT09! I try to nod at any bike when I ride; yet appreciate maybe instructors could be concentrating on their safety/watching students😀
I used to look at myself as i ride by but not now i cannt move my head that far around hahahahaha.
Good to see ya back Mr B ! It takes a very special kind of person that can be put in a position of responsibility without turning into a wanker. The people that want responsibilty are generally dé-facto the sort of people who should never be given any. The trick is to find a good person who is organized but has not desire for it and then make him the boss. This is why governments are so awful. And driving instructors.......
I know that they're not all like that. The instructor I had nodded at other bikers, especially the ones he knew he'd wave at! He's called Gary and comes from CAM Rider at Bury St Edmunds. A really decent bloke. Ex-army.
Sorry, to continue my post...As car instructors, we tend to acknowledge each other as we work, but I must remember not to wave at every single biker when working from my car! Lol. But yes, let's all try and acknowledge each other as it makes the day nicer👍
Come on you know why..They're more skilful & superior to us.. Hence they need to maintain an air of arrogance and aloofness.
Nice to see you putting a video out again bud, I know three instructors one is a real biker and nods to everyone and the other two drive a car after work, one of those is a Honda Goldwing rider and He only nods to other Goldwing riders, takes the piss a bit don't it, RSM8.
My instructor was indeed a bit arrogant, but I was even more, so it didn't affect me... 😉 (he has been a great instructor anyway)
i must be 1 of the lucky ones, my instructor that is putting me through my das is a top bloke, real down to earth and a laugh,
if your from the midlands i would highly recommend going to stretriders in brownhills
I think for the Instructor riding is a day-to-day job not felt as a casual bimble around town but a serious business .
He's probably fed up of doing that job and spending so much of the day reacting to nodders wore off as a novelty years ago.
He probably wasn't impressed by your positioning either because being an instructor he has to be critical and constructive in his job.
I don't know when nodding actually came in as a thing to do? I certainly don't remember it in the late seventies early 80's when I was last riding.
I remember when the PT Cruiser car owners and I think the Deux Cheveux (sp) drivers were doing it but not bikers unless you knew them.

Do you not think he just might be a little more preoccupied with his students? Imagine if you were leading 2 people who in all possibility may have never ridden the road before (esp if cbt) May never have driven.. I would hope 100 percent attention would be on them not the triviality of nodding.. It's hard to tell but he might even be checking the mirror to see what they are upto and miss you..
one of the instructors who trained me everytime I see him on the road I give a nod and he does not and there's plenty of Bikers around my area who do not nod
most of the time I do not associate with big groups of bikers because with me being on a 125 they look at me as a squid but no skin off my nose everybody has to start somewhere :) and ride safe

Come on andy all bike instructors r not arrogant, Just every single one we see on the road haha,i see them everyday and when im up the arse of his pupils i try to be respectful and they fucking blank you like theyv got there fucking chin on a specsavers jig.You would think a nod would show his pupils about respecting other bikers,R,S,M8

+Ian Stockwell Cycle zones are a waste of paint, cyclists never stop at red lights, so if they aren't going to use those safe zones I will.
