I spent ten years on tanks in the U.S. Army. Whenever I'd get asked "where do you park that M1A1 tank?" I'd always respond with "anywhere I damn well please. IT'S A TANK!"
I love Unimogs, those things are pretty indestructible. When I was stationed in Germany (Hallo, Hesse!) some of us were taught how to drive them by the Bundeswehr.
This is my dream , so happy she is getting to live the most wonderful life ever . So inspiring , I’m alone as well and understand completely where she is coming from on all points. You go girl 💪👍🏻😎

Not realy suited for an overlander build.
So we got ourselfs an Iveco Daily LWB. But the Unimog is still in my head. Maybe one day there will be an other one... 😉

Very cool Unimog! Like the big window. The engine is indeed very simple. What makes the Unimog vulnerable are the portal axes and the complex transmission. Most advance off-road capabilities but complex engineering.

3:15 Usually in military trucks flaps on the roof are designed to dissipate heat at a standstill and to evacuate after accident when the truck is on its side. Unimogs have also frame Which allows you to mount machine gun on the rotable stand.

I would love the opportunity to take a short trip with such a lovely ladie. I can be really small yet really big when needed...that sounded wierd...I mean in any confrontations that she might not want to be bothered with from any unwanted people.. or any kind of maintenance or physically demanding and challenging tasks. Also my dog shamus is a real joy to travel with. He is practically invisible. My bags are packed.

Great build ! Please could you suggest insulating the battery terminals?! They are big batteries to have unprotected close to that aluminium bar ( I think) and metallic pots/pans.

Very interesting I have a U1300L also but with no living quarters on the rear my truck is a 1985 running the 366 turbocharged engine, this is my second Unimog and I dont think you could have picked a better mode of transport for your adventures! God speed Ladies!
