    just for a thought;
    Xenophon 430 BC:
    Realise that the lessons of higher dressage are not tricks that you can teach your horse with the help of unnatural means of coercion. They are forms of impressive self-expression by the horse, which it performs of its own accord in special states of excitement in front of its conspecifics.
    Your horse should take pleasure in its work and express enthusiasm in its movements and posture.

      Wanting to 'dress it up' that way is a mistake and speaks to the artificiality of some of it, maybe just a way of going if not the case. This would be very hard work for the horse if not natural and would burn out quickly. Physical and mental exhaustion show at the end....tremendous heart and talent despite the difficulty. Very light hands are impressive on the part of the rider

      Agree, its not natural movement. Mostly a sign of rollkur abuse. I used to love dressage (dancing with your horse) but now i know its all about money and fame of the rider and the horse had to pay the heavy bill for it.
