    I hope you phosphoric acid washed before undercoating. I have heard of issues with previous rust continuing under the undercoat if you don’t chemically kill the rust first,

    • @RaysGarage
      @RaysGarage  Před rokem

      I did not, the car has no rust. It lived in a very dry climate and looks garage kept. Thanks for the heads up buddy!

  • @z06doc86
    @z06doc86 Před rokem +1

    You need a mini split ac/heat pump Ray, especially living in the desert. Hard to compare with the sweet 9 inch rear end, 4 link and mini tubs. Priorities. 😅
    PS…the Rust Jones is hanging low these days. 😂

      I agree, Mr. Cool agreed to provide a system then backed out for some unknown reason, maybe it was the Trump flag or the Let's go Brandon signs! Regardless, I'll put a system in at some point. Mr Cool should step up and follow up with our agreement, if not so be it!

    Looks fantastic, what’s the wheel set up? Rim size/off set and tire size. About to be starting a 73 Ventura project that I’ve been sitting on for almost 6 months and if I can get it looking anything close to your figment I would be ecstatic.

    • @RaysGarage
      @RaysGarage  Před 6 měsíci

      After installing the DSE mini tubs you should end up with 14" width of clearance and plenty of inside height clearance. I had my Quick performance 9" cut to 56" mounting surface to mounting surface. My wheels are custom American racing Torq Thrust II's 18" x 11" with 6" Backspace. Tires are Nitto NT555 G2's 315/40ZR18 and have about 5/8" side to side clearance. The tire is 28" in diameter and have 2" front and rear clearance. I could fit a 30" diameter tire but it would be tight but doable! You will love the look when finished and worth the work involved!

    Ray I am doing basically the same build. Expect doing a speedrech toque arm set up. My question is. Did you narrow the rear end. If so how did you come up with the measurement. I’m running the same size tire 315’s

    • @RaysGarage
      @RaysGarage  Před 8 měsíci

      Yes, narrowed the rear axle. The rear axle with Wilwood rotors is 56" from mounting surface to mounting surface. My rear 18"x11" wheels have a 6" back space and are perfectly centered in the tubs with .625" clearance inside and out. So depending on your wheels backspace will determine your overall width.

  • @Hoskinjr
    @Hoskinjr Před 2 měsíci +1

    Nice build! What is the backspace/offset of your 315/35?

    • @RaysGarage
      @RaysGarage  Před 2 měsíci +1

      I ended up going with 315/40ZR18’s on 18x11’s with 6” backspace the 315/40’s filled the wheel tubs much better. The 9” is 56” mounting surface to mounting surface with the Wilwood rotors.

      @@RaysGarage I appreciate that I have the same setup you just confirmed my measurements

  • @Enjoytheinbetween

    Ray, it looks like your tires would have fit without nothing the frame rails? Is that the case?

    • @RaysGarage
      @RaysGarage  Před 2 měsíci

      No, for the tubs to fit the frame rails need to be narrowed in the rear to fit, tubs are 14” wide. My tires are 13” wide.

    What you got price related without labor in the tubs axle and 4 link wanting to do this to my nova

    • @RaysGarage
      @RaysGarage  Před rokem

      Hi Charles, The Detroit Speed tubs are about $500, Quick Performance 9" rear axle was about $2800 complete, the Ridetech rear cradle with double adjust bars and weld on brackets ran about $2000

    What is your shortened axle length?

    • @RaysGarage
      @RaysGarage  Před 2 měsíci +1

      With Wilwood rotors installed, mounting surface to mounting surface is 56" and running a 18x11 wheel with 6" BS.
