The Honda CRF450X is Honda's do it all off-road motorcycle, and with the most Baja 1000 titles to it's name, it's no wonder this bike is loved by mountain single-track riders as well as the open desert racers. For 2019, Honda made some major revisions to the 450X including a green-sticker, fuel-injected engine, revamped chassis and suspension, and updated bodywork to keep up with the rest of the CRF family. When Eric first got the chance to ride this bike over a year ago he immediately picked up on Honda's famous ergonomics and the updated fuel-injected engine that felt like it had power no matter where you were in the rev range. But, there were a few areas that we felt could use improvement to really help the CRF450X become the most well-rounded bike it can be. So, take a closer look as Eric goes over all the parts and accessories he added to his 2019 CRF450X to make it the ultimate off-road machine.

I’m still riding my ‘05 450X, love that bike!
i still got one as well
I love how he says that he liked the rx but he wanted a little wider gear ratio and less prone to stalling. That because the 450x is an offroad bike the rx isnt my my mind it's a motocross bike with an 18in rear wheel and little bigger fuel tank, that's it. I'm offroad guy myself and you cant have an offroad bike without a wide ratio gearbox. This 450xis gorgeous and is a serious offroad bike right out off the showroom floor. Just like the yz450fx (what I ride). And they have lots more potential
Unbelievable terrain you got there! Nothing like in europe. And what a gas tank! 😃
I absolutely love Europe, but western North America from California to Yukon Territory and beyond to Alaska is riding heaven. Stay well.
Jussi #567 , no riding like this in Europe?? Have you been to Spain, Italy, the Alps, Norway, Iceland?
Been waiting for this build, I put that box on mine on a dyno it was flat ended up going with a power commander it really opened it up.
I upgraded from the 250 to the 450 last yr. Absolutely love it. Great recommendations for upgrades. Skid plate and head light definitely on top of my list.
Beautiful bike! I'd love to ride one of the news X's to compare to the old X. 450X is my favorite bike
The weight does help high speed rough terrain runs. Bike can pull 5th and 6th in the sand especially after a few mods.
My '08 is right around 250lbs dry. I would have figured the new ones would get a bit lighter.
@@crackjack8320 Well nooooo shiiiit Jack LOL! Thats why Im watching this vid. Wet weight is around 268 so its not real far off. Of course Id love one, but they just won the Baja 1000 again on the old in '19. Not worth buying new when u have a nicely mod'ed older version. And it'd be tough choosing from the new WR or this new X.
@@tieoneon1614 just buy a 2 stroke 300 ;)
@@flagovhate and run out of gas at 45 miles or strap a desert tank on and make it heavier than a 450....nope. My bud just bought a '20 crf450x, i rode it yesterday. It literally feels as light as his 300xc. Super nimble and quiet but powerful
@@tieoneon1614 "feels light" doesn't mean anything. And 45 miles? Please. My 2.1 gallon tank on my YZ250 lasts longer then that.
@Tie One on - you can buy larger fuel tanks for 2t's bro, come on?!?! My 2019 TM EN300ES could smash ANY 450 in fuel consumption!!! And that goes for about ANY modern 2 stroke model - especially like my 2020 Husqvarna TE with transfer port injection! Do you not pay attention to the craftsmanship and engineering going into bikes now-a-days? Most machines have no problem going 65-80 miles stock...
Didn't know that Tusk made a recon front tire! I'll have to check it out. Liked the rear, really solid combination of grip and longevity.
It's brand new! Be sure to check it out and let us know what you think!
I'm not into 4 strokes, but i can appreciate a well built bike.
How can you not be into four strokes!? They are the bomb!... Just like two strokes lol
@@rmatvmc lol cost of maintenance, weight, complexity when it comes to maintenance, initial purchase price, longevity of the life of the engine.
When i say 4 stroke, i mean the high performance 4 strokes. I would hands down buy a DR650 or an older KLR650.
Also, most of my experience comes from snowmobiles, where power to weight is king and no naturally aspirated 4 stroke will out perform a 2 stroke. Atleast not yet.
Love the vids and the bike
I had no idea about the Pro Taper handlebars! Thank you!
Nice bike
Nice bike! That tank makes it look hugee
It’s my favourite bike ❤️
best channel out there
Do a crf150r review/ bike build
Wish you would do the rmx450z
rad build.
Good lord, Oh the weight oh the weight. Look at Johnny Campbell kicking ass on XR650R, I would love to have one of those bikes.
My Hero 😍
Great build!
Did you get a final weight after your build? I have an almost identical set up with an 08x and was curious how much more/less the new one weighs. I’be looked at the RX and it sure feels much lighter. It Honda claims it is 261 lbs.
Awesome channel and video thank you
Hey I was wandering about that tube coming out of the charcoal canister ,it appeared to be gone I was wanting to run a different chain guard myself. I couldn't see exactly what ya did with that tube . Very nice setup by the way .
can you do a review video on a honda crf150r
Nice bike compared to mine
I wish I knew when you guys come to mesquite to ride with you guys.
I bought a house in Mesquite a few months ago and hope to be moved in by the end of the year. My wife is dragging her feet about moving across country (from NJ).
Are there any offroad riding groups in the area? All l could find were street bike groups and side by sides. I'm a Honda guy with all my bikes plated for dual sport use (XR650R, XR500R, CRF450X and a CRF450RX).
I hope to link up with you once l get out there. 🙂
@@michaelhafke4742 not really groups but just some friends we could have groups but we dont fun riding out here for sure though.
@@michaelhafke4742 damn dude leave your wife in NJ if she don't wanna move to Utah lmao
I had the 2005 model bran new it wasn't powerful enough for me.
Great video but not sure if I got what’s different from the old model... also wonder how much it costed for this build.
Love the Honda. Do you feel the need of a Hinson momentum clutch basket on that bike? In the video you talking about the "crank intertia" i think it is? Do the x have more stroke than the others? Cool bike.
Where in Utah are these trails looks amazing
This is southern Utah. We love riding this area!
I'm asking this as a short man. As you stand next to that bike, I'm guessing the seat comes up to you just above your naval. How do you ride and handle a bike of that height? Thanks.
Kentucky Justice Im 5'4"-5'6" depending on the convenience store Im leaving. Low seats help, but with the proper amount of sag I can get both feet to just touch. Shorter people need to have good balance and really practice NOT putting a foot down, because often there is no way to touch.....you learn to deal with it....
@@zigz0911 "Learning to deal with it" is what I'm trying to do, I guess. I've set my sag, dropped my shock one hole and lowered my forks 3/4", but I was hoping there was a magical mechanical answer floating around out there somewhere that would terminate my search for Kiss motocross boots. Thanks, bro.
Kentucky Justice look at maybe lowering links for the rear end that might help you out too not a prob I’ve ever dealt with being 6,5 but lots of short mates 🤣
I'm only about 5'8". When standing next to the bike under it's own weight (about and inch+ of static sag) it is right at my waist/belt. I have my rider sag right around 100mm (around 4 inches) so when I am on the bike with the proper sag it isn't that bad. I still don't touch flat footed. I have to slide my rear off to the side I need to touch. My girls are 5'4" and we had had to work on sliding off the seat to get their feet down.
Kentucky Justice the only other option really is to have the suspension professionally lowered. You give up ground clearance and travel when you do that. Same with lowering links...
What is the name of the better headlight?
can the stock stator run the Baja design (sport) light and the tusk universal fan kit?
Nice build what tail light do you have?
What specifically do you look for when wanting to eliminate the long travel / soft suspension and get more of a stiff and better reacting suspension? Is it more in the rear or do the forks/front springs play a vital role in it as well?
The two work together. Most times, but not always, you will need to change both either the fork or shock spring, you'll need to change the other. It's not always the spring rates. It could just need stiffer valving. I'd consult your suspension tech and see what they say.
Hey thir I need a xr650l engine for my bike can u help
What sprocket ratio is on it
have you found out ? i’m getting a 19r but i’m gonna build it for desert
This the goal for my 450RL. What size rear tire?
This bike has a 110/100x18 rear tire.
Doesn't the 450x have a stock steering stabilizer?
The 2019 CRF450X does not come with a steering stabilizer from Honda.
I would love to purchase this build from you guys if you were willing to sell...
We haven't had this bike here for a while now. It was sold at a dealership. Thank you.
Could you get that bike plated if you wanted?
That would vary depending on what state you're in but it would take some work to get this bike road legal.
@@rmatvmc I’m in the worst state for that California. Looking at the 22 and it’s green sticker still but if I added the required mirrors and signals I’m hoping to get a plate.
Well.. the bike weight is one factor, "you" might wanna do math... l it don't matter brother
What hp you getting out of it
Somewhere between 700 billion and a trillion 300 million billion! HAHAHAHAH! But for real, Honda claims roughly 43 HP and we've never put the bike on a dyno so we stand with that. - Chase
where is that location in utah?
This is down in Warner Valley outside St. George.
@@rmatvmc THANKS! Im on my way there.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
What happened to your RX?
When this bike came in, the RX went away :( - Eric
Rocky Mountain ATV MC aw. Yea this has been my biggest decision, do I got the the rx or x? I don’t race much, just mostly trails, single track.. and I love the light and speedo on the x, but I really don’t want a heavy bike. :(
Beyond the sponsored Stuff. It show and i mean it. IT shows u guys never rode it on tight, stiff and technical terrain. Everybody knows americans dont like enduro gp and Gncc its not the same. Look josep Garcia, ruy barbosa and Many others. And let me tell you, the pros on hard enduro run stock suspensión just clicks and sag.
Not sure what your point is, but thanks for checking out the video and leaving your feedback!
