    The Honda CRF450X is Honda's do it all off-road motorcycle, and with the most Baja 1000 titles to it's name, it's no wonder this bike is loved by mountain single-track riders as well as the open desert racers. For 2019, Honda made some major revisions to the 450X including a green-sticker, fuel-injected engine, revamped chassis and suspension, and updated bodywork to keep up with the rest of the CRF family. When Eric first got the chance to ride this bike over a year ago he immediately picked up on Honda's famous ergonomics and the updated fuel-injected engine that felt like it had power no matter where you were in the rev range. But, there were a few areas that we felt could use improvement to really help the CRF450X become the most well-rounded bike it can be. So, take a closer look as Eric goes over all the parts and accessories he added to his 2019 CRF450X to make it the ultimate off-road machine.

    I love how he says that he liked the rx but he wanted a little wider gear ratio and less prone to stalling. That because the 450x is an offroad bike the rx isnt my my mind it's a motocross bike with an 18in rear wheel and little bigger fuel tank, that's it. I'm offroad guy myself and you cant have an offroad bike without a wide ratio gearbox. This 450xis gorgeous and is a serious offroad bike right out off the showroom floor. Just like the yz450fx (what I ride). And they have lots more potential

Of course Id love one, but they just won the Baja 1000 again on the old in '19. Not worth buying new when u have a nicely mod'ed older version. And it'd be tough choosing from the new WR or this new X.

And that goes for about ANY modern 2 stroke model - especially like my 2020 Husqvarna TE with transfer port injection! When i say 4 stroke, i mean the high performance 4 strokes. I would hands down buy a DR650 or an older KLR650.
      Also, most of my experience comes from snowmobiles, where power to weight is king and no naturally aspirated 4 stroke will out perform a 2 stroke. Atleast not yet.

    • @zigz0911
      @zigz0911 Před 4 lety

      Kentucky Justice Im 5'4"-5'6" depending on the convenience store Im leaving. Low seats help, but with the proper amount of sag I can get both feet to just touch. Shorter people need to have good balance and really practice NOT putting a foot down, because often there is no way to touch.....you learn to deal with it....

      @@zigz0911 "Learning to deal with it" is what I'm trying to do, I guess. I've set my sag, dropped my shock one hole and lowered my forks 3/4", but I was hoping there was a magical mechanical answer floating around out there somewhere that would terminate my search for Kiss motocross boots. Thanks, bro.

    • @benfairhall5331
      @benfairhall5331 Před 4 lety

      Kentucky Justice look at maybe lowering links for the rear end that might help you out too not a prob I’ve ever dealt with being 6,5 but lots of short mates 🤣

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  Před 4 lety

      I'm only about 5'8". When standing next to the bike under it's own weight (about and inch+ of static sag) it is right at my waist/belt. I have my rider sag right around 100mm (around 4 inches) so when I am on the bike with the proper sag it isn't that bad. I still don't touch flat footed. I have to slide my rear off to the side I need to touch. My girls are 5'4" and we had had to work on sliding off the seat to get their feet down.

    • @zigz0911
      @zigz0911 Před 4 lety

      Kentucky Justice the only other option really is to have the suspension professionally lowered. You give up ground clearance and travel when you do that. Same with lowering links...

    @Awoit Před 4 lety

    What specifically do you look for when wanting to eliminate the long travel / soft suspension and get more of a stiff and better reacting suspension? Is it more in the rear or do the forks/front springs play a vital role in it as well?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  Před 4 lety +1

      The two work together. Most times, but not always, you will need to change both either the fork or shock spring, you'll need to change the other. It's not always the spring rates. It could just need stiffer valving. I'd consult your suspension tech and see what they say.
