- This is the first of four videos shot on a day-trip to Nashville from October 2015. This video starts on I-85 near the Brookwood Interchange in Atlanta and follows I-75 North to MM297. A music and equipment info are in the closing credits.
I-75 is such a beautiful interstate going through North Georgia. Thanks for another great video!
Beautiful! The first time I drove into Atlanta was on this stretch of I-75 and being from the west, I was amazed at how thick and green the trees were, even into downtown Atlanta. What a beautiful part of the country. Thanks Jim! ...and more REM please
+PeteTheChopp Thank you!
i know this video is old but i go to KSU which sits right next to 75 and sometimes i just hop on the highway and drive 40+ miles north to relax whenever i need a break from school haha! 75 is really calm and pretty when the sun sets!
Thank you for watching, there's nothing quite like the open road.
I love those rural six-laners. I-75 is nearly entirely six (plus) lanes across Georgia if I'm not mistaken.
+European Roads It's been a while since I've been south of the Metro Atlanta area, I think it is mostly 6+ all the way to Florida, except for Macon, which will likely be widened at some point.
yes, the 75 is three or more lanes from North chatanooga in tenessee to the florida turnpike, except for a strip about two miles south of the i-475 split which is 2 lanes wide, West of macon (although I think there was a widening project on there but not sure). but other than those about two miles it is 3 or more lanes wide
That makes 12 lanes
I think I-75 is 6 lanes throughout most of Florida as well.
these videos are therapeutic
Thank you for watching!
In the late '90s, a bunch of country stars cut a tribute album to The Eagles, and of course Travis Tritt's contribution was "Take It Easy." I've always liked his version better than the original.
+countenanceblog I have another song coming from that album in two weeks :)
Love when you do Atlanta videos considering that I drive these interstates everyday! Feels like I'm driving.
+taykh Thanks, glad you enjoy them.
Enjoyable - never have been on that stretch of 75.
+JMV FRVA Thanks!
I75 from Atlanta to Tennessee is basically Atlanta's version of Ontario's 400 from Toronto to the cottage country!
Thanks for another great ride, Jim. Fantastic soundtrack. Looking forward to the second part.
+ca2fla Thank you very much
Beautiful video! All the trees are still lush and green at the end of October. It's definitely milder down there!
+Kevin Tennert Thank you and yes it is.
Welcome back! Love the new intro.
+TheSolarcatcher Thank you much!
very cool video. I made this very trip, albeit southbound, this past Christmas from Michigan, via Kentucky.
Excellent music choices, and the new graphics are great as well.
+John Randall Banks Thank you very much!
You are absolutely on fire with the music for this video!!
+Mike Hunt Thank you!
I was traveling on I-75, the other day from 10/14th Street to I-575 and saw the ramps in progress from Canton Road to Windy Hill. And I saw there was a gonna be a new HOV exit at Terrell Mill Road
Nice ride- also like the new intro! Very nice ride from Atlanta through GA! Can't wait to see the rest of the trip! GA seems to be constantly upgrading it's highway infrastructure and that is a good thing!
+cjs121675 Thanks, yes GA definitely does a good job of keeping the roads up to date
Great great stuff. These videos will be real treasures in the decades to come. (If only we had such videos from 20-30 years ago!) I remember when the I-75 stretch from MM 277 through 290 was brown pavement. I thought this was some sort of test of paving materials as I never saw anything else like it in the state. That section was repaved in the early 1990s with regular blacktop asphalt. If only I could drive as fast as that video LOL... I look forward to more vids...keep up the fine work!
Thank you very much! I wish I could have filmed Atlanta before all the construction in the 80's. New videos start June 27.
wonderful video buddy, also lol semi trucks overload like a boss!!!
+James Wormsley Thanks, yes that is a heavy truck route for sure, wait till you see the next one.
Freewayjim ok looking forward to that next
time lol hehehehehehe!!!
Don't remember the exact date (may have been summer of 2000), I drove all the way from Long Island, NY to Atlanta. (I did spent the night at my sister's place in Greenville, NC.) It was a wild experience, especially since I had NY plates!
Another great one Jim!!
+Jayee E. Thank you very much!
I really enjoy the songs!
+Renan Moreno Thank you
Hearing "Take It Easy" reminds me of Glenn Frey. May he RIP....
Like the video and the new editing
+Antonio Lio Thank you!
Great music selection the flock says. And that 6 lane section built in the 70s must have been painful to drive at 55 mph.
+Upeedina Lamb Thank you and yes it was!
55 anywhere was painful to drive (still is for me). Hopefully we as a nation will have the sense enough not to make that mistake again...
+Upeedina Lamb Unfortunately I heard in Ontario Canada they still drive 100 km/h (62 mph) max...
A section of highway of I-43/I-94 in Milwaukee is speed limit 55 and it's painful to drive at that speed on an 8-lane road!
Didn't quite make it to my neck of the woods. I'd skip over Dalton, too.
Thanks. Love traveling.
+Dorothy Holbrook Thanks for watching!
Gotta love ATL traffic. North Ga is beautiful but the scenery in your videos of I-84 through Oregon puts our little hills to shame. Is there any chance you could do I-65 from Montgomery to Birmingham some time?
We do indeed have a beautiful State. Hope to get up this way one day this summer outside the serenity of the antebellum capital of Milledgeville.
Great start to the 2016 season and I am wondering if you are going to Florida's major Metro area ( Tampa - St. Petersburg , Miami , Orlando , Jacksonville ) maybe .
+Javier Solis Thank you, no, I'm probably not going to Florida this year, still working on where we are going to go, but Florida isn't in the running
+Freewayjim Let me know where your heading sometime this year .
+Freewayjim You do a tour in Seattle , St.Paul / Minneapolis , I-90 Rocky Mtns , Portland
nice,good video .thanks
+ALG ROADJET Thanks
Great video. I may be moving to Atlanta (DeKalb County) in August, so I'm learning a lot about the freeways and landscapes through your videos. Can you post a video of I-985 in Hall County out to Lake Lanier, if you haven't done so already? Thanks a bunch!
Thanks, there's no point in doing a video of I-985 in Hall county, there's nothing to see, just a four-lane freeway. use Google Street view if you are really curious.
Okay, thank you.
Very cool. Couldn't help but notice the median lights are fairly low on 75 in Atlanta proper...I guess to not light up people's backyards?
+PelicanGuy Thanks...there are some neighborhoods along I-75 so that would make sense.
Great new video and intro!
+InterstateKyle Thanks Kyle!
+Freewayjim can you make more videos of atlanta, and a street tour from sandy springs to dunwoody?
+dominique mann I'm sure I'll make some more at some point.
+Freewayjim ok, thanks
Beautiful country.😀 The South is so pretty. Glad I made the move. Good job!!( As usual)😁
+rsdaddy141 Thank you!

+acfhs2010 Thanks!

Very Good R.E.M Jim.
+adriano alves Thank you!
LOL! "Chattanooga and Beyond" Sounds like an episode of The Twilight Zone.
I did that road by thumb back in the early 70's- parts were missing... recognized bits of it.
(Did some time in Athens GA too...)
Wow, Interstate 75 remains 6 lanes wide. Does it narrow to 4 lanes at some point, or does it remain 6 lanes wide all the way to Chattanooga?
+Jason Hsu Yes, It's 6 lanes all the way to Chattanooga, and most of it is 6 lanes all the way in the other direction to Florida.
Great video as always, FWJ.
+necroslair Thank you, much appreciated.
To add to that, I-185 towards Columbus is also nice.
+BabyBang17datruth Oh lord no, that's boring as can be....nothing south of I-20 outside of the Atlanta area is very interesting IMO.
Freewayjim lol you are right...I put I-185 to Columbus right up there with I-16 to Savannah. A real snooze fest. lol
Great Video! Can we get more videos of I-75 in Georgia in the future? The scenery is cool around Macon and across south Georgia.
+Caleb Harper Thank you! Other than a few miles at the GA-TN line to begin next week's video there are no other videos of I-75 in rural Georgia coming, I think you and I have different definitions of cool scenery :)
+Freewayjim Maybe we do. I would consider giving I-75 south of Atlanta a shot in the near future. Just a suggestion.
+Caleb Harper There's not much worth filming south of ATL, I'll film when the ExpressLanes are done (link from a video last year, but for the most part it's not very interesting IMO. czcams.com/video/CMCDd2ZejfQ/video.html
nice,nice,nice,jim............
+Elton Yon Thanks
Speed limits in Cobb County... as if there's ever low enough traffic to get to that speed. I do enjoy driving through Atlanta though, and you can never have too many Atlanta vids.
Intro song?
It's an apple loop called Chelsea loft, the full 37-second version is here on YT. czcams.com/video/PkOgToM-3V4/video.html
Cool Video
Thanks
I"m going to miss the old intro cuz I knew where it was. Where's the new one? Thanks for the cool video !
+Rohan Scott The new one is the ramp from I-85 south to the GA-13 Connector, only a few miles NE of the old intro. Thanks for watching.
A new Freewayjim season is underway a sure sign summer is not far behind
+Edward Kollin Well this is a mini-series, I still don't have set plans for a summer trip yet
i want to do a trip to Chicago To Nashville for a Hockey game but i don't know that the Chicago Blackhawks got to play Nashville for the Playoffs
+987 Chicago You'll have to wait and see.

Awesome route, road and scenery! Roughly what was the speed of traffic? Altanta drivers have a reputation for being super leadfoots!
+SleekDan97 Thanks, ATL drivers are usually 5-10 MPH over and then there are the crazies.
no Kennesaw State shoutout :(
Reylyn
Did you get caught speeding and had to rush to leave town lol
Ah, no.
@@Freewayjim ok lol

Travis Tritt? You've lived in the South too long!
+Jeffrey Morris Ah no...two reasons for it, the original song is not safe (as are most Eagles songs), the tempo and length were what i wanted and he's from where the road was passing through so there's a connection.
