    I am a 65 year Hoosier resident now living in Florida for the past 13 years. I have traveled this route once each year for the past 13 years. I have never had the time to take note of what lanes to get in and when to get in them. Your video is very helpful. Now, I have time to make notes which of course I couldn't do while driving. Thank you fellow Hoosier.

    • @cojack424

      Jeff Keller ha....nowadays, the only time you can make through Atlanta on the weekends is either early in the morning or super late at night without any gridlock.....I have been living in Atlanta for 20 years too long.....Atlanta now has congestion, gridlock traffic on the weekends going through downtown on Saturdays and Sundays.....Yes, Sundays......people just take to their cars and joy ride, and the volume of traffic creates a bottleneck effect between the hours of 11 in the morning til 5 in the afternoon....It’s ridiculous.....

    Obviously made pre- I-75 toll lanes, which run approx from just South of I-75 at the intersection of I-75 and I- 285 interchange north to Allatoona Lake. This area is( ~7 miles) one of the worst traffic areas in the USA. Made for passenger cars/lite truck/van(s). It is also reversible which is great. Again, not made for tractor trailers, so it is less nerve racking. Good luck to all.

    • @christfollower7315

      96 Rock became an alternative rock station in the early 2000s called "Project 961". It was later changed to a pop/hip hop type station called "Power 96".
      Rock 100.5 kind of fills the role that 96 Rock had. There's also Alt 105.7 for alternative rock, as well as 97.1 the River for classic hits/rock.

    Also, the patch of freeway @ about 6:30 (West Paces Ferry exit) is running through Atlanta's most wealthy neighborhoods. Arthur Blank (co founder of Home Depot) lives back there and houses there regularly go for well over 10 million.

    I visited Atlanta once and the traffic was pretty bad. Is it true that Atlanta’s traffic is always bad or isn't it???

      Ashanae, I make it a point to only drive through Atlanta on the weekends and the traffic is moderate, I can only imagine how busy the traffic is on the weekdays, I also heard stay off I-285.

      Some of the worst in the nation. It’s actually gotten much worse in the last five years. Collapses, construction, congestion, and growth...have only compounded the problem. I drive to downtown/midtown several times a week, it’s quite an experience every time.

    At 5:10, the signing for those movements is the most difficult Interstate signing I've had to design. There are four exits within spitting distance. There are HOV lanes. But the major problem is lack of driver expectancy: You stay in the right lanes to go left, and vice versa. We had a bad crash every two days there. Because some dumb ass back in the 1970s/80s made a poor decision to do things on the cheap. Now it will be that way forever.

      What happens if we keep stay at the left lane?

    • @TomAdams63
      @TomAdams63 Před 3 lety

      @@nishalsubba6445 In America, where we drive on the right, the left lane is reserved for passing. It is not meant to be a travel lane and indeed many states have laws written to enforce this. Now, in congested urban areas traveling in the left lane sometimes cannot be avoided. But out in rural, less congested areas, there really is no need to travel in the left lane. The problem is that some drivers think it is fun to intentionally drive slowly to keep others behind them. I don't know why they think this is fun but I've seen it too many times to count. It can cause a dangerous situation for all drivers, possibly leading to incidents of road rage.

    Not being ugly but on what planet was this Atlanta on? Usually traffic through ATL is horrendous morning, noon, and night. I've always joked that rush hour in ATL was from midnight to midnight. You've got to be careful rolling through the city in general.

    This confuses me as I'm from the UK, and here it's illegal to undertake. Also you have to keep going back to the outer lane and use the inside lanes for overtaking purposes only.

    • @swinde
      @swinde Před 7 lety

      Pretty hard to comply with that with the traffic densities in major areas in the USA. This freeway is EIGHT LANES in both direction at some points. Keeping in the "right lane" except when passing is ridiculous. On the highways between cities where there are only two lanes each way the rule applies, but some dumb drivers do not seem to understand.

    • @yoshidadaimyo3507
      @yoshidadaimyo3507 Před 4 lety

      We have that rule here in the US. But most drivers seem not to know it or just dont care and its never enforced. On major freeways like the Connector in Atlanta it would be hard to follow anyway because you have exits on either side and 8 lanes in one direction so lots of cross traffic. People moving over to get in the exit lane b4 its too late.

    Atlanta has a lot of massive freeways because there is no grid. it is a suburban oriented city. it has a lot to offer as far as amenities. at the strert level its very tacky and unorganized. Atlanta is much faster paced then it is.
