- In this video I find the donor 8.8 axle in the junkyard. Bring it back to the garage and disassemble it in prep for installing into the ranger.

Great videos, I'm gonna be doing this to my 2007 Ranger XLT. 🤓
Thank you 👍
FWIW: If you want a drop in 8.8 31 spline rearend for your Ranger, find one out of a 2002 FX4 Off Road, or a 2003 FX4 Level II. They both came with 31 spline axles and Torsen differentials.
That is very true, except they wont have disc brakes :(
perfect camera angles
My 93 ranger splash came with a 8.8 rear and front/ rear sway bar
Those Splash models had some pretty nice upgraded options
Does that have a drum and disc brakes how much did you pay for the part in American dollars
Part 2?? Most ranger enthusiasts arent documenting their installs
Part 2 should be coming in a couple weeks! Thanks for following along
Why remove the sway bar ? It’s a drastic improvement to the handling, at least in my opinion. I don’t understand why no one ever uses it ?
I agree. It makes a big difference on handling.
what year is the explorer from and what engine does it have 8.8?
I believe this was a 1998 Ford explorer and it had the 4.0L engine
@@paule01 thank you very much for the answer, I follow you with great pleasure, I also ordered the 4/5djm kit and I will continue to steal some ideas from you, I hope you don't mind.
@@predasorin I dont mind at all, that is why I make the videos, to help and inspire anyone who wants to do it as well! 👍
For the ignorant - why are you doing this?
Thats a great question and now that I think of it I probably should of explained in the video. The 8.8 rear end has disc brakes, limited slip differential and stronger axles. My Ranger came factory with a 7.5 rear end, drum brakes and a open differential.
@@paule01 So better braking and 4x4ing ?
@@RubenAvila Exactly, you got it 👍
@@paule01 Every once in awhile I'm not too stupid 😂 this looks really cool
@@RubenAvila haha thanks man and dont sweat it
