Ugh...the neverending saga of the light gun at home. This is definitely an improvement, especially with the camera. How are we in 2020 and we haven't figured this out but we have self-driving cars? Whoever figures out how to do this hassle-free, plug-n-play for many, if not all, consoles/emulators/PIs/Pandoras, is going to be a hero.
Honestly, save for sticking sensors all over your screen, I think this is as hassle free as it gets, since it pretty much puts the sensor "inside" of the screen. This means that a part of the screen gets taken over with a solid coloured border, yes. But I think it's a relatively small price to pay for everything else it has to offer.
Outstanding. My two don't arrive until November. I had seen an earlier video of yours where you mentioned that yours was arriving soon and I was wondering how long it would take for you to try it out. Not long evidently. Glad to see it's looking like it's all that it was claimed to be. Can't wait to get mine and try them out. I got the recoil ones so hopefully they work just the same.
I’ve been anxiously awaiting review videos on these - thank you! Please please please do some Time Crisis 2 & 3 on the PlayStation 2! That’s what I’m dying to see 😃😃😃
Sadly I have a Sinden Lightgun I tried creating the MOD Andy showed in his video for the PS2 and I wasnt able to accomplish it, its a difficult set up to put together and Im hoping a MOD gets created for all PS2 and Retro console owners to use.
@@TheAccountant1000 My mouse cursor wiggles left and right rapidly. Is yours steady because I've tried all settings and this thing wiggles all over the place.
I've been waiting for this and didn't know it was available now, I still wish there was a wireless version, but I will go ahead with 2 x Sinden Emulations guns as a I have a massive arcade library collection.
Yes itll work on RPI. But youre better off being able to play all the lightgun games out there on a better computer with a decent GPU...i guess you could try to use a linux setup with retropie and regular pc rig but I woukd recommend big box or hyperspin or something for the front-end.
November? Are you with indiegogo orders? I'm indiegogo order too but I thought it was October we're getting them? I ordered soon as indiegogo went live back in May
@@pooertgaming8241 it depends *what* you ordered and *when* you ordered it. The non-recoil guns sold out fast and another batch were setup for a 2nd delivery date later on...and the recoil guns had a delay due to the solenoid delivery being late, so all of the first recoil guns were due to ship in November.
Great video Drew. I have 2 recoil guns on order. Did you get your gun through the beta testing program? I signed up for that, but guess since the recoil models aren't ready yet, they didn't send me out ones to test. I can't wait to get mine with the recoil.
Thanks for the review. You've got me totally jonesing for when my dual recoil setup gets here eventually. Somebody needs to make a 3D printed shotgun/long gun add-on for the gun so you can play some of the other games a little more realistically.
I'm waiting for my two recoil guns to arrive and have some rail shooters ready to play on steam. I've not got any experience playing with pc emulators so not sure where to start. Can't wait though. Thanks for your video
I hope in the future will get either different style guns or maybe addons for the Sinden Lightgun? getting a Scope for example would be amazing for like simulating the Silent Scope Sniper Rifle or to simulate the Super Scope or the SEGA Menacer
Hopefully they do great enough for making a wireless version in the future, as well as a larger one, so i can hold to rest and have more accuracy at the same time, which makes me think, has anyone bringed a concept like this but for the guitar hero instruments!? Those ones need these sort of modern treatment
So its an updated version of the original NAMCO G-Con. That was the first light gun to use a camera to capture where the beam of light hitting the CRT or Rear Pro TV.
Just bought 2 Showcase arcade standups i'm trying to convert into PC mame systems, one was a Tekken 4 the other was Area 51/Maximum Force. I want every gun game on multiple systems on the Area 51 machine. These guns came out at just the right time. Hooking up the CRT on the Tekken 4 machine (that has an VGA hookup and a Jamma board ) is a nightmare to get working. I really wanna keep the CRT display on the main arcade machine , but it is driving me nutz. For the gun machine i have a huge 40" CRT tv from the 90s i plan to use it just barley fits on the unmodified cabinet.
Very nice, I guess I could get use to the white border. Could you please test some teknoparrot and arcade Rips like time crisis 5, Rambo, 2 spicy, operation ghost, etc...
Andy is super busy right now. I've emailed back and forth with him several times and it just takes a little patience. Pandemic and the launch of his first batch are a ton to overcome.
so i just randomly stumbled upon this video and have zero idea about this topic, how does it work? i thought older tv's were only compatible with it? does it have a sensor bar thats tracking the gun? and a shot is just a small flash that triggers the sensor bar? honestly looks like a lot of fun, i might get into it if its not super complicated! already got myself a retropie 4 some days ago and i love it. im somehow discovering my love for older and retro gaming
You convinced me, just got it. Can you test Sega Games? Master System, Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast? Maybe some Playstation/PS2? thanks, this thing looks insane. Tried many in past and just never worked right (light bars, M.A.G. gun, etc).
So you mentioned it hijacks your mouse inputs and to be careful / mindful of it. I think it's had the opposite effect and now I'm curious if I can use it INSTEAD of a mouse, because being able to navigate simple functions by shooting your tv could be dope
Love to see that with the time crysis 5, great to see a tutorial on how you get that working with that game. Great video Drew.....I too am a light gun fan. Tried the AimTrak Bluetooth mod to make them wireless and had a heck of a time getting 2 of them to work together and with so many issues with the calibration on those I was jonesing for the Sinden. i didnt get the calibrate screen in the software woth all those arrows, its not a regular calibration screen...what you need to do there, where do you need to aim and click the trigger?
we need guns that work with old consoles i dont wanna be only able to use it with emulation. still this is a great acheivement and if its the best for now then i commend the developers of this lightgun.
What I would love to know Drew is, can you play 4 players on a raspberry pi 4 and have 2 sinden light guns connected as well. So in theory there'd be 6 players.
The Aimtrak was a total joke, but at the time it was really about the only reasonably priced option if you didn't have a CRT and didn't like the EMS TopGun variants. I do recall watching a lot of videos on the Sinden, and as good as it is, there was something that came up in one video that pretty much made it a deal killer for me. Besides the border around the screen, i could live with that by not using my CRT, there was something else, and it may have been due to the distance away from screen or usable range, which is absolutely no issue with a CRT light gun, even on a 120" screen you stand where you like and it works.
Yeah the distance thing can suck if you're to close but you can move any where you want as long as the gun cam can see the whole screen. I do like the gun4 IR for a deticated cab but the sinden is the right one for me as I use it on multiple monitors and TVs.
@@wheresmycan would suit a cab for sure, you'd always be pretty near the same distance away there too. I've had a good run of fun with the Guncon 2 lately on my Panasonic rear projection TV, i even grabbed a couple videos, it is great, once you calibrate it there is no difference regardless of where you move.
@@CaseTheCorvetteMan That's great, I love that light guns seem to have come back especially with the somewhat modern light gun arcade games that are emulated.
Dumb question, would I need an extreme sensor along with the gun for full use? Also do you have an videos for someone just getting started with getting started with a game library?
Here’s hoping they get OG Xbox support eventually. Would love it even more if it could support the arcade emulators shooting games. Was a late one model backer so I’m going to be waiting a bit still.
It works great! You'll have to stand about 1.5 times the distance of your projector (so that your sinden lightguns see the full border around the entire display and can calculate where the lightgun is pointing at the screen). In other words, if you have a 120 inch projector pointing at a wall or screen you'll need to stand about 180 inches (15 feet) away from the wall/screen. You might be able to stand a little closer...but the rule of thumb per Andy @ Sinden Guns is to stand 1.5 times the distance of your display so the guns can see the entire border around the display for tracking. I love mine. I couldnt stand so far back, so you can always make your projector do a smaller display size like 80 inches if necessary, depending on how much space you have in your room so that you can stand further back. Enjoy your new sinden guns when you get them!
No at the current time this will not run on Hyperspin with windows 10, I know because I have a hyperspin PC with Windows 10 and a Sinden Light gun and the gun is not compatible with it even after intalling the Sinden lightgun software. Unless Carlos updates us on the setup its currently not compatible
Is the white border around the screen necessary for it to work? I understand it's needed for reference, but could the same reference be achieved if you, say, cut out thick sheets of white paper and taped them around the edges of your monitor?
That's a legit question, i am not sure if you need to tell the software which boarder you are using sonic you could tell the software then again the white border is backlit from the LEDs sooo a bit tricky I am sure. I don't think you can the more I think about it but maybe possible in the future
they need to develop a pedal now.. as asinine as that might sound. sell the whole 2 player kit and it'd be the ultimate kit. also a shotgun with kickback and pump.

Looks great I can't wait for my 2 to arrive. Would.love to see teknoparrot transformers Inc setup for noobs. For some reason I can't shoot the right hand side of the screen on that game only 2/3 of the screen and I can't get it to run at anything other than 720p..,. Thanks. And looking forward to more content. I wonder if I can pay more and upgrade one of my guns to recoil?
Great video 👍 I’m having an issue with hyperspin and my Sinden light gun. When ever I try to shoot targets near the left or right edges my gun re-centers, so I can’t hit the targets at the edges of the screen. I think it’s because the bezels overlap the game screen. Would you know how to make the game image overlap the bezels? Any suggestions?
The curvature of the camera feed has absolutely nothing to do with CRT TVs being slightly rounded. The curvature is caused because the gun is using a wide FOV lens which is causing a fisheye effect because you're too close to the screen.
Excited to get mine. Thanks for taking the time to go over it. I hope this gives a little bit of a push for more light gun games.

I’m having an issue with hyperspin and my Sinden light gun. When ever I try to shoot targets near the left or right edges my gun re-centers, so I can’t hit the targets at the edges of the screen. I think it’s because the bezels overlap the game screen. Would you know how to make the game image overlap the bezels?
Any suggestions?
In the sindin light gun software you can change the size of the edges

Thank you I will try that out.
The curvature of the camera feed has absolutely nothing to do with CRT TVs being slightly rounded. The curvature is caused because the gun is using a wide FOV lens which is causing a fisheye effect because you're too close to the screen.
The gun is amazing but what do they cost?
