  • Here's how I repaired the water-pump seal on my CX500, without removing the engine from the frame.
So far the repair seems to work. The original seals are also glued, so it is a matter of finding the right glue.

Excellent video mate. I finally understand what each bit does and will do mine. I've got Permatex water pump gasket maker which was recommended in another video to stick it to the cup but now wonder if it's strong enough as it's not a glue?

From what I can see, Permatex is just a type of silikone. I would definitely not use that to glue the seal. You need something strong there. The silikone may work to seal the housing, in case the rubber seal has gone hard.

thanks, super helpful as I shop for a good sample of the CX500... is this bike (gearing) good at 70 all dayish? Got any punch left at that speed?... thanks again.

Hello, thanks for the testing and great video. So my question is, did it work for the last summer or does it still work? What is your experience so far. Thanks a lot

Hello, thanks for the comment. I hardly ever use the bike, which is the worst case, as the grapite ring sticks to the ceramic ring after some time. Last Sunday I started the bike after five months of rest, and the seal is still working perfectly.

Sorry, I sold the bike a longtime ago. Never heard from the buyer, and he knows about the video, so I assume that all went well.
