Actually in the iPads you won’t get a battery health option, Like the iPhones.

I just got a used on in fantastic condition for a very good price. They gave me a good price for the Wi-Fi only version but turns out they’ve given me a cellular version and didn’t realise…..

I wanted to buy an IPad Air the whole time. But then out of nowhere I picked up an used iPad Pro 2018 and I don’t regret it at all. My friend got an IPad Air 3 and after just 1 week the 120hz display made a huge different for me. Especially for notes and art
It's weird that he says that the pro has higher refresh rate but the latency is basically the same. How does it make the note taking experience better if the latency is the same?

I have the 2018 iPad Pro 12.9” and would not consider anything but the Pro. It is the most wonderful device. I use mine more than 10 hours most days for everything from work to video viewing to playing music. After 2-years use I still love it!

I found a really good deal on an open box 2020 iPad Pro 11 inch at Best Buy and decided to go with that. I had been using a 2017 iPad Pro 10.5 inch. I use the iPad a lot for work, for travel, and for zoom meetings too. I really like your videos a lot. They are very helpful.

This is exactly what I needed! They were both the same price so I went with the Air 4 at the last minute. I couldn't justify spending $600 on something almost 3 years old. I was also worried about the battery after 2 to 3 years of owning it, the battery would be 5 to 6 years old. I feel like I would be chained to the power outlet. I'm also not a power user, just media and web surfing.

3 years old and has still better processor , better display , slightly bigger , an double refresh rate
I bought old ipads from 2012 in 2019 and am amazed how the battery is at 96% the original capacity. I checked with coconut battery. Apple is different now since steve isnt around as before you can bet after 6 months your device would be obsolete and slow.

I’m one of those people who always want to upgrade. I got my 12.9 2018 Pro last year and haven’t given any newer tablet a second thought since. This thing is a beast and will be a beast till it dies or breaks.
Same as soon as I saw the 2018 iPad pros launch I got one right away and it is just as fast today as it was two years ago. I use everything like the pencil for note taking and the magic keyboard which is great

I have the 2015 iPad Pro and the 2018 iPad Pro. My wife’s old iPad recently died and she decided to get the 2020 iPad Pro. She considered an iPad Air but wanted the additional memory available with the Pro, the 4 speakers with the Pro, the screen refresh rate with the Pro, the slightly greater screen brightness with the Pro, and the face recognition on the Pro.

I got the Pro 2018 now in excellent condition! No regrets. 120hz is lit!
I haven't had an iPad since it first came out. But the Air 4 is a gorgeous piece of technology. The A14 is the latest and greatest that will last for years to come. Gaming is smooth as butter. Carrying it around feels like a feather. Holding the flat edges feels like an expensive portal to the internet world.

I completely lucked out this August and got a brand new IPad Pro 11 2018 64GB from Best Buy Canada. It also came with a Speck Folio case and Toucan Glass screen protector. Aside from using a leftover BestBuy gift card.the price was $799CDN, plus tax, which is like $6 US😬 This review confirms, that on par, the 2018 is better than the Air 4 save, perhaps future iPad OS support, and some raw single processor tasks (A14 vs A12X)
Would buying a refurbished iPad Pro as opposed to a used one make any difference when debating whether to buy the Pro or the Air 4? (The refurbished pro is cheaper than a brand new Air 4)

For me there is no difference except for the 120 hz.I know there is a little difference in performance but still definitely gonna go for 2018 iPad Pro

The flash light is actually more useful than the back facing camera for my usage.
Great video! Noah, Really having a hard time deciding between an iPad Air (4) 64gb with the magic keyboard and pencil or the new Pro 11” and wait/save for the extras. Wait for it to ship and wait for the pencil and keyboard as I save for a few months to get those accessories. Or get the 64 air. My budget is very tight, but I’ll get the education discount. The difference between the 256 air and 128 pro is like $50. But the 64 air would give me room for those necessary accessories and no waiting. I sold my MacBook Air laptop to make this happen. I have a desktop iMac I rarely use.
Main use for iPad will be writing papers, web browsing, email, bit of zoom, media consumption and streaming, reading, editing photos, note taking and light drawing. Playing some games. It will be my first iPad in many years and I’m really excited.
What would you do? Is 64gb enough? I should also mention I have a ton of iCloud storage. 1 terabyte.
My take on this is if you like the colors and want an extra year of support go for the Air, otherwise, pick up the 2018 iPad Pro, it's a much better value even though it's used but the Air is not that bad either. If you have a lower budget I would choose something like the iPad 8th generation or the iPad Air 3 from last year.
i feel like color choice is kinda irrelevant since you’ll most likely be using a case on your ipad (unless it’s one of those cases that show the color of the ipad) but that’s my personal take, otherwise iPad pro would be the way to go

I was gonna buy the 2020 11inch iPad Pro but I upgraded from the 2014 iPad Air 2 to the 2020 iPad Air 4. It’s a huge upgrade for me.

Just bought an Apple certified refurbished 2018 iPad Pro 12.9. It was less than a new iPad Air with same configuration. AppleCare still applies too
And they come with a new battery and outer shell!
The air does have antenna bands if you buy the cellular model.
Where would you recommend getting a 2018 pro?
Very tough choice indeed between the two, but if you managed to find a well used 2018 pro definitely go for that. Although bare in mind that over 1000 days of usage is bound to have some wear and tear in the parts and component, battery capacity, switches, buttons, face ID not working etc.
Why face id not working after some time?

I got the 12.9 ipad pro 6th generation and it’s unbelievable how good it is
Pro - 120hz screen, flash (if u even care about that), slight graphical improvement, Face ID, better speakers
Air - possibly longer support from Apple (iPadOS updates), different colors, worse display (although still great),
Honestly I say the pro is a better choice as u can find them for similar prices

I actually don’t think that the Air will get supported much longer. The A14 obviously has a better single core performance than the A12X, but that one is just used for small tasks like opening apps. The A12X still has a slightly better multi core performance. So I think it would be the case as with the iPad Air 2, which got supported for 8 years.
So yes, the iPad Pro 2018 is a much better choice.

I got the first iPad pro and for 5 years ir tan like a beast, I sold it because battery was not preforming as well and it was becoming an older device, but not because it went slow or obsolete. Apple makes quality products. A refurbished 2018 pro should last a while.

Noah, would you make the same recommendations for these two devices in Mar 2023? I'm looking to buy an iPad used and am considering the iPad 9, ipad air 4, and the Pro 1st gen. I see them in good condition going for about 4-450 usd. I'm living outside of the US so pricing is much higher here as second hand devices are harder to come by. The 9th is basically new (still has apple guarantee 8mths) and I think the air 4 is about a year old.

i really love the iPad Air 4 but I hate that it doesn't have a lightning function. it annoys me a lot because I scan documents on a daily basis and sometimes lightning would be very helpful!
For most people using a standard that every device will use it much easier. You can also buy a $1 replacement cable
