    As usual youre doing great work Graham. If only this around 10-20yrs agao when pintos and forum talk was at its most popular. Would've solved a lot of arguments back then and dispelled a lot of the bullshit. Great investment.

    Another really interesting back to back test, if I had to choose I'd go with the BF, even though down on power it would probably be a better all rounder.

    Very informative and well-founded. The result of the Bf63 surprised me a little. I would be very interested in a comparison between the KC camshafts GTS7 and HT1e. I will continue to follow it with great interest. Cross my fingers and wish you a good start to 2024, Graham.

    So good seeing what I used to run in my old escort
    Pintos may not be like modern engines but they were simple good honest engines when BDA And BDG were out the Finacial budget , you can’t beat the sound of a set of 50 loyd webbers 😊

      I salute your words "Draughts on full chat" carnt beat them,remember the rally's in Sutton park,all Super cars flew by (Quattro Lancia) every one started walk-in towards there cars,next minute Escorts,Manta's Vauxhall's,and others had "Draughts"belching,we would be running top speed to get our position back watch the action we could relate to our road cars,those were the days.

    Another great video Graham, thank you. Burnt fingers, did make me chuckle, sorry. So many decisions to make here and the end part was a great indicator of cam versus usage. Me personally, speed is not what I am after its the out of the corner torque where I'd be happy. Just need to pull my finger out and get on with the engine.

    My pinto engine in my Pinto had that Holley 390 CFM carb and manifold. I loved it. Very smooth with no bog. My first updated cam was too much for the street, Had to be over 3000 rpm to come off the clutch. Second one had a flatter curve.
    BTW, my machinist had had success milling the head for compression so he took 0.1" off. I never had a problem with it. Manley also used to make a set of valves with a bigger Intake and a re-contoured Ext. I added a pointless ignition which improved the high end probably due to timing accuracy.
    It was still pulling hard over 8000 RPM, but the gearing wasn't usable. I also found a 4.10:1 rear in the junk yard!

      yes 0.1" off is common and about the limit to what you can remove

    • @PenguinMotors
      @PenguinMotors  Před 8 měsíci +2

      thanks, i do get commenst sometime that its pointless testing certain carb engine combinations because thats not what the professionals would use, but thats exactly why i do it, if mr DIY see a certain carb on an engine he will want to try it, not knowing that it may only work with a certain cam

    • @jeff.5380
      @jeff.5380 Před 8 měsíci

      @@PenguinMotors what a load of rubbish saying what you're sharing with us is pointless. With your back to back testing I'm sure you've helped a lot of DIY builders (and maybe professionals) make the right decision depending on their budget and exactly what they want from their engine.

    Looks like the button although lower overall is lower, is the better choice. Who wants to being going past 5500rpm all tbe time for that extra gain.
    I’d much sooner have the gains low down at Norma road use.
    It’d be interesting to see a standard cam curve on there as well.

      back in the day the magic capacity was 1650cc, the short stroke means 1700 isnt really on, unless you have a thickwall block or liners fitted. it will respond well to all the usual mods BVH, compression cam etc

    would be interesting to compare lobe acceleration rates, but the GTS cam has more intake open time, esp after BDC. I suppose I could look up specs of either cam, but what cam makers list is very deceptive. The BF cam is far better as a fast road cam. In fact unless you have a close ratio gearbox the GTS cam probably no better on a short circuit
