All of the gowns were absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!! But I LOVED Alicia Keys New York City skyline!! That was soooo cool!! Blake’s was a super pick for number one!! All of the gowns/costumes had so much thought put into them!! Another beautiful video!! 💕

Ms Mojo, you really missed on this list. Red Carpet does NOT equal Gilded Age Theme, which was the mid to late 1800s. Too many fails for designers who went Hollywood Golden Age or no time period at all.

I feel alot of these people you liked missed the assignment. It was the Gilded age which was the time period of 1870 to 1890. I would have liked to see more gowns that were about that time period because dresses during that time were so pretty.
OMG-Blake Lively's gown & accessories were absolutely breathtaking! It is one of the most beautiful of all-time for any celebrity award show or event. WOW!
Blake Lively has NEVER had a stylist. She collaborated and inspired the design of the dress, including insisting on the correct number of windows on her crown, another nod to the Statue of Liberry. I cannot imagine anyone up staging this moment, ever. It is sublime, perfectly responding to the assignment while clearly expressing New York and the Golden Age in subtle elegant notes.

The theme was GILDED Age, not Golden Age. Her dress was beautiful BUT had nothing to do with the Gilded Age and evth to do with modern New York.

@@feralkat9370 Her dress is specifically inspired by the Statue of Liberty and Grand Central (or it's predecessor) which were both built during the Gilded age. Also the dress before the transformation looks like an interesting take on a bustle. I think it's a very good interpretation of the theme

While I loved other dresses, I have to give props to Blake's dress. She wore it well, the colors were spectacular, and it's nice to see that her look is being greatly noticed.

Your top spot was on point, but overall, I was disappointed to see how few designers actually met the theme of the gala, even on this list. A number of them were great red carpet looks, but not the gilded age. Sigh.

But some dresses did make sense after the celeb explained the meaning behind it, i thought gigi's dress was completely unrelated until she explained and it really made sense

Ms. Lively’s entrance at this years Met Gala has forever enshrined her in the top tier of fashion icons and gave all of us a much-needed feel good moment in todays difficult times. The joy on her face was palpable, the dress was both classical in its elegance and fashion forward in its execution, and Ms Livelys entrance had all the markings of a great occasion. This moment will be remembered as a seminal one in fashion and hopefully in Ms Livelys career. I never thought fashion could excite me in this way!
You guys gotta start doing two separate lists for the looks on theme and the ones that aren’t lol cause even though they’re cute half of these looks were off theme. Billie and Sarah are more deserving lol
And the comment calling Lizzo's look Renaissance when it was one of the few truly Gilded Age inspired looks was pretty frustrating. It just proves whoever wrote the script knows just as little about the Gilded Age as many of the stars, or their designers

I have no idea who Teyana Taylor is (I presume this is yet another piece of evidence establishing my older age) but her dress and her headgear (mainly her headgear…or whatever it should be called) was jaw dropping beautiful.

Someone else made a competent that her outfit and headgear didn’t match the Gilded Age theme. I kept thinking that many of the attendees failed to grasp the New York Gilded Age theme. HBO PLUS even has an original series about the Gilded Age.

It's a crime that Sabrina Carpenter wasn't even an honorable mention, especially for her first time at the met and when she was more on the theme of gilded than some of the other people on this list

Most of them are not following the theme which why have it and not follow? That's like the best part of the whole Met Gala. And Kim wearing (quite poorly too) THE Marilyn Monroe dress is a real insult to everybody.

I think we throw around the word ICON a little too loosely. While I enjoyed Maude Apatows look and glam i wouldn't call her a style icon. She hasn't been in the limelight long enough to earn such a title. Perhaps she will give us more boundary pushing looks throughout her career, but wouldn't call her an ICON such as say Rihanna or Lady Gaga or Sarah Jessica parker etc. For example

This year was very underwhelming. Most of the looks didn’t fit the theme. I like Lizzo,Blake, Alicia, and janelle. I say Blake was more on the theme than the other ladies I like. Janelle gave great gatsby vibes.

the theme was an homage to “the gilded age” not the use of gilded as in “gilded in gold”. it was meant as a nod to the fashion of that time, so there didn’t necessarily need to be sparkle and shine - but conveying opulence was definitely key
