How to make a stand for your MOTU figures based on Castle Grayskull. Great for beginners!
Great video. Thanks for the in-depth walk through of your process. Fascinating.
Thanks for watching Dave. Appreciate you taking the time.
My pleasure. Really enjoying your videos.
That’s really encouraging to hear @@toypolloi
Welcome to my channel MOTU fans. Hope you enjoy this video and please feel free to leave ideas for future makes 👍❤️
great Video, i make stop motion and use foam to built my sets. I like the idea of using the hot wire cutter to make the details instead of a pencil. Will need to try that next time.
Thanks for watching PMZTV. Love the stop motion technique, just checked out one of your videos, great work! If you are going to use the wire cutter for details, remember to cater in the spread you get as the foam melts so you won’t get really fine lines as you would with a pencil
Awesome video, thank you!
Thanks for watching and commenting. Appreciate the feedback 👍
Awesome work!
Thank you! Appreciate the support 😁
Really good looking stands there mate!
Thanks Ex Inferis, really appreciate you watching 👍

Thank you Hydeman 👊
Nice work, subscribed!
Thanks for subscribing Jason. I really value you taking the time to watch and comment. Got a new vid coming shortly 😄
Nice job! cheers!
Thanks Ryan, I appreciate the feedback 👊
Great tutorial! Do you have a link to where we can find that foam? That would be dope!
Thanks HBP. It depends where you are based. In the UK I get mine from Tilgear, link here www.tilgear.info/materials/plastic-materials/modelling-foam/sty050fbl-styrofoam-blocks-50-x-500-x-600mm - I’ve head Lowes home improvement sell it in America. I’m sure stockists would come up if you google it. Hope that helps and thanks for watching👍😁
Hello. Very nice video. Thanks for sharing. What kind of material do you use? Is that Styropor or something different?
Thanks for watching. It’s just craft styrofoam
@@dazatronsdioramallama6370 Ah, okay. Thanks a lot for the fast answer.
No problem. The styrofoam in the uk is grey whereas in the US it’s blue, if that’s of any help
@@dazatronsdioramallama6370 👍

What fid you use to glue the bottom to the side piece?
I use Gorilla glue - use very sparingly though as it can expand but it gives a really strong bond
is there something you can use on top of it to give it a hard shell? and protect the foam?
What kind of foam are you using?
Good question Michael. You can use Mod Podge over the top to create a hardened finish. The foam I use is high density foam or craft foam. It comes in either grey, blue or pink usually. Hope that helps 👍

awesome...can you show how to diy castle grayskull ...im trying to do one...but i need help
Wow Bobby, now there’s a project. I tend to aim my videos at beginners. To complete a whole castle Grayskull would be on a more advanced level mainly because of the level of sculpting needed for the skull itself. I am looking to create a “breakout” based on the toy towers from the Grayskull toy so keep an eye out for that one.
What type of foam is this?
Styrofoam I think 🤔
Yep it’s styrofoam 👍
What kind of colors do you use? ist it oil based?
Just regular acrylics - anything I can grab hold of. For this make, I used grey to prime the styrofoam then dry brushed with a light green and an aqua blue.
@@dazatronsdioramallama6370 Thx mate, highly appreciated!
Could you use a soldering iron to "carve" the lines?
I haven’t tried it but I don’t see why that wouldn’t work just remember you do get some spread so however thick the tip of the soldering iron is your lines will be wider. Let me know how you get on 👍
@@dazatronsdioramallama6370 Nice one - I'll give it a go - will do and thanks for a great video
Depending on how wide and deep you want the lines, even a pencil will work on styrofoam 😊
Thanks for watching 👊@@Dave1502
Use a ball poont pen.
You can use those pieces for any terrain not just he-man
Absolutely. All of the tutorials on this channel could be customised for different franchises. Thanks for watching and commenting 👊
why do you have women's hands?
🤣 my wife and daughter hate the fact that my nails grow at a considerable rate. I just can’t be bothered to trim them half the time. It is a pain in the arse when working with styrofoam though 😁
My goodness, do it outside or with proper ventillation. Don't breath in the plastic fumes.
Thanks for the concern Robert. I do tend to wear a ventilation mask now or cut the foam in a well ventilated area
