Yeah. The bass line of "Hymn" is my all time favorite. It comes so often to my mind and I am humming it for no reason so many times. Bye Chris.

That’s exactly how I am feeling! Such a release of memories and emotions, so blessed to have grown up in the 80’s. I was lucky enough to see Midge last year (2023) at the 80’s gig in Shrewsbury, if you’ve never been…..go!

Only a small handful of bands from the 80s and earlier can play live with the same intensity as they had in their youth....They played that stage like it was fucking LIVE AID 1985....I am so proud of them. Midge Ure is such an inspiration to me as a musician and living proof that even just one member change can transform the entire band and its career. Great frontman! Love that moment when he got the crowd pumped about Billy Currie's epic synth solo. One of the greatest musical interludes I have ever heard in a song.

No it does not. It is played in a lower key. Easier to sing. But I must admit... the song has not lost its magic. It is still a hymn. :-)

I had the privilege of opening for Midge at a concert in the late 80s....most powerful music time of my life. And Midge is the coolest, nicest guy you could ever know.

I saw Ultravox live in the early 80s at the Kabuki Theater on Geary in San Francisco. I was so lucky that I scored a ticket, as this show sold out big time. None of my friends, who wanted to see this concert, got in. It was quite a treat, pure bliss... 😎

They're fantastic!
This is how British pop music once was. They murdered it with rap and sub mediocre solo artists, instead of having pop groups/rock bands like this as it's core format.
Amen to that...I had high hopes for this band, but as fate would have it, they will remain a legendary band for those who followed their short career.
I did indeed follow them! I was absolutely mad about Ultravox, such a Shame it didn't last for long...

@@XanAxDdu His name is JIM which says MIJ backwards (spelled Midge to avoid confusion). He changed it because in his original band there were two people called Jim. I had the pleasure of supporting the band SLIK some years ago and Midge Ure is a gentleman and proper musician. He never gets the credit he deserves for his idea to have BAND AID as Bob Geldof took over as the front man for that. Midge Ure remains one of my favourite guys in music.
@@bobinscotland hello, yes i know about midge ure, and how english gentleman he is you can feel it by his singing way. i am a fan since 1984 ultravox the collection, i was thirteen and on mtv there were dancing with tears in my eyes one small day hymn. ultravox simple minds and eurythmics were my entrance into rock music in general, considering top ten was full of synth pop. before i knew led zeppelin, yes and the rest i mean

I second AudioAgenda's thoughts here; one of the greatest bands ever, not just out of the UK. I can't even watch this without getting goosebumps. I still have every album they ever made, on cassette tapes, vinyl and CD....all of them I still have. I love many other bands and artists from the 80's but Ultravox stands alone as the greatest of all time, in my opinion. I would have given ANYTHING to be able to be there at this concert!
Saw the RTE concert in Bournemouth ,well worth the plane ride from Washington DC!
