    You didn’t mention that the cleaning tool has the round end removable, which covers a very fine spike that can be used to clear the hole in the dual wall filter baskets. If you bother to use them.

    One note about the plastic inside the portafilter: I think its purpose has less to do with guiding flow and more to do with preventing the portafilter from sapping heat away from the espresso as it flows though. Because these Breville machines can pull shots very quickly after being turned on, there's usually not enough time given to preheat the portafilter before use. When that's the case, the plastic minimizes contact between the hot liquid and cold metal. You can still get rid of the plastic piece, but preheating the portafilter by flushing the group head through it would be a good idea. Or use a bottomless portafilter.

    • @9385dee7
      @9385dee7 Před 3 lety +3

      I preheat my portafilter and mug in hot water while I'm grinding. I will also quickly purge the shower screen to get rid of old grounds. This also helps the portafilter go on very easily without the machine moving at all.
      The preheating is great at keeping my espresso warm!

    I'm sorry for asking but where did you get the name Bambino "PRO"? As far as I know and have done some research, the Bambino models are only two. Bambino (the base model) and Bambino Plus. A Bambino Plus model is exactly the one you've got there. So again, the PRO name is only used in the Barista model,

  • @JR-kz7yx
    @JR-kz7yx Před rokem +17

    Better PRO TIP - I advise NO ONE to remove the plastic as this helps distribute the coffee cleaner and delivers a better crema. Removing the plastic makes the coffee spit out inconsistently, and additionally I have tried different 54mm portafilters with a double spout on this machine and the coffee spits out in a mess. I don't know why this is considered a 'pro tip' when it really isn't! I have this machine for over a year and have created really good coffee and latte art using the included aluminium portafilter. Since I have removed the plastic, the coffee not only gives a terrible crema result but the taste is somewhat horrible and sour. So NO, this tip of removing the plastic should NOT BE ADVISED and is there for this reason why they have it for this machine in the first place.

    • @bigglyguy8429
      @bigglyguy8429 Před 3 lety

      My suggestion is that you keep on saving. Home espresso is expensive. If you buy a cheap machine it will not last and you will never really be happy. Add to that the grinder, which should cost around the same or more than the machine, plus you need water filtration, and you'll need a lot of water for all the flushing and cleaning. Realistically you need to spend around $1500 as a minimum for home espresso. If you buy something like a Breville you're wasting money and you'll have to buy another one later, so put that money towards a really good machine, not a disposable appliance.

    Question for the experts...I have the Magnifica. It will pull single shot but not double. Pump sounds normal at start and quickly gets quiet with nothing coming out. I replaced pump with oem after 3 complete descaling procedures made no difference. Hot water and steam works good. Water comes out of espresso nozzles at startup and shutdown. I fully cleaned and lubricated the plunger assembly (even that plug and tiny hole below screen). No signs in tubing of scale buildup. I am at a loss. Any suggestions? Thanks!

    I had basket like that once. I used it for a while before I took it out. Underneath was a lot of black gunk.

      I have the breville BE and i just took it out yesterday. There was some water that had collected and could have easily caused issues.

      Why would a company obsessed with design make such a flaw in design?

      @@supercooled They don't expect the machine to last long enough to matter. They hope you put it in the cupboard and forget about it, or it will break down immediately after the warranty (mine only made it 7 months).

      @@bigglyguy8429 You know that is ridiculous. I'm sure your issue isn't unique but as a whole their company is doing something right to thrive.
      I have a Breville Air Fryer Smart Oven and it's been used sparingly and in fact, it's functioned more as a regular toaster oven than an air fryer and in hindsight, it's more of a showpiece than something I go to depend on as a workhorse. Prior to this, I had a Cuisinart toaster oven that performed dutifully and at a fraction of the cost. That said, I'm not going to fault Breville for having a cracking marketing team behind their brand. I tend to think of them as Apple. You can get something substantially cheaper and have it perform just as well but sacrifices have to be made.
      At any rate, I decided not to buy the Bambino Express or Plus as a $5 Ikea milk frother seems to produce as good a cup of cappuccino as well.

    How do you use the cleaning tablets that come with the machine?

    • @9385dee7
      @9385dee7 Před 3 lety +2

      The instruction manual details it.
      Single basket with the rubber cap, 1 tablet inside, and let the machine backflush.
      If your are talking about descaling it does not come with descaler. Buy some urex stuff.

      @@9385dee7 I would add that the instructions are misleading (on mine anyways). It indicates you need a full water tank and a 2lt container under but the tablet clean uses hardly any water. I thought it was broken but supposedly that is how it works and they didnt update manual

    You have to leave the plastic baffle in the portafilter, the Bambino WILL NOT HEAT the portafilter. The plastic baffle is there to prevent the shot from hitting a cold portafilter. Yes, virtually every other espresso machine will heat the PF, but the Bambino is not desigend to do so. Please don't give people bad advice man.

      On the product page they say to run 1-2 shots without coffee to run hot water through it and heat up the portafilter.

    Here's a great tip for the Breville Bambino - save your money and get a better machine. Mine only lasted 7 months, despite me living in a soft water area and religiously following the cleaning prompts. When people tell you these are appliance-grade and not real machines, they're right. Keep saving and go for something better.
