  • Hi friends! Welcome to all the new subs! I’m so happy you’re here!
    Today I’m sharing how I make faux breads you can use to stage vignettes in your own home!
    This is a pretty simple project for beginning crafter! I’ll be making more of these to sell in my booth and in craft fairs.
    Coffee Grunge Recipe:
    1 cup instant coffee grounds or used coffee grounds
    1/2 cup hot water
    1 TBS cinnamon
    1 tsp nutmeg
    1 TBS vanilla
    Combine all ingredients and shake well. Keep in fridge and warm up when needed for projects!
    We'd love to hear from you!

    Love the way they turned out. I have made these before and I learned two things from this video. First being the type foam you used. Mine was shiny and had to sand before painting. It was a real pain. And the second was to put cardboard down in the bottom of the pan to keep it from puffing on the bottom. Thank you for sharing!

    Thanks for sharing. I hear that if you lightly sand the foam first, the paint or grunge will adhere better on a pores surface vs the shiny surface the foam ends up after drying.

      What sealer did you use?

  • @Em22-wtf
    @Em22-wtf Před 11 měsíci +1

    You can't get the foam out of non stick pans. It actually pops right out of the aluminum ones though. Been making these for YEARS.
    If you poke the breads W a skewer as they're drying and PUSH the excess air & foam up through the hole (I do this every 30 minutes), it stops it from expanding in the pans and the bottom stays nice and flat. Then you just pop the excess off the little hole & it'll be sticky so you use that to cover the hole when it's almost dry, usually after a few hours. And you can pop them right out of the aluminum and you can actually reuse them, I do anyway at least until they get to misshapen, lol. Hope this helps.

    • @Em22-wtf
      @Em22-wtf Před 11 měsíci +1

      Oh, and wood stain makes it look far more real than paint 😁
      Don't worry about the stain smell, you can grunge it up and smell is gone. I learned all these things from old old prim blogs no longer even around anymore or the ones that are have taken their tutorials down or poster them for sale on etsy. And by trial and error after I noticed a lot of the blogs were gone 😭 Lol, I got into primitive style over 14 yrs ago and couldn't afford to buy the stuff as it's really expensive, even back then. I've made primitive fake food for almost that long so I've tried it all, lol!

    • @Em22-wtf
      @Em22-wtf Před 11 měsíci +1

      Oh, and corn cob bedding is better to use for nuts if you don't want to use real food. I don't use real, it's just too much work and not guaranteed. My BFF is the prim expert, lol, it's who got me into it and she's bought stuff with real food on it and it was sealed... It all got bugs. 😳

    • @Em22-wtf
      @Em22-wtf Před 11 měsíci +1

      At around 9:25 the second bread you pick up has that squiggly strip of foam coming out the side and you said it did really well.... When you poke it w a hole, that squiggly stuff seeping out is what you're doing, but you're forcing it out. There was probably a little space there for the foam and air to escape and that's why it wasn't as blown out as the other one that's all expanded with air. If you poke a hole (just one) and keep opening it during the curing process and keep pushing the excess up and out, they'll be perfectly flat on the bottom and sides. 😁

    I’m a new subscriber. Your breads turned out awesome. I’ve made breads but they were mini loafs. I used the glass loaf dish from the dollar tree fall ones. I put fake nuts using hamster gravel. I just made a faux bunt cake and was using caulk for the drizzle. I usually make it with mid podge, caulk and white paint. I taught using just caulk would be better , I still made a mess 😏😏. What is the slick you used for your drizzle and where did you get it? That turned out beautiful and didn’t look as hard to get out as the caulk was.

    • @TheCuratedHome
      @TheCuratedHome  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Hi there!! I use white puff paint for all my drizzles, you’re right it is way easier than caulk! Whenever you want a drizzled affect just go with the puff paint, the light brown is a perfect chocolate color and you can use red and green for iced Christmas cookies….so many options! I get my puff paint from Hobby Lobby in the T-shirt section of the store. You’ll have to let me know how your next project goes!! 🥰♥️

      @@TheCuratedHomeyou can even paint it, for different colors. I make all kinds of fake food so I'll paint them brown for the chocolate crunch look, or pink for strawberry crunch. I learned about corn cob bedding YEARS ago for fake candy apples that are very popular now. I just wish all these video tutorials were around when I started primitive decorating over 14 yrs ago! Lol, the stuff was far too expensive to buy in the prim shops that were around at that time.

    • @TheCuratedHome
      @TheCuratedHome  Před rokem

      Hi there! I used modge podge for some which is what I preferred, the Krylon crystal clear sealer is also what I use that works well, I just don’t like the smell or the lack of control, you need to be careful it doesn’t blow your embellishment off. Can’t wait to see how yours turns out!!!

    You probably won't see this since the video is 6 months old, but I have been watching several faux bread recipes lately to go with my fall decor and I like your recipe the best out of all that I've seen. I have a question. The faux drizzle that you used, was that white paint? I just found your channel while searching for faux bread and I'm so glad I did.
