1. Old hoses on new washer voids the warranty. 2. Don’t over tighten the hoses. Rubber gasket in the hose can kink. And also because of the gasket and it’s metal to plastic, teflon tape is really a waste. 3. Hook up the hose turn on the water before pushing it back. If there is a leak you have pull it out again. 4. Use zip tie on the drain hose it looks better than tape. 5. Finally, run a cycle to test the drain. If your drain is clogged the drain water will pour back out.
Hi, please if someone can help me out here, I'll appreciate it very much.....when I place the drainage hose for the waste water in the hole, the water comes right back out once I began the cycle....why is it doing this?
@@florcorazon1397 you might have to run a snake down the outlet . Sometimes mine freezes in the winter and the water comes flying out. I'm just one person pushing 60 who now has a backache. It sure is satisfying when you don't need to go find a man to do anything. But it's more satisfying if you have one around who knows how. I didn't. God bless
Thanks for helping others with your video. Just some constructive criticism so don't take it the wrong way. I notice that you use some plumber's tape. It is actually unnecessary and even not recommended as the hose only seals the inside face of the hose. The non-movable part of the hose gets sealed by the rubber insert so the plumber's tape only just make it harder to install. The tape only works for fittings where the actual threads are what does the sealing like threaded pipes. It is also not recommended to tighten the fitting that much as the machine uses plastic. If the plumber's tape wasn't used, it would almost be leak free by hand tightening and about 1/4 to 1/2 a turn with a tool. Not over-tightening will insure that the rubber seal lasts when removing the hose and will insure that the plastic threads on the machine remains intact.
This is the 4th video I watched that got to a drain hose that just slides into a drain hole -- you tape it to the cold water hose to stabilize it. I knew it couldn't just be left un-anchored, but wasn't sure what to do. Thanks!
very nice video. I just installed my washing machine thanks to your supportive tutorial.. All washers are a little different, but basically the same, but you're right I didn't need to switch hoses, and the shut-off valves are right there at the site. All of my bathrooms and water sources have shut off valves . Thank you again from an almost senior female.
I bought a WFT810SPT LG top loading washing machine. The installation seems to indicate that the drain hose must run horizontal on the floor into a floor level drain. Is this correct ? All instructions I see elsewhere seem to indicate a higher level drain. ?
I feel like that washing machnine on song should now be your channel intro and the off sound your video outro. Anyway thanks for the useful video. WHat im looking for though is if theres any kind of adapter for a hot and cold water outlet to a single input. My portable machine only has 1 input so im trying to find out if i can hook it up to a standard hot and cold dual output like what you have here. Im also not sure yet if my machines hose will fit into or over rather, either one of the openings of the faucets. More importantly since you can answer this one: what is the name of that tool? i cant really hear it. A vice grip?
Thank you for this Washer 101 For Dummies. I got a fake house with a fake washer (I'm building a house with an app I like to use for fun) and this is helpful deciding where to position the washer in the laundry room.
The waste water hose came attached to the washing machine. At 4:35, I just inserted the other end of the waste water hose into the drain. I used tape to secure it into position. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.
so the connection is actually a garden hose connection which means that the seal is not made via the threads but rather the face gasket so putting teflon tape over the threads is useless.
How do I do this at 63 yrs old? I can’t scoot to washer back enough to get the drainage hose in and then get back over to the other side of the washer.
I have a drain hose hole that has been covered because there was not any washer in my apartment for several years. I cannot figure out how to get the cover off. Does anyone know what this is called or how to deal with it?
There could be a reason why the drain was covered and difficult to remove. Maybe the drain no longer works. If your building has a super, ask them about it first.
I’m am not sure of the scenario. It sounds like when you turn in the water it comes out of the black hose. If that is cold water, then it goes to the cold inlet of the washer.
JESUS CHRIST IS COMING SOON! We are all sinners . We've all fallen short of His glory. The wages of sin is death (hell) and that's what we all deserve. God is just, and because of that, He must punish evil. Jesus came and took our punishment and died (but rose again 3 days later) for our sins. All we have to do is repent and trust in Jesus Christ and we will have eternal life in heaven . Time is ticking, but it hasn't ran out ❤️
That seemed easy enough! Unfortunately, I had to replace one of my valves by myself with a makeshift one and those things are almost impossible to remove! I didn’t have to vice grip the hot and cold water or tape the hose down but that’s actually a pretty good idea.
Thank you for this helpful video. Just some constructive criticism: when you put the hose in the drain pipe you want to use a zip tie to anchor it to either your hot or cold intake pipes. The water that comes out of the clothes washer will come out at such a force that it will pop that drain hose and you will have water all over your floor in seconds! Ask me how I know… Also, this is the new home guidelines to anchor the drain hose. Also, if you have an older house that was built during the 80s-90s when they decided it was a good idea to put the washer and dryer on the second level with the bedrooms, I highly recommend a drip pan. This can save your floors! Thanks again for the great video.
If you're already an expert why even come to this video smh it's so annoying like nothing else better than to come and throw a wet blanket on someone else get a life
So to confirm - the entire installation process can be summed up into plugging it in, attaching three hoses, and setting it against the wall correctly? Home Depot is trying to charge $195 plus tax to do exactly that. Am I missing something? It looks easy.
With the amount you are saving, I would suggest buying a new stainless steel water hose pair. I used rubber hose in the video because I was cheap. I should have used stainless steel.
I recommend before hooking up the hot and cold hose line is to clear the lines first in a bucket of some sort. Don’t want earwigs and spiders all over your first wash lol
Did the LG washer last 11 years? Don’t think I even need to read the comments to know it didn’t. Samsung and LG need t stop making washers and refrigerators.

Thanks for the tips. I'm a lady living alone now, no man in the house so I'm going to attempt this on my own.
don't ya have to level the unit? or not?

Does it matter which end you plug the hose into the washer? The L on one end of the hose doesn’t fit into my wall

I'm not familiar with that model. All the ones I've had in the USA said to elevate the drain.

Hi. Lowes sells adapter for faucet to 3/4".
I used a vice grip in the video. You can use a vice grip or adjustable wrench.
Thank you very much for this info .
Nice job. I also wanted to see what you did with the waste water hose. Now I have to get a drip pan and I am set! Thx again.
That was very helpful, thank you.
Thank you. This video is 8 years old and your still helping those of us who are new at this.

Excellent
Thank you so much. This video was very helpful! Even 8 years later.
Thanks.
Damn it’s been Hellas I was 10 when he posted this
How do I do this at 63 yrs old? I can’t scoot to washer back enough to get the drainage hose in and then get back over to the other side of the washer.
Instructions on hose says never use plumbers tape on the connections
I can do this. how hard can it be??
Thank you very much! Easy installation and took little to no work.
Thank you! I love how simple you’ve made it seem! Definitely can do this on my own
Cool
Very detailed and very insightful thank you sir I've learned a lot😮
Glad it was helpful
Thank you very much, really simple and direct information.
Thanks
Good helpful video. Thank you.

Ohhhh its so great to have your own washer and dryer home!!!
The placement of the electrical outlet below the water line hookups is scary.
Dckommentatur S Yea, you make a good point. I put a water alert sensor in that laundry closet and it's also got a floor drain.
Do you have to turn off the main water in the house before installing?
For mine the shutoff valve is next to the washer. If you can't find the shutoff to the water then turn off the main water.
Thank you so much for this!

I have a black blue and red hose the black goes on when I turn the re water supply on what do I do with the black hose please
I’m am not sure of the scenario. It sounds like when you turn in the water it comes out of the black hose. If that is cold water, then it goes to the cold inlet of the washer.
Is there amount of time that water should be on after installation before use?
No.

This is a good video! 🙂
AWESOME
that looks simplle, turn off water source should be the first step
good point
How do i do that exactly? I’m 9 months preggo about to attempt this
Oh i see towards the end of the video

Almost done but drain is automatic or runs with machine pressure drain.
Drain from the washer is a part of the washer’s spin cycle.
Thanks. Even I already knew it I still watched this video to make sure.
Thank you

you dont need ptfe tape on plastic to metal threads
Do not use vice grips
Thanks for helping with my frustration...
Happy to help
So im here bc that last grey hose he said was the expeller mine was out and was wondering why there a actual lake downstairs
Like 7 foot in length of water
Will those hoses connect to a Spicket?
If the spigot has 3/4” connector then it works.
AwkwardHamster thanks for the reply but not sure if it’s 3/4 it seems standard is standard 3/4
You can lost zip tie the drain hose to washer hose so don’t jump out. No plumbers on back side washer needed .
Can you do one about driers
I will when I get the chance. I haven’t had a need to replace the dryer.
what should I do when the wster leaks?
water *
Check the hose. Braided cables are better but cost more. The rubber hoses like what I used cost less but aren't as durable.

Could i run the washer without the hot water?
Yes, find a cap to close off the hot water inlet.

That type of softener is a fabric softener. So you must always call that fabric softener. Washing machines aren't softeners.
Is this gas or electric washer?
Electric washer. I have not seen a gas wash before.

Should u turn the water off?
Yes
If your have a shut off valve dedicated to the washer shut that off. If not, then shut off to the whole house.
That's easy I thought it was going to be harder than that.

I moved a couple of years ago. It worked until then.
WTF ???? You are supposed to change the hoses every 3 to 5 years !! Never , never keep the old hoses when installing a new washing machine.
So where is the water goes???
The black hose hooks into a drain.
