Have you played Return to Dark Tower? What were your thoughts?
I can honestly say i love dark tower. I have owned many board games and this one is my favorite. Even when i cant get a group together i can play it by myself
I’m looking forward to getting to play it soon. It is one that I will rush to the table.
Nice overview video. I have everything from the first campaign and love it to death. Probably played it 35-40 times already. I've also playtested Covenant and enjoy it, though it won't be everyone's cup of tea. It makes the game harder to win; it can feel very punishing. I like my co-op games to feel like you're always on the edge of losing, but still have the ability to pull it out in the end. Most of my tests of Covenant were like that. Tons more variety and more happening on the game board.
Awesome to hear! I am the same way. I like the overcome-able challenge.
Excellent video my friend, I remember getting Dark Tower for Christmas, my brother and friends played it all day, it was what got us into D&D, I still have my original game.😊 Great video Critical, I have everything from the first campaign and I am getting the new deluxe expansion, such an awesome game.
Awesome! How did you like the different scenarios?
I love the game, they are awesome.
I backed all-in during the 1st KS. Mostly solo player. For some reason the new expansion does not perk my interest. Unsure if I am going to back. I am sort of thinking about selling off.
Was it not enough as a solo player? Was kind of thinking this game would be even better for solo with the tower automation.
Yea I'm interested, did the novelty wear off or just not seeing enough play time perhaps?
I am sure experiences will vary. I have about 8 solo plays in since December. Had a lot of nostalgia from original game. Game is good, but has gotten a little formulaic for me. Really on the fence, but need to make room for some new games. Components are top notch and really like the playmat. Now I am starting talking my self into keeping longer… In general I can’t stand app dependent board games. I should like them, as a solo player, but then feels like a video game. Return to DT is the only App driven game I still have. 100% like apps to assist and simplify board game book keeping! Oathsworn’s and Scribe are awesome.
Good to hear about Oathsworn. I think everyone's opinion varies widely on apps. Personally I don't mind them, but I still like tactile components and I don't want heads buried in the app constantly. I do love not having to read narration constantly though.
I’m feeling like shi** for missing this campaign 😢 I have only the base game
Keep an eye out. There should be extras of most everything, but I don’t know how they plan to sell them yet. I know I saw Return at several game stores around here too when they shipped the first release.
I find the value of just the expansion to be put to lunch. It's 8 minis and some cards. Why is it $55 with $30 shipping? By the time I do conversion it's costing me over a hundred dollars.
Ouch that is quite steep. I hadn't factored shipping on the expansions alone. I wish there was a better explanation of how much playtime/content the expansions really add. There could be value there they aren't advertising well.
@@criticalfail well they have no real stretch goals, more like reveals, I have the new content, with sleeves for the new cards and some plastic token upgrades, basically everything new and it's $75 USD plus shipping. Shipping is an estimate, maybe it's not that high, but it's close to a ticket to ride size box, maybe a bit smaller. Since I got the base game with the tower for $125 USD and then went all in and got everything I was really hoping that this would be a much less expensive "top up" with the new expansion.
Totally understand.
