    The Maxxforce 7 engine will always be so nostalgic to me. It's like my childhood.

    Such a nostalgic sound from my days in elementary and middle school. All the IC CE's with that engine in my district are now retired :(

      The 6.4 is plagued with soooo many problems....emissions the
      Biggest part of that.

      @@frostydoesit I think he’s trying to say he likes the sounds it makes and doesn’t understand that it’s literally one of the worst diesels ever made 😂

    The 6.4’s were not a horrible design as far as the hard parts were concerned…it was all the add-ons that made them ticking time bombs…Ford’s add-on’s were worse than International’s but they were still crappy nonetheless…they were capable of producing ridiculous hp and torque and their bottom ends were super strong!…if fully deleted and coupled with a respectable tune they would hold together quite well…also, the factory oil change intervals were wayyyyy off!!!..it was a finicky engine that needed good oil and oil changes every 5000 miles in order to get reasonable reliability out of them…these guys putting Rotella T6 in them thinking they could extend their services to 15-20,000 miles got very rude awakenings not far down the road…you would be better off putting Walmart oil in every 5000 than putting T6 every 10,000…the engines ran dirty and had fuel dilution issues along with heavy sooting problems so the oil had a great deal of contamination by the time 10000 rolled around and if some other catastrophic issue didn’t happen by that time, the upper valve train would frigg off on them…also they were not a NAPA filter friendly engine!!!..none of the powerstroke or navistar engines liked aftermarket filters!!..factory filters or nothing at all!!…orrr you could just go out and buy something with a 5.9, 6.7, or 6.6 in it and beat them like your red headed stepchild and never have an issue!…but I digress..🤷🏻‍♂️

      I have been very impressed with the 6.4s that were deleted, like you said, they are ridiculous!!!! I've had several that I bought from auction that did not get deleted in time )=

    • @FordFan01
      @FordFan01 Před rokem

      You can delete them, but then theres still issues baked into the design. Most common issues we see is high pressure fuel pump failure (which means 8 new injectors yay!!), front cover cavitation, we cant rebuild the connecting rods because theres no bushing in the small end like almost every other motor, bent cranks. Theres quite a few deleted trucks that roll into the shop we still have to put a motor in even on a stock level tune that just deletes the regen.

    Need some advice here. A local junk yard of mine is selling a 2010 IC CE with the Maxxforce 7 6.4l V8 (just like yours)... Has 75k miles and they are asking only 2,800 dollars. BUT, has been sitting for 2 years (periodically moved around). No problems with it they said. Is it worth a buy or would I be making risk?

    • @frostydoesit
      @frostydoesit  Před rokem +2

      sitting wouldn't bother me, but the maxxforce 7 is a ticking time bomb. I'd buy the bus take the engine out and sell it to someone that needs it. A running engine alone is worth triple or quadruple their asking price.
