    My concern is slow wheelies... that pumper in it ruins BP wheelies. Ive heard all my friends say the FCR is ass when it comes to stunting. Its a better fit for people with that want speed. My buddy has a FCR and my other buddy has a DRZE and they both dump gas when at BP. Just my observations and their input!

      A proper built FCR MX version 3 is the best carb there is for this motorcycle check out @wheelieplug he's running our carb version 2 and still 12 o-clock wheelies for miles in Florida. Remember there are many types and adjustments that can be made on this carb design and a lot of sellers are not aware of all the FCR MX capabilities or setup for this specific engine.

    I'm curious why you chose the 41mm over the 39mm. from what I've read, without the added displacement from a bb+ stroke kit, it runs too rich. you planning to do those mods later?

    • @dirtbikeplug
      @dirtbikeplug  Před 7 lety +4

      Well i could argue carb size all day with peeps on forums, though this is why i made this video. Also food for thought to all the online keyboard racers, a crf250r comes with a 40mm and 185 main jet and a ktm 250 sxf came with 39mm with a 178 main.
      So if ya run the grandpa 3x3 mod yeah keep ur stock carb on then. If ya want raw power on a 400cc DOHC Engine open the air flow up and push more out. Anybody that doubts this come by Socal with a 440 kit and lets race! :)

    For riding around town wheelies all day I get the 41mm is the way to go, this thing shreds... but always do highways and atleast once a day for about 30 mins to a hour going around 50,60,70... would I be better off with the 39mm for that I read comments saying it keeps the revs high and didn't know if I should shoot for the 39mm vs 41mm , if I got the 41 how would it perform at higher speeds on a highway? Thanks for the vids this thing is nasty and I dig the sound , I got the dg v2 and mines alot deeper but LOUD sound this one sounds closer to a dirt bike / 2 stroke then mine

      @dirtbikeplug  Před 6 lety +1

      Hello, the 41mm is the best for how I ride. If all around power is more important then the 39mm we sell is best and also the most popular carb we offer and because its the trendy one. Personally, if a ridder understands the power curve the 41 is the way to go. Note-Current bikes are running 42-46mm throttle bodies on 250f and 450r dirt bikes.

    FCR39mx? Or FCR41mx? If i go with the fcr41mx, am i going to experience low rpm bogs? Is the fcr41mx a waste if the valves and cams and head are stock? What jetting will the frc41mx need with the setup i described? Will it start and run well in weather from -20ºF to 110ºF ? I don't want a fair weather setup. With an fcr41mx, is it going to wind up running too lean?

We have 3 sizes available i would recommend the 40mm for ur situation. I can jet it and set it for ur exact setup. Please note for what your asking is around 1100 us dollars. The best cost money just like the best motor components. call if this isnt too costly for ya. TPS, AP Linkage and the proper boots are needed for this job to be a turn key product. thanks for the quick response, I have a 2013 drz400 sm so its a newer model. I have a 3x3 airbox mod, k&N air filter, FMF jet kit and full aftermarket FMF exaust set up. 15/39 gears- the bike can climb in second gear but even in first gear I can barely pull wheelies too tall gears, top speed seems 102mph, I need more low end and would need your recommendations before I purchase to know what to order for a wheel machine like yours with decent milage if that is possible.

    • @dirtbikeplug
      @dirtbikeplug  Před 6 lety

      Just like a turbo car is more efficient, Slide Style carbs use less gas to get it to traveling speed and uses less throttle opening also helpls the this version of the fcrmx is 15 years newer technology. Though at the end of the day if you drive above 3000 RPMs or 60mph the carburetor jetting and size isn't the issue.

    FCR and FCR-MX - which works better and why?
    Lots of review were saying 39mm but after watching your video, why not a 41mm? This really make me wonder which to get. Check your website and you have both but not MX.

      Good evening we have been installing drz400 carburetors for over ten years.... the only carb we actually sell is the FCR-MX. personally would recommend the new 41mm for any DRZ400 model. Yes the 39mm is more popular for its broad range of power, yet the 41mm has that high top end hit like most supercross dirtbikes do. The New Keihin FCR that we install on this bike is like no other used FCR or FCRMX I've ever ridden. Even on bikes as slow as the XR650L and DR650 the change in performance was exceptional. Please feel free to reach out for more questions via phone.

      People will recommend you many kinds of tires, and most will even tell you to buy either a size 150 or 160 rear tire for better grip, and for more choices for those sizes. I have front 120 Michelin Pilot Road 4, and a rear 150 Michelin Pilot Road 4 Trail. They are rain tires, but are nevertheless much better than stock tires.

Reason behind it is there's a 16' dr400sm with 600 miles for $5k so was going to pick her up as well put carb on already has pipe. Is that a good deal? Would you say it would be good to have both ktm An the dr? My friend has dr400 stock and it kept up with my new stock klr650 but was beast off-road compared. • @dirtbikeplug
      @dirtbikeplug  Před 7 lety

      Badass5speed our buddy's have the 690 and 701 supermotos- way better bike for highways tho the drz feels lighter and has more quick power for popping the front end up around the surface streets

    • @Badass5speed
      @Badass5speed Před 7 lety

      Ktm lifts it with just power first 4 gears but it's tall and wouldn't dare rip trails with her. Drz tho is light an I see you can get mud tires for the smc wheels? How much is this carb swap? Who sells it? So worth getting both one for trails an one for longer rides?

    • @AventuSD
      @AventuSD Před 6 lety

      You can't compare even a tricked out drz400 bigbore with a ktm690. The ktm has basically twice the power although it's going to need much more maintenance compare to the drz. If you ride on the highway alot get a KTM690 or husky 701.

    • @AventuSD
      @AventuSD Před 6 lety

      funserious I get what you are saying and yes the oil change interval on a KTM is longer than a Drz but that's about where it ends and you can say KTMs need less maintenance than Drzs. The KTM is better overall in power, braking, handling, suspension and possibly even more fun. But there is not a single person who knows bikes that would ever say a KTM 690 will require less maintenance or be more reliable than a Drz. It's simply not true. Drzs are bulletproof and such a simplistic design they take a beating and keep going. Now once you start changing out engine internals, or go big bore kit yes you will sacrifice reliability but it would still probably be similar to a KTM. Drz are cheap, reliable great bikes. KTM 690s are expensive, maintenance demmanding, high performance top of the line race bikes.

      So the 41mm actually helps the bike rev higher, with a 39mm that would actually be better with hotcams and bore since the bike will have a harder time hitting the higher RPM with a larger cylinder. We do offer a 39mm as well either way its a major improvement. Best to keep stock and just do a carb and pipe. Anything more is risking reliability and mise well buy some thing like a 501 or ktm 500 -only problem with those dirtbikes are they last a 1/4 of the time :(

    Just picked up this 16' drz400sm with mrd pipe an jet. Weak bike no power compared to ktm but all you do is bolt on this $1000 carb an it has the power in your video? No power wheelies out of this bike. As Is

      Thats right! You need the 41 mm Fcr that we sell. All options are on our site. Give me a call once you order so we can set the jetting on point for 70mph wheelies. this kit is no joke. check out some of our older videos- this new kit even has more power than 8 years back.

    Cross the double yellow line much? Everyone gets away with it until they don't.

      Great advice for peeps thanks! This is actually a 50 mile stretch by our shop and has only locals that go on it after riding this road for 4 years u learn where its safe and where its not. Just like on a track there is safe places to pass and sketch. "If ya aint using the whole track ya gonna loose" ;)

      hey thats a great point to always wear all of ur gear, tho when ur riding at 60% of ur ability then this gear set is adequate for me personally. If your not taking risks then your not living at our full potential. Also if ur worried about falling then maybe you shouldn't be riding a bike anymore. Fear is the worst enemy on high-risk sports.
