IF Falls Short as Kingdom of Apes Holds Strong

- Though the Saturday/Sunday numbers for the new #johnkrasinski film #ifmovie look better then the opening, the film still came in under initial projections with a sizeable +$100 million budget...also the 2nd weekend numbers for #kingdomoftheplanetoftheapes might look good on paper, but when taking into account the domestic and international splits for studios vs theaters, the film will very likely not be able to make its money back #boxoffice #boxofficebreakdown

Thoughts?
I thought the movie was pronounced EYE EFF, since they are the initials for Imaginary Friend.
no film for this year had broke 100M Dom on 3 day weekend which its pretty sad.
If probably would have done better if they had put the Sonic 3 trailer in front of it. I’m serious, Sonic fans are clinically insane
Always good to have your weekly "sum-up" of what is going on in the movies. Keep it up!
Sad to see Fall Guy not doing as well as it is. I loved it. No politics or anything like that. Just a good time. A little action. A little comedy. A little love story. Just overall a good time, which is what I'm after at the theater.
Hello Mr. Odin. Happy Pentecost. Good times. 👍😊
Garfield will destroy both IF and Robot Dreams' chances at box-office successes as it did well overseas.
I didn't really expect “IF" to be this super emotional for me, I had lots of tears through out the entire movie, I haven't watch a movie in tears for so many years, the mix of live action, cgi and 3d animation is fun and music score is so beautiful masterpiece far beyond than I expected to be, I give this movie a 15 out of 10 cinema. 😭😭😭🎶🎶🎶🎥
Yeah the box office isn't doing really good and I have a feeling Furiosa will be another movie that underperforms its current projections.
As for Kingdom of the Apes, I honestly doubt it will be able to get to 400 milion.
It's So Damn Boring.
I actually liked planet of the apes. 🤷♂️ My friends did too. I didn’t think the girl was a Mary sue, because a lot of the characters definitely hated her, good and bad alike. I also kind of dig the slower pace of the movie. I’m kind of burnt out on crazy action for a while. Maybe I’m in the minority here. Curious to hear what people think.
Top movie did 34 million on their opening weekend 😂😂😂
Who the Hell wants to pay money to see Woke Trash at the Theater?
Omb we miss you on fnt. You ok bro? Godspeed brother! 😎👍
Yep! Feeling much better!
@@OMBReviews praise the Lord! Good to hear! 😎👍
Please go see Planet of the Apes! It's really well made, the score is beautiful and the movie is so well crafted. The story feels classic and unhampered by modern narratives. It deserves success
No It doesn't.
It's Bland and Boring and It's Dominated by a Brave and Stunning Girl Boss Protagonist Who Outdoes Every Emasculated Male in the Movie.
It's FOX WE must boycott!
Other than Deadpool, there is nothing in 2024 I really want to see, and I will not be going to see it opening week, want to hear what you guys have to say before I even bother.
Top 5 Highest Grossing Movies of 2024 (so far)
1. Dune Part Two - $710M
2. Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire - $561M
3. Kung Fu Panda 4 - $533M
4. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes - $237M
5. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire - $198M
If I recall correctly, IF is the second biggest opening weekend for a non-IP movie post-covid only behind Nope. This opening would be strong if its budget didn’t put profitability in question. It could be saved by the good word of mouth it seems to be having, though I am curious if Garfield will immediately put a dent in its legs next weekend.
eh I hate those kind of "records"
@@OMBReviews It's somewhat notable to me because I want to see more original properties doing well and they've been doing horrible since the pandemic. However, I agree that a lot of these media outlets use absurd "records" to prop up the perception of a film's performance.
This weekend I went and saw IF, Back to Black and also got to catch a special screening of the first 4 episode of the original Transformers TV series on the big screen for the 40th anniversary. Back to Black I thought was okay. I really liked the performances but the pacing of the film was off and the script wasn't that great. The documentary on Amy Winehouse's life awhile back is much better. I loved IF. I thought it was fun and entertaining. Had some really great performances and the story kept me in it throughout. Definitely worth seeing in the theater.
Then the special screening of the Transformers episodes was really cool. They had a table read with several of the original voice actors as well as some stand in for the ones who had passed away and rerecorded the first episode then showed the next three. It was a good turnout at the theater I was at and I love these type of events
I describe "IF" as a movie the old Pixar would've made. I guarantee if it were animated and had the Pixar name without the disney baggage that the box office would have been 1bil+.
If is a rip off of Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends
It' s so interesting to see the differences between cultures. For example Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is a flop in the Netherlands (made less than half of Napoleon) But Americans love it. Dune is a huge hit overhere (will be top dog this year) but Americans didn't care for it. Maybe we should re-conquer New Amsterdam an re-start civilization :)
Dune is doing very well over here. Better than Godzilla and Dune 1. Definitely will be within the top 10 this year.
I can't believe I'm defending Awquafina in Little Mermaid but I'm assuming her squacky performance is what they wanted, unless she wrote that song. That song made my ears bleed.
It’s a wonderful year for the Apes! But on a serious note if the budget for KotPotA was like $200-$250 million with the marketing costs, it definitely wouldn’t be successful in making money back. But since the budget is lower there is still a chance it can make some profit by the time the movie is out of theaters.
So you loved The Strangers? That's about crazy people killing other people for nothing and they are never punished, right? You surely have strange tastes in movies.
Liked. Doesn’t mean I endorse it dude lol
Planet of the apes the Caesar trilogy awesome movies Kingdom of the Planet of the apes I want to fail miserably I've had it with Disney and ruining all their films with overbearing rude Wamen.
She tried to Drown All of The Apes at the End of the Movie.
Both Friend and Foe Alike.
@@tigermask3831 yeah, well they're seen as the enemy aren't they?
Brave and Stunning Girl Boss in this Movie was Completely Treacherous and Unlikable and a Would-Be Mass Murderess.
@@tigermask3831 Standing up for her race against savage monkeys. Fair enough, I guess that isn't to be applauded.
