  • Things to gather:
    - Epoxy resin: amzn.to/43zWQqU
    - Glass mixing jug: amzn.to/3qqBjCY
    - Isopropyl alcohol for clean up: amzn.to/3MMEPil
    - Hot glue gun: amzn.to/3N7dhp8
    - Old rugs for clean up
    - Stick for stirring solution once mixed
    - Warm water
    - Newspaper to keep working surface clean.
    - Artificial flowers/foliage
    - Glass vase to suit
I knew if I hunted long enough, I would find a product that gave the illusion of water in a vase to create that ‘real look’ when designing with silk or artificial flowers and foliage. Today I've got a great idea for how to make fake water for silk flower arrangements!
You can buy Quick Water or Crystal Water but it isn’t always available. I found a 2-part mix called deep pour resin and it works a treat.
    TIPS:
    1. If you need to cut stems of artificial’s, place a spot of hot glue on the stem ends to seal. This will stop rust leaching into the resin.
    2. Warm the mixing jug and glass vase before starting. This stopped any bubbles in the resin.

OMG! You're fabulous! Any ideas on cleaning the acrylic water in an older arrangement? I have some hydrangeas in a vase, and the acrylic water has gotten discolored on the top. I'd love to salvage the arrangement.

Hello Astar! I am so happy that your website popped up when I was doing a search for how to make artificial water. I've been doing crafts for many years and made many things with floral arrangements. However, like you, I want the arrangement to look real and having the stems in an empty glass vase really bugs me. It needs the resin to hold it in place and also put a little weight in it, like real water would. I just want to thank you for making this video. I really appreciate it. You're a lovely lady, and your demonstration was perfect! Also, if you don't mind me asking, what color of paint is on the wall behind you in this video? I've been looking for something like that, but can't seem to find it.

      Hello Angela,
To warm the vase is super easy. I just filled vase with hot tap water and also placed the vase in a sink of hot water. As soon as you have mixed everything, quickly dry off the exterior and interior of the vase THOROUGHLY, then gently pour in mixed fake water. Insert flowers and walk away and Leave to set. Hope this helps, warm regards Astar

There are several products on the market. 1. Resin water or crystal clear. 2. 2-part epoxy resin. 3. Crystal water or Quick water. Check out Amazon for suppliers. I was unable to find the Crystal Water, so I opted for best substitute and might I add cheaper option - 2-part epoxy resin. Hope this helps, Astar

    • @AstarsPlace
      @AstarsPlace  Před 3 měsíci +1

Hi there, sorry to have taken this long in responding, but I had to put my memory cap on.
The recipe for the floral mist is -
30mls of rose water or just water will do &
3mls of any fragrant blended floral oils. Mixed well and then add to a spray mister bottle.
Give it a good shake to blend again, before misting artificial blooms.
      Warm regards Astar

Now I will ask you a favor, if it's possible to you: I've bought some artificail flowers in vases like that, and now I would like to remove them from his "gel". How can we do that?. I mean...I want to use the vase, but with new flowers!....so, how to remove this fake water?
Thank you very much in advance!
