  • In previous videos I converted this Honda ATV with a dead engine into a battery powered rocket ship, using old recycled hub motors and controllers.
One of the hub motors stopped working due to a damaged hall sensor, then a controller failed.
In this episode, I installed new Fardriver controllers and got it running at its full potential and tested on the Abandoned Highway..

    Part 2 - • Electric ATV Conversio...
Thanks Bigbattery.com for supplying the 72v falcon batteries used for this project, check out their range of batteries here- bigbattery.com/products/48v-2...

My goodness this is such a cool project, and with your hydro power you have created a 100% “free” form of transportation.
Minus the cost of equipment of course.
I’m astounded by your ingenuity and envious of your skill with electrical engineering.

    awesome project.
quick note about the battery level lcd display. it works its percentage off of the battery voltage linearly between its max and min voltages.
this doesnt always match upto how the batteries voltage represents its remaining charge/ah.
you will usaually find with lithiums it will drop the first 20-30% of charge a lot quicker than the second 20-30% of the same charge as the bulk of a lithiums actual AH capacity lies within the middle range of its discharge.
i.e. if you get about 20km out of the first 40% of charge(60% left), taking it down to 20% left will get you about another 30km.

It would be interesting to see if you could get useful generation with a Pelton wheel or similar. The hub motor, controller and battery are already set up, so it would just be the water handling and turbine that would be needed. Pelton wheels generally need quite a lot of head, which could be difficult with a portable setup.. maybe a Turgo turbine would be a better match. It would be a fun project anyway.
Merry Christmas to you and your family, and thanks for the entertainment, education and inspiration during 2023.
