Bums me out to see that guy towards the end of the video, texting and walking. He has all brand new clothes on including brand new Tims. I get it.. the impulse to look rich when you’re poor. I grew up valuing that too. It’s a dead end culture and it keeps poor people poor. When you’re that guy’s age, $200 worth of clothing could be a $180 car payment or a savings account deposit and a $20 trip to goodwill. But Goodwill will get you laughed at in a hood like this. Less than 5 mins in was basically my exact route when I had a drug problem and would walk thru there to meet my dealer. Not proud of it at all but I will say that as a hispanic kid that looks like and often gets confused for a white person, for the most part I was left alone and I would go from all times of day from really early in the morning to 10pm at night, but never later than that. Only common thing that would happen to me was constant homeless people and crackheads begging for money. The homeless/drug addict problem over there has gotten so much worse over the years. I am a lucky son of a Bitch I never got robbed or my ass kicked or arrested. So very lucky. Nothing bothered me more than the crackheads that would post up outside my bank or anyone else's bank. Legit thinking someone is gonna hand them money from an ATM that only dishes out 20s & 100s. I never understood that.
I enjoy it cause I'm home all the time I can't get around like I use to cause of my back problems but I certainly would not mind going state to state and paying my share of the gas etc,i ride my mobility scooters and Wheelchair around but it's not enough I raised my kids and helped raise my grandkids I helped the homeless in tent city New HAVEN CT AND ENDED IN THE NEWS PAPER BACK IN SEPT 2002 I JUST WISH I COULD GET AROUND TO SEE CITIES I NEVER BEEN TO BAD I DON'T HAVE A CAR I WOULD BE DOING THE SAME AGAIN I LOVE THESE VIDEOS AND GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS
Reminds me of the hoods here in So Cal, like parts of LA, the IE (*Inland Empire*- San Bernardino, Rialto, Fontana, etc) etc. Only our buildings look different. Houses on top of houses with bars on the windows and 100 broken down cars in the yards. Tweekers everywhere.
I lived here, gotta say it’s not that bad (I was 10 when I lived in Paterson for like 3 years) the only experience I had with any gangs was just a couple of friends talking to each other under our apartment’s balcony
Growing up i used to think i couldnt wait to get outta here. Watching this reminds me how proud i am to be from here. Its not for everyone but if you can make it here you can make it anywhere!!! Hey from California✋✋✋ ps Broadway pizza still the best pizza ever!!! Aint gonna find that in Wayne 😂😂😂
This could be a historic district with all of those huge older homes....too bad it's gotten to this sad state.. hope it turns around into an up and coming community.
Girl, you need to get on that New Jersey Transit train and head out to Summit for a day, walk around, eat some food, get some air. Trust me, it is diverse out in the suburbs as well white, Chinese, Indian, Black we have some of everyone out here, it's peaceful and quiet, come check it out. Montclair, Westfield as well, you can take the train there too from Broad St or Penn. You can also take the train down the shore to Asbury Park, it is super diverse down there and fun, you would have a great time, no car needed!
Give Plainfield a try. Or try Piscataway - it's the next town to the West of Plainfield. Have you ever heard of New Brunswick? They have a lot of stuff because they have a campus of Rutgers University; If you take the train the Rutgers Bookstore is one Street over. I'm telling you, New Jersey has a lot to offer.

It's sad to see that people dont care about where they live but I do care and no matter where you go there is a "Paterson " somewhere. Again I will never put down where I live you just have to want to do better.
Good for you, you are a classy person who was raised well. All the best. We are not where we are from, where are who we become...
What's good Sharonda
WELL SAID AND CONGRATS SHRONDA FROM A DETROIT NATIVE.
I WAS IN THE VID!!!🤣🤣 2:40 I was outside the store but i know every street you drove down, my family lived on a lot of those streets
Dam bro u right by my mothers house she by down the hill on east main and Amity we live right by section 8 towers but hey Paterson ain’t that bad there’s opportunity to leave u just gotta apply ya self and tbh these hoods ain’t that bad once u live in them cuz u get used to them but I moved out tho recently I live in Cali now but God Bless to all who still wanna make it out the hood there’s a chance 🙏❤️✅💯
RandyDicknose Nutsack “ and to be honest once you taste shit for the first time it’s not so bad after u keep eating it “ you may as well have just said that instead smh getting accustomed or use to something doesn’t make it ok or cool
10 ave Little Jamaica
The streets are so dirty :c
Thanks for the commentary
Bums me out to see that guy towards the end of the video, texting and walking. He has all brand new clothes on including brand new Tims. I get it.. the impulse to look rich when you’re poor. I grew up valuing that too. It’s a dead end culture and it keeps poor people poor. When you’re that guy’s age, $200 worth of clothing could be a $180 car payment or a savings account deposit and a $20 trip to goodwill. But Goodwill will get you laughed at in a hood like this. Shame.
Clarion Fake it until you make it. 🤫
@@justinthomaskraus Fake it till you've squandered the best years of your life wasting money looking rich while guaranteeing poverty for yourself later.
Clarion I don't consider Paterson the hood. Lived there when I was in college.
B Olekna you must have either lived close to Totowa or by Eastside Park
@@973cal or went to college in the 80s
At 14:00 I started craving a cheesesteak from the Torpedo Base but you turned right. 🤣

Mayrza Gonzales me too that’s my home #patersonraised
omfg dude, i'm on the east coast of Canada and if i drive around and show you my city you wouldn't believe it isn't yours. the houses the streets everything looks identical.
01hondascott really??? In Canada?
Great video. Haven't been in Paterson (my home town) if your ever near 270 Madison Ave send a short video. My house growing up! Mad love for a cool video!
Some of those old homes are just beautiful.
Guamby Guambelle rightttt
The streets and houses are dirty, but most of them seem to have nice clean cars. 🤔
If you want to see an offset check out Baltimore. Huge rats are running across the street in front of beamers and other really nice cars. Also the graffiti is pretty sick.
This is the jungle for real!!😢😢

You people aren't from nj I take it
Wow!! A trip down memory lane...Born & raised in Paterson's 4th Ward went to school #10 & J.F.K High School now living in NC. I love the South & would never move back! But.... Make no mistake I love my City ❤️ Growing up in Paterson builds character you learn as a kid not to take nobody shit🥊 You had to adapt to what's around! And I wouldn't
change that for the world 💯 #justakidfrompaterson
Well said I went to school 10 and now reside in NC! I will always love Paterson!
@@eyeguess88 No way! 😁 Hey Jermaine👋🏾 I will always love it too💓
April what’s your fb page!!! Maaaan
I currently live in Paterson and sadly it is filled with trash all around the city and there are very few amount of areas that are clean and sanitary for the public.
I used to live in Paterson in like 2004-2008 and it was not trash everywhere at all. Idk how it just turned out like this
Man! I had coworker that was from there and that’s all he would talk about growing up in Paterson, NJ. Ol Mac
Its cold out here too- this puts me into the happy, sleepy mode
I've been around in Paterson sometimes but trying to minding my damn business without no lames get at me... Smh
I can't wait to not live there.
😂😂😂😂
Lol🤗
I grew up there , went to school 5 and Passaic county tech. Work hard , stay away from so called friends ( if it feels wrong it usually is ) STUDY HARD and take route 80 west anywhere. Just get out
its actually not as bad as u think i live there and im still alive and nothing has happened to me, its literally just the people but if you DONT want to get jumped or whatever just dont fw those type of people i fw with those type of people and i lowkey love life and its really not that bad its just the image but u cant say nun unless u lived there PERIODD!!

Thanks for reminding me why I moved to Vermont.
Went to see a 1 bedroom for rent and just put it this way I was concerned about leaving my car parked as I went upstairs..so I Never viewed the place and wasted about 4 hours total plus tolls gas and energy 🤦
As a Jersey cat, I think you could just as well made the title Paterson New Jersey.
That was depressing.
i live here, the vid made it more depressing that it actually is lol. It aint that bad in the mornings and in the summer, just mind yr business and you'll be fine
I drove in there for the first time about two months ago. I couldn’t believe the amount of garbage on the streets.
This video for some reason makes me want to stop at the corner store and play a lottery number for the Daily Lotto
I was there many years ago.. Still looks the same... Rough stop.
Be ez bro 😎
Love ya brother
born and raised in paterson, my momma don't let me outside the house my area really bad.
Not one cop car!
My boy driving down Jefferson like he scared 😂
Ya you will get shot on Jeff go around the corner on n main you get few holes in you if you not careful they dont play down there you buy 100 in dope and they robb yòur shit and knock you out stab or shoot you what ever they got at the time they dont care
Right
you drive past my friends house 😂
At one point he passed the public library a very dangerous place to be at night . I was born and raised in Paterson glad I got out
What’s wild about Patterson is that the zoning doesn’t require buildings to be set back from the road
I know all those streets i use to live their now i live in a good place
All state the same some places nicest some bad.psterson is nice now.people nices too.
@@miguelmiranda8437 yea ik
Went to Patterson last year to visit my cousin it's Claim down a lot still rough around the edges for sure but it's somewhat more peaceful
8 people shot over the weekend lol
Why am I in the car with you driving around this place? Where are we going and how did I end up here 😂
Bangbros. Com
People that didn’t realize their worth yet, but when they wake up. Paterson would be close to NY
Ayeee Jersey in the house.. lived in Silk City for a few years .. now I’m down bottom here in Newark
What an epic upgrade
You should see some of the potholes where I live. Small cars fall into them, never to be seen again.
Don't worry. Democrats will save them!
eventually they’ll start caring... right?? Lol
Kinda like this neighborhood. Not the current state but the overall looks. Im sure it was nice some time ago.
It use to be for sure
Yeah back in the 50s when it was Italian Polish Irish ...but poverty and welfare came in the 60s and 70s
I was born in Paterson it used to be really nice.I remember Johnny and Hangies, best chili dogs in the country
They are still around, but they moved across the river to Fair lawn. Smart move.
i got screwed outta the really good places growing up there besides maybe the 2 pizza restaurants downtown.
This could be a historic district with all of those huge older homes....too bad it's gotten to this sad state.. hope it turns around into an up and coming community.
The winter time don't show the true texture to these neighborhoods
I've lived in New Jersey my entire life and have never been anywhere but Newark and Elizebeth lol...
You fine girl. 😍
Paterson’s not all that bad
You just need to find the right area like hillcrest or lakeview
Exactly!!
Exactly!!
Invincible Gaming there are million dollar homes .. I just don’t live in them lol
Invincible Gaming yup hillcrest is beautiful
I saw this in my reccomended and was like is this guy stalking me?
