  • If you are having problems with non-even brake pads wear on rear brakes then you should check those plastic guiding parts - if they are broken, handbrake cable does not move as it should and it could be the reason for the cable not to return to its right position when handbrake is off.
Plastic guide part number: 4719 11

Hi I've got exactly the same problem and I'm gonna change them. The black câble guide behind is also broken on my c5.
Next work after this is to replacé control Arm brushing. Thanks for your video.
    Congratulations from France!

    Hello,
Do you use the diagbox to release and to re-calibrate the handbreak cable?
When I changed the brakes pads I took the opportunity to change these plastics and used the diagbox and it was 5*

Hi. No, I did not use diagbox to calibrate the handbrake, because it is not necessary, otherwise it would be impossible to change brake pads or those plastic guides in a regular mechanic shop, which is not equipment with this ssecific tool. Car does the calibration by itself, it readjusts the tension all the time in order to compensate the brake pads wear. Calibration is done only when replacing all handrake unit.

Yes, and you can see diagbox says that calibration is only needed when whole parking brake unit or cables is replaced.

@@rustoil Thank you very much for this, the internet says you have to do this after a brake job and I was getting a little bit worried because I don't have the tool. Now I know I don't need the tool to recalibrate.
