Harry disarmed Draco at Malfoy Manor, but he didn't take the elder wand from him, but his wand. At that moment the elder wand was still in the hands of Dumbledore's corpse, in his grave. Therefore, it is impossible that the elder wand became Harry's property. There was a mistake there, or there was cheating by JK Rowling. That part is disappointing, since it shows that the writer does not take her work seriously.

Guys! About the patronus of Snape and Lily. In the books they explain to you that basically your patronus is the “manifestation” of your soul in the form of an animal. It can be anything, but if something emotionally deep happens to you, it's form can change. Originally Snape´s patronus was another animal (I think it was a bat), and when Lily died, his patronus took the form of hers (a doe). That's why Dumbledore after seeing the doe as his patronus (knowing that Lily´s was the same) asks him "after all this time?", as in you still have this patronus after all the time that has passed. And Snape answers “always” because he will always love Lily. ❤‍🩹

A mother's love saves Harry twice; first his own mother's love for him, then Narcissa's love for Draco. Had she not lied, Voldemort would have just killed him then and there.

    • @swetahazra6626
      @swetahazra6626 Před 7 měsíci +15

Sure he would have tried but Harry I don't think would have died for two reasons. Harry couldn't be killed by Voldemort because Voldemort took the very charm that was protecting Harry(Lily's charm) when he took Harry's blood in the 4th movie. That's why if you read the 4th book dumbledore smiles for a second when harry told him Voldemort forcefully took his blood during voldemort's resurrection ritual essentially taking on the same role Petunia was playing of that of being Harry's protector(Lily's charm extended to not just her but anyone who had her blood to act as harry's protector) plus he was the master of the Deathly Hallows making him Master of Death (Impervious to death) atleast until someone stole a wand(harry's or the Elder wand) from him. If you read the Books carefully you will realise Dumbledore had planned for the Horcrux inside to be killed while Harry himself to survive the ordeal. They have botched up Dumbledore's Character in the last movie. Dumbledore said "Voldemort himself should try to kill Harry" because Dumbledore knew that even if Harry didn't manage to collect all the Deathly Hallows on time, Voldemort who had Harry's Blood(therefore indirectly Lily's) couldn't Harm him.

    • @bryanhickernell7189
      @bryanhickernell7189 Před 7 měsíci +4

@@swetahazra6626a little bit to this I don’t think the said Master of Death means your immortal or cannot die. Dumbledore has said being the master of death doesn’t mean you cannot die it means you can greet death as an old friend.
Which brings me to the story of the deathly hallows and it’s parallel to the modern day. Voldemort has parallels to the eldest brother that died because of his hubris. Snape is a parallel to the second brother who missed his love and eventually died because of his love to her. Harry is a parallel to the third brother who greets death as an old friend; who btw is paralleled with Dumbledore.
A lot of the deaths are indeed shown in the book. Fred’s death hits hard in the book because of how he was fighting with his older brother Percy. Lupin and Tonks still die off screen but it hits more when you realize they had a son.
The book does really explain alot of the stuff you’re trying to say. The book version of the battle between Voldemort and Harry actually takes place in the Great Hall and there is a celebration. James and Lily both died from Voldemort. The prophecy is the reason that he went to his house that night. The gist of the prophecy is that Voldemort chooses the person that will be the one that destroys him. James died to try to give Lily and Harry time to escape. Lily though could’ve lived had she stepped aside and let Voldemort kill Harry. Which was a request made by Snape.
There is a lot more but that’s just some of it

I'd also say for two reasons but one being different:
      - Lily's charm in Voldemort is one

It is questionable however if some of the other deatheaters might have tried...

  • @zarius6363
    @zarius6363 Před 7 měsíci +576

So many questions... I think I can answer some of them, maybe:
    *- What happend to Pettigrew?*
He died at the Malfoy manor. In DH1 when Dobby stuns him from behind that's the last we see of him. In the books, the silver hand that Voldemort had given him chokes him to death when he shows weakness in front of Harry. Basically, Harry reminds Peter how he saved his life by not letting Sirius kill him, which made Peter hesitate for a second, his Silver Hand sensed his weakness/disloyalty and strangled him. They didn't want to show it in the movie because they considered it too gruesome for what technically is considered a family movie.
*- Why did the Potters die if Dumbledore was protecting them?*
Because of stupid Pettigrew. Dumbledore and the Order of the Phoenix were actively protecting the Potters. Protecting them involved hiding them. I won't get into the details but, basically, as part of the Order, Peter was privy to their location, which he eventually revealed to Voldemort because he's a traitor and a coward.
*- Why did Voldemort want to kill the Potters?*
Because he had heard (via Snape who was a Death Eater and a little snitch back then) about the prophecy which talked about a kid who could "vanquish" the Dark Lord. This kid was to be born at the end of July. There were 2 options which fit the prophecy, Harry and Neville. Snape didn't know the Potters were involved, which is why he later regretted telling Voldemort about the prophecy and why he asked Dumbledore to protect them, why he then turned on Voldemort and yatta, yatta. Voldemort then went to the Potters to kill Harry first but couldn't get to Neville later because he failed at killing Harry in the first place and kinda got himself vaporized, didn't he? hehe
*- Why did Voldy want the prophecy in Order of the Phoenix?*
Because he wanted to hear the full prophecy. He thought it would tell him how to prevent his demise. Ironically, the recorded prophecy was always incomplete. Only Dumbledore got to hear it fully because he's the one Trelawney made it to. Snape was eavesdropping but only heard the first half, which is what he communicated to Voldemort.
*- Why they didn't use water to fight the fire in the Room of Requirement...*
Because Goyle used "Fiendfyre". It's a very powerful spell which is very hard to control and the fire cannot be extinguished by water.
*- How did Harry kill Voldemort at the end exactly?*
Technically, Voldemort killed himself. He used Avada Kedavra with the Elder Wand which belonged to Harry. As a wand doesn't kill its master, the spell rebounded hitting Voldemort instead and since he had no more horcruxes left he finally died.
I'm not too happy with the movies either, I feel like they leave out a lot of details. The story is much richer in the books, including the Battle of Hogwarts and Voldemort's back story which, as you mentioned, isn't really addressed in these movies. Anyway, if you liked the story you should read the books or listen to the audio books!

That's the thing about movie adaptations, there's always more details in books than movies. To add all that would've taken time that they had to allocate to other things. It would be even worse if they did a boring exposition dump. It's a real damned if you do, damned if you don't situation.🤷‍♀️

    • @truegamer_007
      @truegamer_007 Před 7 měsíci +20

@@lightningg252 No, most movie adaptations manage to give all the details without being full of plot holes. The Harry Potter movies were always made as supplemental to the books, when they were coming out either you had already read the books or you knew friends who had so they could explain everything to you. To someone who hasn't read the books, the movies are pretty confusing and don't explain most of the important stuff.

The doe was also Lily's patronus, when someone loves another person so much, your patronus gets affected and changes, that's why Snape's patronus was a doe too. It wasn't never explained in the movies but the patronus of Tonks changed to a wolf due to her falling in love with Lupin, a werewolf. Also, Alan Rickman's interpretation of Snape made him a more bearable character, if you ever read the books, you'll see Snape's true nature, he was pretty despicable, but again, yes, he's a good anti-hero. Was reading Halfblood prince the other day, and seeing how he treats Harry when he arrives at Hogwarts is just so unnecesarily vile. I actually found it very well done to have a lot of the deaths offscreen because that is exactly the point of view Harry has. He is not around for the battle, he comes back into the castle not knowing what is going to await him there and everywhere he looks he sees the dead bodys of his friends and classmates. Very overwhelming and shattering.
That is also a reason why you don't see a big celebration. Everbody has lost friends or family members in that battle. They don't feel like celebrating. It feels way more real than the ends of other movies where everybody just cheers and fireworks go off and everybody looks so happy. No, they are sad, exhausted and traumatised, celebrating is not on their mind right now.

“You actually are joking, Perce. . . . I don’t think I’ve heard you joke since you were -”
The air exploded. They had been grouped together, Harry, Ron, Hermione, Fred, and Percy, the two Death Eaters at their feet, one Stunned, the other Transfigured; and in that fragment of a moment, when danger seemed temporarily at bay, the world was rent apart. Harry felt himself flying through the air, and all he could do was hold as tightly as possible to that thin stick of wood that was his one and only weapon…Then he heard a terrible cry that pulled at his insides, that expressed agony of a kind neither flame nor curse could cause, and he stood up, swaying, more frightened than he had been that day, more frightened, perhaps, than he had been in his life. . . .and three redheaded men were grouped on the ground where the wall had blasted apart…
“No - no - no!” someone was shouting. “No! Fred! No!”
And Percy was shaking his brother, and Ron was kneeling beside them, and Fred’s eyes stared without seeing, the ghost of his last laugh still etched upon his face.”

I think you were confused by someones post. Voldermort wanted to split his soul into 7 parts. That takes 6 horcruxes. Its not that his body would be a 7th horcrux, its that theres still some soul left in his body. 6 horcruxes plus the piece of soul still in his body is 7. Obviously, it turns out he split it into 8 since he accidentally made Harry a horcrux.

I haven't read the books for a very long time so can't remember, but couldn't Voldemort have made practically many more horcruxes? I'm imagining his soul as a limited resource, but if you split it when making the first horcrux, would it be 50/50, or did he intentionally work the soul proportions into the spell so it was specifically a seventh. His power doesn't diminish while the other soul parts are alive. His power remains completely intact, so I'd imagine making fifty horcruxes with a tiny sliver would be viable.

Snape is a very complicated character for many reasons.
At school he was already befriended with Lily, then he became part of a group that would later call themselves "Death Eaters", which Lily (ofc) didnt like and Snape called her a mudblood after that. He instantly regretted it, but Lily never forgave him.
After school he joined Voldemorts army full-time and we all know what that means. When he found out, that Voldemort wanted to kill Lilys son because of a prophecy Snape himself heard while eavesdropping an interview between Dumbledore and Trewlaney, he wanted to stop it.
He begged Dumbeldore to save Lily, espacially Lily. He didnt care about James and Harry, JUST Lily.
Why did he keep fighting against Voldy after she died? Simply LOVE. The one thing Voldemort couldnt feel and never understood.
From then on he was a double agent for Dumbledore. He was a valuable member of the Order, but as a teacher he made it a living hell for his students (its pretty bad, the books can tell some stories :D).
He hated Harry, because he reminded him of James, who always bullied him and took his love. He lashed out at Harry A LOT. Not a very good character trace if you ask me. It wasnt Harrys fault (well it was kinda his fault that Lily was dead in Snapes eyes).

@@hbk314 I also think movie-Snape is a LOT more likeable and sympathetic than book-Snape. Book-Snape is pretty much 100% an a**hole to Harry 100% of the time, while Alan Rickman's performance has moments where he openly is protecting the kids (my favorite bit is in the 3rd movie when he puts himself between the kids and werewolf-Lupin) and it is heavily implied in the memory sequence that he DOES, somewhat, come to care for Harry--which he very much did not in the books. He did love Lily, but it was borderline unhealthy because he refused to love anyone or anything else--which makes sense, since he represents the 2nd brother in the Tale of the Three Brothers, who could not let go of the woman he loved who had died and ultimately died because of it. (Though to be fair, Snape KNEW Voldemort was going to kill him. That was always the plan. He was fine with it, so long as he helped set it up so that the man who killed Lily was utterly defeated.)

    So, some clarifications:
    1. Voldemort wanted to break his soul in 7 parts by creating 6 horcruxes (the diary, the ring, the locket, the cup, the diadem, Nagini), the last part of his soul was in Voldemort's body.
However when he killed Lily he accidentaly created a 7th horcruxe: Harry.
    2. Voldemort chased the Potters because of the prophecy about Harry. The prophecy was made by the divination's teacher (Trelawney) to Dumbledore in 1979. But they were spyed by Snape who then was a genuine Death Eater, who only heard half the prophecy and went tell it to Voldemort who concluded that the prophecy was about Harry. When Snape learned that Voldemort was planning to kill Harry, he pleaded to Voldemort to kill Harry and James but to spare Lily because he wanted her. When Voldemort refused, he turned to Dumbledore and asked him to save Lily and he would do anything in return. When Lily and James were betrayed by Peter Pettigrew, Voldemort came to their house and killed James who was trying to buy time for Lily and Harry to flee but was wandless unfortunately, because he was caught by suprise. Voldemort then, went to Harry's bedroom and he found Lily who was shielding Harry with her body. Remembering Snape's request, he told her to move and she would be spared. She didn't. So he killed her, and her sacrifice provided Harry his protection and destroyed Voldemort's body on the spot (but created a horcrux in Harry at the same time).
All of these infos are from the books. Also worth noting that Snape is not a profundely good person, he did insanely good in the end, but he would still be a faithfull Death Eater if Lily wasn't targeted by Voldemort in the first place. He's morally grey (and more on the darker side if you asked me) and it what makes his character that interesting.
    3. There actually was a celebration in the book after Voldemort's death. First of all it was done publically, in front of everyone in the middle of the great hall, and Voldemort didn't evaporate like in the movie, he simply died like the simple mortal he didn't want to be.
    4. In the book, Remus and Tonks' deaths were both not showed. Only Fred's death was "onscreen" and it was heartbreaking.
    5. At the end, in the books, Harry used the Elder Wand to repare his proper wand and he replaced it with Dumbledore, in his grave.

The Resurrection Stone does not bring back the dead. It brings back loved ones from the grave and that's what it did for Harry. Seeing his loved ones gave him the courage to face Voldemort. Harry understood that bringing back their bodies so he could see them was not healthy for him or them. That's why he threw it away when he heard that they would always be with him -- in spirit but not in body -- even without the stone.
After Voldemort killed Harry, Harry was no longer a Horcrux. Each Horcrux carried part of Voldemort's soul and kept him alive. The thing under the bench at the train station was the bit of Voldemort's soul that had lived in Harry, that Voldemort had just destroyed. Once the snake was dead, that was the only part of Voldemort's soul that was keeping him alive. With her death, he could die..
Voldemort did not understand the deathly hallows; no one probably told him the Tales of Beadle the Bard. He only knew about the one hallow with what he perceived as giving him power -- the Elder wand. It was the most legendary, got a lot of attention in wand lore, and its power was what attracted Voldemort's attention..
In the book, Harry did not break the wand. He used it to repair his own wand and then returned it to Dumbledore in his tomb. That way, no one else could use it and Harry had a wand that suited him, that had chosen him.
James was killed blocking the door when Voldemort broke in. His sacrifice gave Lily time to get to Harry and cover him with her love. This caused Voldemort's Avada Kadava (killing curse) to partially fail -- not killing him but making him a horcrux.
Dumbledore hired Trelawny to protect her and her very important propehecy from Voldemort and his followers: The prophecy: ""The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches... born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies... and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not... and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives... the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies...."
    • Both Harry and Neville were born at the end of the 7th month.
    • Both their parents had defied Voldemort.
    • Either one could have been the "Chosen One" but Harry was the one Voldemort marked (the lightning scar), making Harry his equal.
    • Voldemort did not know that he had given Harry power when he put part of his soul in Harry..
    • Once Harry survived death, Voldemort could not live.
The book gave us more of Dumbledore's back story. From what we learned, we understand why he kept so much from Harry. He feared that Harry would make the mistakes he made when he was younger. Dumbledore became a hallows seeker and was overambitious for power to make a better world for the wizarding world because of his sister being an Obscurus. We learn that his father didn't kill the 3 muggles for which he was sent to Azkaban (mentioned in the 7.1 movie) and we learn why he sacrificed himself by not fighting it. We also learn about the death of his sister (in the portrait that took the trio and Neville to the room of requirement). We learn about his guilt over her death that ended his overambition and changed the trajectory of his life. It's a shame none of that was in the movie; that backstory makes him less of a villain who groomed Harry to die and more of a man with human character flaws who gained a lot of wisdom and made some hard decisions to make things right before he died.

The prophecy could not be Neville by the time Voldemort decided to go after Harry... He marked Harry, which was the last part of the prophecy... At that point the prophecy could only be about Harry... Although, before then it was possible.
My understanding of Harry surviving is that it is nothing to do with the stone... I believe Dumbledore has said before that no magic can truly bring back the dead... Also, in the tale of the brothers, the brother with the stone couldn't fully bring back his love, which is why he killed himself to be with her... If I remember correctly, it was Harry's love protection that actually protected him again... I don't think it was supposed to last so long or still be as strong, but there was Dumbledore's spell connected to the aunt, which was supposed to last until adulthood (17 years old), then Voldemort accidentally also strengthened it by using Harry's blood when creating his new body or something... The allegiance of the Elder wand may have also played a part... It also seems that the part of Voldemort in Harry possibly could have at least partially taken the hit too... Either way, Voldy messed up...
This said, it's still possible that if Harry had died, Neville may still have made things so that the Snake and Voldemort may still have been killed and he was still certainly a hero that probably deserves much praise as well.

(the final "conversation battle" between harry & tom will forever be one of my absolute favourite parts of all 7 books, i often go back and reread just that chp)

The ending with Voldemort’s death was definitely done oddly in the movie. I think in part because they tried to time it with Nagini’s death for “dramatic effect.” In the book, the moment with Voldemort and Neville is when Nagini dies. Voldemort is tormenting him, and then the centaur’s cause a distraction, which gives Neville the chance to kill nagini. But the biggest issue with Voldemort’s death is that their duel happened in front of everyone. They weren’t alone. I was deeply disappointed by this, above all things, throughout all the movies. Harry talks shit to Voldemort in front of everyone. Tells him everything has happened as Dumbledore planned, and that Snape was never loyal to him. When Voldemort died (in a normal way, no magical disintegration), everyone cheered and it was triumphant. The movie took away that feeling of triumph. Even the Malfoy’s were there cheering for Harry. There’s many more changes from the book of course, but this change at the final hour of the battle of Hogwarts was easily the most disappointing for me.

Voldemort's soul no longer exists in Harry. That's the whole point of the "The boy who lived come to die" scene. Harry didn't die because, as Harry later explains, the Elder Wand belonged to him since he disarmed Draco at Malfoy Manor. The curse really only killed the horcrux in him. As a result, Harry has lost the ability to speak Parseltongue.
Also, patronuses take on animal forms based on each individual's personality. Lily Potter's patronus took the form of a doe. So when Snape used Expecto Patronum, it also takes the form of a doe - meaning he's still in love with Lily. Hence Dumbledore asking, "After all this time?" and Snape responding "Always."

I'm pretty sure Harry survived the killing curse in the forest because Voldemort took his blood in globlet of fire, not because he was the master of the elder wand. Regarding the number of horcuxes. Voldemort wanted to split his soul into seven pieces, because it’s a significant number for practitioners of magic. That meant he had to create 6 horcruxes, because his “original” soul was attached to his original body. So after he created the first horcrux he already successfully split his soul into two pieces, needing 5 more. He used objects with personal meaning and significant historical magical artefact that had a connection with Hogwarts (his first real home (like Hogwarts is Harry’s first real home)): Ravenclaw’s diadem, Hufflepuff’s goblet and Slytherin’s locket. He never got his hands on any of Gryffindor’s (the sword or the sorting hat which was rumoured to have belonged to Gryffindor himself). Beside those three items he used his teenage diary, the Gaunt family ring (his mother’s family) and Nagini (the snake that again represents his connection to Slytherin as his rightful heir). He never meant to turn Harry into a horcrux. In fact, he wanted to use Harry’s death to make his final, sixth, horcrux. Before he “died” the first time on the evening he tried to kill Harry he had made 5 horcruxes (the ring, the diary, the locket, de cup and the diadem). His soul was split into 6 pieces (there was still a piece of his soul in his body). When the curse rebounded his body was destroyed but this soul inside of it was tethered to the physical world because of his 5 horcruxes. But due to his massively unstable soul inside his body, it broke into two pieces as a result of the rebounding curse. One piece fled to Albania and went into hiding there (and would later get resurrected into a new body using Harry’s blood) and the other piece latched itself onto Harry, making Harry his sixth horcrux. This means he fulfilled his desire to split his soul into seven pieces on that very night, without him realising. However, Harry destroyed the diary in his second year at Hogwarts, bringing the number of horcruxes down to 5 again. In the summer of 1994 (before Harry’s fourth year at Hogwarts) he made his final horcrux: Nagini, bringing the total existing horcruxes back to 6.
In regard to Harry surviving the killing curse in the forbidden forest. This was only made possible because Voldemort used Harry’s blood for his resurrection. It ensured Lily’s sacrifice lived on in Voldemort as long as his second body lived, making it possible for Harry to make the decision to come back to life. But this loophole only existed in the very specific case that Voldemort killer Harry, because Lily’s sacrifice protected Harry specifically against Voldemort.

Also important, but sadly not shown in the film, is that Harry's choice to die in the Forest without resisting in any way (sacrificing his life willingly) meant that the same kind of protection Lily bestowed on him with her sacrifice he in turn bestowed upon all those he loved--ie, all those fighting Voldemort at the Battle of Hogwarts. In the book, Neville's confrontation with Voldemort has Voldemort attempting to both silence all the Hogwarts defenders and to harm Neville. But the spells keep failing, because Harry's sacrifice protected them all. (And if I recall right, not one of the Hogwarts defenders died after Harry died in the Forest, at least not at the hands of Voldemort--because he couldn't actually harm any of them.)
Also important (but I guess wasn't dramatic enough for the filmmakers, or they felt they couldn't because they'd cut too much out and it wouldn't have made sense) is that Harry and Voldemort's final confrontation was in the center of the Great Hall--and Harry did NOT attempt to kill Voldemort in any way; he only cast defensive spells. He actually tried a last ditch attempt to get Voldemort to repent of what he'd done, because Harry knew--from his brief time dead--what was waiting for Voldemort's soul: utter destruction, because he had so mutilated his own soul that there would be nothing left for any sort of afterlife, good or bad. So at the very end of it all, Harry did try to save Tom Riddle. But Tom cast another Killing Curse at Harry, which rebounded once again and killed Voldemort once and for all.
I am very much hoping that the tv series will bring in all the themes and important side-character development that the films frustratingly skipped--that we'll get to know the rest of the Weasely brothers earlier on like we should (and see more of the twins, so that yes, we WILL be as devastated as the Weasely's and Harry when Fred is killed), and Dobby won't show up again just to die, but be present from Book 4 on! And that Ron will be restored to his brave, loving, wizard-world-savvy self (if still insecure) who holds just as important a place in the Trio as Harry and Hermione (Ron is the heart, dammit, he's SO MUCH like Molly Weasley)! (And that Hermione isn't perfect in nearly every way like they made her in the films. Hermione IS awesome--but tends to panic a bit when under pressure, which is why she so badly needs Ron and Harry, who keep their heads in a crisis/fight (Harry in particular, but Ron is actually a close second to staying cool under fire)

      Neville killed the snake.

Hooray for last movie! So warning: very long comment. I was trying to answer several questions you guys had. I do highly recommend both Pudgey and Spartan ready the books! They are fun and cover everything.
First off. Remember when Harry went into the afterlife and saw Dumbledore, Harry did die in a way, but the part of Voldemort in Harry was what actually died, Harry came back to life without it. Oh and as for why Harry was chosen from the start. This was mentioned briefly before but explained more in the books. Voldemort heard of a prophecy of him being defeated by a kid basically. He only heard part of the prophecy though because the whole prophecy said he would choose the one who would eventually defeat him, born at the end of summer, yada yada, and mark the one who will be his demise. If he would of avoided going after Harry and his parents the prophecy would not of come true. Voldemort was so against muggles because of how he was born and his parents. He hated his muggle father for abandoning his family. Now there is a lot of backstory involving where Voldemort came from, but basically he developed a hatred for all non magical people. He wanted to wipe them out, and developed ideas of supremacy over them.
As for Draco, he did choose against Voldemort. He just had to feign like he was choosing his side. Look at it this way, to save his mother, father, and his life after his father failed to get the prophecy he had to obey Voldemort to the point he almost had to kill Dumbledore himself. What would happen if he refused to join Voldemort at the end? His parents were right there, if Voldemort did not auto kill Draco there was high chance he would of taken it out on his parents. He went to them and as soon as the fighting broke out he left with them, abandoning Voldemort. It may seem cowardice but Draco was never really a fighter, his leaving and taking his parents took 3 bodies from Voldemorts army. Especially with both him and his mother having lied to protect Harry in the past it shows that they were doing what they can. I believe Draco and his Mom were forgiven because of them helping Harry at key points.
About Snape, I believe this is some of the info to help. This is info from memory I got long ago so I am trying my best to explain. Snape met Lily as a kid and they grew up together as best friends. Snape developed a crush but she chose James. So yeah there was rivalry between James and Snape due to Lily. Snape, upset about losing his crush to his rival, went full rebellious bad kid and joined Voldemorts army. Young adult, 17, you get it, he made a dumb choice and joined a gang essentially. When he found out that Voldemort was planning to kill Harry Potter and his parents, it snapped Snape out of it and he ran to Dumbledore asking for help to protect them. Thats when he became a double agent. Due to Scabbers betraying the Potters the parents still died. Broken hearted Snape mourned but still protected Harry. Harry having his mothers eyes sort of was like it is all that is left of Lily. His childhood best friend and the one he loved. As for the Patronus. I believe when your in love your patronus can change to reflect your beloved. Since they are like your happiest memory. James and Lily had a stag and doe. With Lily's death Snape's patronus became a doe, always a doe. He will always love her. Even after all this time, which is why he will always help Harry.
Sad fact: when we saw Hagrid he was captured. He was battling on his own in the woods to protect the school. He was captured and tied by the throat. He cared a lot about Harry since he got to see him as a baby and watch him grow in school. So when Voldemort attempted to kill Harry Hagrid just saw a kid he cared a lot about die in front of him. To add to the pain he was then forced to carry the "dead" body of Harry all the way from the forest to the school.
As for the off screen deaths, I think reason why it was off screen was to add to the horror of war. Harry walks into the school and sees so many bodies from the war, and comes across people he cared for, dead. All while him thinking this is all his fault, they died protecting him and fighting for him. He may not of seen them die, but he wasn't even there for it where he could of saved them. Now I don't remember if they celebrated after the war, but I think he did get some congratulation a bit more. But really the reason why there wasn't a party was because the school was destroyed and there were bodies everywhere. They won, but now they must mourn. Hence no big hurrah for Harry. Which makes sense. Now after the clean up and funerals and such maybe. But the book was also so big by now that it was more left to be assumed I think. Also with how James died, Lily was in the nursery with baby Harry, James tried to stop and fight Voldemort in the hall to protect Harry and Lily, he died in the hall. Snape stepped over his body before going into the nursery and seeing Lily's dead body next to Harry's crib.
Oh! About the part where Harry tells Snape "How dare you stand where he stood!" Yeah we know Snape was a good guy later, but even then he actually never attacked or hurt people there. When Mcgonagal started Dueling Snape he never once sent and attack toward her. He just blocked each of her attacks. In fact he even deflected one of her big attacks to take down the Carrow siblings behind him before he ran away. In doing so taking down the only 2 other bad guys there while seeming just defending himself. He took out his wand against Harry but never intended to hurt him, he was merely performing his double agent act so Voldemort would not get suspicious.
Hope this helps! Yay for watching the series!

George didn't witness Fred's death. It was only Harry, Hermione, Ron, and Percy with Fred. What made it really shocking and heart-wrenching was that there was a moment after the explosion where it seemed like Ron, Percy, and Fred were all dead, to which the reader will most likely be inclined to react with a sense of denial, but then it turns out to be only Fred, and your brain is so eager to be relieved that Ron and Percy are still alive that denial goes right back out the window (or the hole in the wall, I guess) and so Fred's death just hits you right away with all its force, along with the guilt from being relieved that it was "only Fred". The impact of seeing the camera pan over their dead bodies was just as, if not more impactful than seeing them die in battle because you just aren’t expecting it, 3. It’s a way of showing how much death and destruction the fight is actually causing that you don’t have time to see when friends die.

Plus him going on with Dumbledore's plan was just his guilt about being the reason Lily died in the first place.
      Snape really was a dick!

Yes, they have Bellatrix's wand. The issue is that if the goblins have been warned, they might also have been warned that her wand was taken. Also, in the book, the fire in the Room of Requirement is powerful enough to destroy the diadem. It's just near-impossible to control, hence why Hermione didn't suggest it before.

55:07 Remember when Harry opened his first chocolate frog it ran away from the window. Now their kids find a wild chocolate frog. Thus completing the full circle. 57:44 In the books it is told that your patronus change based on the love of your life. For instance, James and Lily's patronuses were stag and doe respectively. Similarly, Hermoine and Ron's patronesses were Otter and Jack Russell Terrier respectively and one is known to pursue the other. Similarly, we learn that Tonk's patronus changed in the final battles when she fell in love with Lupin. 1:05:20 This is the worst part of the movies. It was never like this in the book. In the actual story, Voldemort died like an actual human and at the age of 70. This was the real irony in the books, since it is known that an average wizard could live till their 150s but even though Voldemort went to great lengths to become immortal, he didn't even live half of the average live of a wizard. 1:07:40 It is important to remember that so many people lost their lives barely hours before Voldemort's death. Both Lupin and Tonks die, orphaning their son Teddy, Snape died, Fred died so there is no happiness in the family that Harry is closest with, even Hermoine isn't happy as she is not sure if she will be able to find her parents and remove the spell she did on them at the beginning of part 1. 1:08:48 Scabbers a.k.a. Wormtail a.k.a. Peter died in the last movie when he showed mercy to Harry and co for saving him in the third movie and Harry reminded him of James. As soon as Peter felt for Harry, his magical hand that Voldemort gave him in the graveyard in Goblet of Fire choked him to death (not in the movies from what I remember). 1:08:57 Lupin (or the warewolf guy) appeared in the memory from the resurrection stone, he assured Harry that people will tell his son Teddy about the heroics of his parents. 1:1021 It was the whole point of the prophecy from the Order of the Pheonix. It said that the child born to the parents who thrice defied the dark lord can kill him. This meant that it was either James and Lily (Harry's parents) or Alice and Frank (Neville's parents). Next the prophecy said that the dark lord would mark the child as his equal, that happened when Voldemort decided to go for Harry rather than Neville, it was a 50-50 chance (but he chose Harry because Harry and Tom were more alike, they both were half bloods). 1:12:19 It was explained in the Prisoner of Azkaban that James and Lilly trusted Peter and he betrayed them and sold their lives to Voldemort. 1:15:35 This is the funniest line ever, since 90% of Ron's dialogues were given to Hermoine in the movies. Technically, he was reclaiming his own spot. 1:17:47 Once Snape called Lilly a mudblood and that led them to apart as friends, but she was the true love of his life. 1:18:23 Those are called non-verbal spells that even Ron, Harry and Hermoine learned in their sixth year. Harry used it as well in the Battle of 7 Potters if you watch that again. All this is answered in the books.

Hello! I just finished watching your reactions to all eight movies (and essentially rewatching the entire franchise as well, thank you haha) and I wanted to say some things!
    1. Thank you for these reaction videos. I feel like your reaction videos to HP are the most interactive for me, in a way that I felt like I was included and not just watching two people watch movies I like. And I have been binge-watching HP reaction videos the past few days, so I've watched quite a number. There were a rollercoaster of emotions while watching you! (It's a positive thing hehe)
    2. I appreciate that Spartan was honest about the first two movies and if I'm also going to be honest, it hurt to hear that you said they were more childish (it's mostly just because of my attachment to them so don't worry hahaha) but deep down I know you're right; the target audience was younger people. In connection to that though, it was delightful to see you to start really really enjoying the movies from Prisoner of Azkaban (because believe me it would have broken me if you didn't as POA is my favorite to this day).
    3. To be honest once again, and take it as a compliment, I was bummed that Pudgey was able to surmise the right things about Snape that early! Hahahaha. Amazing, amazing intuition and attention to detail. Whenever the both of you were spot-on, I went, "Nooo, now it won't hit as hard!" (I bet it still did, but you get me! Haha) But truly it was so fun to watch two people be that brilliant at predicting things. I know that by the end you both still feel a bit lost and confused about some things, but believe me you were on point more times than you realize!
    4. On that note, I am speaking as someone who knows what transpired in the books: I really almost wish you upload one last video on Harry Potter reading about the things that were still confusing after the movies. I was frustrated when you were both still confused at the end. Not frustrated at you, but frustrated at how the movies were done because there were really a lot (and i mean A LOT) of things from the books that they didn't include. I reckon once you are filled in, you will be able to appreciate the story more and will definitely hit harder if/when you rewatch.
Again, thank you so much for taking the time to watch, edit and upload your reaction video! It was a journey!
P.S. Oh, I would also love for you to take the Sorting Quiz on the official website and know which Hogwarts House you're in. 87% sure Pudgey is in Ravenclaw. Gryffindor for Spartan seems fitting too! But I could be wrong, who knows!
    Sincerely,
    A Slytherin

Something you and most people including myself missed is the first major clue to Snape's good nature in this film. During the fight with McGonnagall before he escapes he intentionally takes out both Death Eaters who were with him, the two that Neville had mentioned about being the ones to watch out for. With the patronus, Lily's was a Doe and it's believed that Snape's morphed into one as a result of the woman he truly loved dying horribly as patronuses can change with large enough events affecting the user. Also a little side note but Lily's delivery of "Always" during the resurrection stone scene is very similar to that of Snape's during the memory sequence.

    • @Lina_unchained
      @Lina_unchained Před 7 měsíci +7

He also doesn't ever attack during the fight. He doesn't want to hurt Minerva and being the level of powerful that he is he knows that there's a good chance that one or both of them could get hurt or killed if they duel and he doesn't want to hurt his friend whom he cares about...so he simply deflects her spells to the other death eaters, and jumps from one to the other before he goes out the window, taking their wands. This shows that he has also made it hard for them (once they wake up) to retaliate. Snape is just a brilliantly written and acted character.
My one issue with Harry in the books and films is that he is constantly talking about how awful Snape is but every time he's proven wrong and he STILL doesn't change his opinion of Snape. I'm not saying that he shouldn't think Snape is a bully because he is, what I'm saying is he is constantly accusing Snape of trying to kill him or destroy Hogwarts and it is literally never true and he is proven that it's not true every single time. When his broom starts going crazy in the first movie Snape protects him with a counter curse and Harry STILL chooses to believe the Snape is an evil guy out to kill and destroy him for every movie to follow. LIKE BRO THIS MAN SAVED YOUR LIFE YEAR ONE when he could have let you die. He helped you out when you were attacked by a Werewolf even AFTER you attacked him. He sent the order to the ministry to help protect you when you put yourself and your friends in danger by being too stupid to not recognize that Sirius wasn't actually at the Ministry. Like you have been unfair to this man your entire life, Haz and there were way more moments than just the memories that should have made you act right when it comes to Snape.

Spartan was actually right pudgy was wrong lol. The part in harry was already destroyerd when voldemort "killed" him in the forest. After that only the snake & voldemort himself was remaining. So that's 2 parts of his souls. When nagini gets killed, only voldemort remains but he cant kill harry bcuz elder wand recognises harry as its master so harry is able to overpower voldy & kills him in the end.
    2) u didn't understand the Snape memories thing. His patronus is a doe same one as lily (when u love someone so much ur patronus turns into that person's patronus, this is why Dumbledore was surprised that snape still has that patronus means he still luvs lily). & Yes it was Snape who sent his patronus to harry to tell him about the sword being in the lake. He's the one who put the real sword in the lake & fake sword in belltarix's vault.

Moody, Lupin and Tonks are off-screen because that's how it is in the book. Harry doesn't see them die, he only learns about it like he does in the movie. Fred's death scene in the book is much better, but since they changed stuff I guess it didn't fit anymore. Voldemort's death in the movies is not the best imo since once again it's different in the book and I think a lot clearer too when it comes to the horcruxes etc. Lot of backstory for Dumbledore, Snape and Voldemort got left out of the movies and it's a shame since it adds so much to the characters and the story. Mostly though this movie is really good and follows the book pretty well. Pettigrew actually died at Malfoy manor, it just isn't how it happens in the movie, in the book it's pretty violent I'd say and was probably cut because of time.
edit: it could have also been Neville! It didn't need to be Harry, the whole point of the prophecy is that (in the longer form that you don't ever hear in the movies) Voldemort chooses his adversary, there were two families, two boys that fit the description in the prophecy; Harry and Neville, and it didn't become about Harry until Voldemort tried to kill him. In another world Neville would have been the chosen one instead of Harry. And it's kinda Snape's fault, since he's the one who told Voldemort of the prophecy (or the part that he heard anyway, he didn't hear all of it).

57:49 - Spartan, the memory scene that you are discussing not only answered EVERY question BUT immediately after they made the choice of having Harry sit down in silence for a moment on screen so he could also absorb it. I wish the two of you had paid better attention in the previous films. If you had, you would know that whenever someone does the Patronis charm it appears as an animal. That animal never changes, ever. Harry’s is a Stag, this was shown in the 3rd and 5th films and he and Ron discussed it in the 7th film. Now, the animal represents the happier part of your soul. Think of how many animal species there are in this world, in the 5th film the kids are practicing this spell NOBODY has the same animal. If you do, it is a deep connection of the soul. So now we are in Snape’s memories and he casts his patronis, it is the same as Lily’s. That was showing his deep connection and love for her. He also goes to Dumbledore in his memories and asks him to protect Lily, Harry, and James. Dumbledore doesn’t. It shows that Snape was the one who found her dead, and that he held her sobbing. THEN, Dumbledore reveals that Harry has to die. It then shows how upset this made him. Dumbledore may have become a better man, but he was in NO WAY a good man. He did raise Harry like a pig for slaughter.
Second thing, The resurrection stone did not save Harry. Harry never died. When he was attacked, Voldemort accidentally killed the piece of himself that was within Harry. The scene in “Kings Cross” is NOT Harry talking to Dumbledore. It is Harry’s head, talking to the version of Dumbledore that he knew. Again, Dumbledore truly believed Harry had to die.
Lastly, you noticed at the end that Harry was using Malfoy’s wand. How did he get it back though, Malfoy hunted him down to get it back. Well, as Neville finished his speech and Harry jumped out of Hagrid’s arms Malfoy ran towards Harry and yelled “Potter” and tossed him his wand. This scene was shot, but made everything seem even more chaotic. I believe they only did one or two takes of it before they realized they had to remove it. It is just important to know that Malfoy ended up helping in the end.
