There are very different situational examples where we can discuss how you might be able to wear sport coats and blazers with jeans. You can also look at the different times where you might have seen someone on a semi-casual occasion, perhaps, a business meeting or even going out on a date. Time after time, we've seen men pull out this outfit but only a few do it well.
A jacket is inherently much more dressy than jeans. Jeans always look much more casual.
The main reasons why a jacket with any pair of jeans would not look appropriate are usually due to both fit, and to the overall formality of the combination.
Blazers are not one size or one style for all situations item. When selecting details to pair with jeans, you're gonna want to look for things that are gonna casualize the jacket as much as possible.
Fabric weight for your jacket or sport coat is available in a number of different densities depending on the season, and what you're wearing it, and what outfit you're trying to put together. That's important for both your temperature, but also for your appearance; that you pay attention to the overall breathability and the weight of the fabric you choose to wear for your jacket or sport coat.
Here at Gentlemen's Gazette, we certainly believe in you being able to express yourself and have a great time with your clothing but we don't want to cause an accident on the street. Unless the event you are attending calls for you to be able to wear a lot of extra flairs, it's usually best to operate with the philosophy of less is more. - Jak na to + styl
Kyle has a nice relaxing warmth to him. Kind of like the Bob Ross of the Gentleman's Gazette.
Best comment on the channel :)
My husband is retired military, so he spent over 20 years being told exactly what to wear every day. Your videos are helping me guide him in the right direction in the civilian world. Thank you!
Kyle is an outstanding addition to the team. New perspective but still true to classic dress guidelines. Great video
SO TRUE
I like to wear a full set of medieval armor with my jeans.
Yeah, I wouldn't walk out the door without my sabatons on.
Well you have got to stay classic and there arent that much good old outfits out there that aged as good as a full set of armor. Just look at the old Hugo Boss collections and you will get my meaning.
I like the new variation in content, nice to get more smart casual clothing ideas. Steve McQueen style and now this 👍👍
Ditto. Especially with the pandemic leaving many of us with another good reason to put on a sportcoat or blazer with something more casual.
Only thing getting me through lockdown
“Visually confusing to people in your presence” is a phrase I’m definitely going to incorporate into my euphemistic/snarky retorts.
I really like Kyle! This is my first time watching his videos, and I really appreciate his perspective on menswear. He’s a great addition to the team! Also, that hint of a Southern accent is so amiable and welcoming :)
I know that Sven likes Classical and Preston loves his jazz. I'm interested in what music Kyle likes?
Gangsta rap.
Carl Trotter kpop
Louis Armstrong?
If they're classical and jazz, then he's disco.
I’ll bet he’d shock us all with some Pink Floyd or Aerosmith.
Spectacular video Kylie! Definitely great take on both classic and modern, keep it up
Always a favorite style of mine, thank you Kyle for the great video, gave me some new ideas!
Thanks for the amazing videos! I'm a highschool student but I've become very invested in my style lately and wanted to look good and feel good. I've got a growing wardrobe but I still need these videos for a little advice on what to wear and what to combo with stuff I already own. Keep up with the great stuff.
Very nicely done and super helpful Kyle. Thank you!
I love this look.
Remember gents: no French cuffs with denim.
That burgundy blazer was nice 👍
I love that burgundy blazer. A very nice item. Many thanks.
Your first outfit is wonderful Kyle, nice choice!
You are killing it my brother
Here is a classic jean look. Black Corderoy Jacket, White dress shirt (higher collar). No tie or pocket square, Dark Blue Jeans, Black Casual leather shoes (no wingtips) with black over the calf socks. My daily dress look is dark. No light colored jackets or trousers unless it is a special occasion. Wear a nice watch silver not gold. Wear a silver ring if you want.
Its difficult to take advice on clothes because each man is unique in the presentation he is trying to project. Given the choice you have to match your clothes to who you are. This will reinforce your natural confidence, and be consistent with your mannerisms.
Men may like your look, women will respond to it. For every day my focus is to dress to impress women not men. Why, women will recognize detail and understand the effort in how you present yourself. With a look that works, women seem to subconsciously understand that you respect yourself, and what is amazing is that this assessment is very very fast like 2-4 seconds from first seeing you. Does this mean you chase the latest fashion, no. A thought out classic look that is polished but understated is the goal. This is not easy to do especially in combination with jeans. For example, all the combinations in this video, I would not use. I hate brown shoes unless it is a special occasion where I have to wear brown.
I really just dislike brown in general unless it is a suede jacket. A possible exception is the classic camel hair jacket, which I do not really consider as a basis for a brown combination. Here again camel hair jacket with black dress trousers, which puts the focus back on the jacket, which is what we are trying to display.
Once you can consolidate your over all wardrobe that matches who you are, you will then have a consistent look that people will start to identify with. This is a form of personal branding, and it works.
Good content, gentlemen 🤙🏾
I was just waiting for this video
Great video guys! ON POINT!
Just what i needed
Very informative! This gentleman is ideal because he has the build-sense of self-warmth which are two of many reasons most men will accept/appreciate his opinions.
My all time fave channel probably ever on CZcams; huge fan guys!!
Everybody else, try watching/Listening on 2x, my mans got the perfect flow. thank me later :)
great video guys
Very much appreciated.
God, remember back a decade or so when every internet guy had a black blazer, jeans, and a nerdy graphic tee?
Great video. 😄😄
Nice video. Could you do a video about the style of Delboy Trotter?
This is my style!
A Video on highland dress codes would be nice. Keep up the good work
Great video Kyle, thanks a lot. What type of shoes work well with the sport coat and jeans combination?
Enjoying and learning in The Bahamas :)
The sweater suits you very well.
Great video as always! I wanted to ask you, because we are currently in quarantine, if you could make a video about how to dress classy at home or for leisure?
I dont know what smoking jackets are really for, but they look great!
My principal will take great inspiration from this :D
Plz upload some vdo that which dress gentleman should wear during corona situation
I need a review of these boots
Hello Mr « New » Sir, good video! Keep it up!
I like your videos except this one seems to contradict with a previous video, wearing dark blue blazer with dark jeans?
More on fabric weights!
Can I wear a beige sports jacket and black or dark blue jeans, with shirt and tie in a job interview for marketing or IT role? Or should I lose the tie?
How about your attire now, can you wear that same combination in a similar job interview I mentioned?
Thanks
I've seen some good combinations with very distressed jeans! But these guys are very cool, successfull and their jackets expensive or very good quality...and very good shoes. Looks to me, that they have money + taste...and use their distressed jeans to break and leisure the other clothes. Very cool, but works best if you are your own boss and have nothing to prove
Can't I use a blue blazer in combination with a lighter jeans like a lighter blue, tan or beige?
At what age do you think jeans are a no go?
Hello @Gentleman'sGazette I’m looking for your video where Kyle is wearing a olive green puffer vest jacket. Can you help me please? I liked his style in that video and I can’t find it.
I always wear jeans and a collared shirt every day
Can we get this gentleman a coat that fits, and some saphir shoe products?
Hello everyone
You're doing a disservice by including shots like 5:33 as examples of correct fit, his shirt sleeve is easily 2-3 inches short and jacket sleeve is at least 3 inches short, the jacket is halfway to his elbow...
Agreed, the checkmark is unfortunate. It was not about the fit, but we should still display a better fit. For the proper guidance, please refer to www.gentlemansgazette.com/how-a-suit-should-fit/? and www.gentlemansgazette.com/sleeve-length-suits-shirts-jackets/jackets-jeans-menswear-combinations/?
We wanted to add someone to the team who had a slightly different take on things, and I agree it is not a classic fit at all, but we wanted to have that different perspective so we can discuss it here in the comments ;).
Known as the top gear or the Clarkson
The DB suit in the end isn't as bold (people wore dark green as much as they wore grey and brown once, or atleast here in Italy)
Can you do a video on how pull off a beard with suits
Consider suit jackets with a different collar, such as nehru or mandarin collar.
Want new EDC (Everyday carry) vidoe.
the general advice is great, but appears to be matched to a series of blazers that do not fit well, are baggy and lack any shape or tapering.
MY advice is better: Semi-dress boots, darkest blue jeans for formality, suede or microfiber textured brown jacket, and button up shirt. Perfect for making a good first impression without looking like a tryhard.
Raphelle said not to wear a white shirt and no turn up/cuff on jeans with jackets
Kyle what made you wanna join the gentleman’s Gazette?
Ties with jeans is a NO NO....
A knit tie can work
Li
distressed jeans should only be worn while doing dirty chores, like painting or heavy garden work, after which you dispose of them.
I use them to polish my shoes!
No jeans with blazer!
I'm a tall big guy. 6'2 215lbs. His jacket looks too small to me. I like a comfortable fit but not tight. His looks like he would have problems buttoning it.
Hmm i want to wear blazers but you know in my country its 40 degree celcius i will be cremated alive 😁
mh armaan sheikh where do you live
What country
A bit slim for my taste
I think his pants certainly are. IMO
Carbonado i agree
I assume double-breasted blazers are a no-go for this combination?
Kyle is my real dad
Great video, consider pacing yourself a bit more when speaking. It feels like the video is running at 1.25x speed. I understood everything you said and appreciate the commentary so it’s not clarity at stake, but rather the emotion that you will instill in your viewer. Think of how you want the viewer to feel. Perhaps as thought they are lounging in your living room and you’re both comfortable and wish to exchange thoughts on a subject you both love. 👍🏼 great video.
This is Jeanious
Next video: should you wear jeans & jacket with necktie?
I like Kyle just fine. But some of the details on his clothes seem off to me. For instance, I don't think the crew neck sweater is doing him any favors. A V-Neck would be much better. And, for all of his talk about well tailored garments, all of his jackets look too tight on him, as if he couldn't button them comfortably. I would also never pair dark jeans with a navy sports coat. There is not enough color contrast there. And I would never wear a Blazer with jeans. Too much of a contrast of materials there. I know Kyle says he enjoys a tapered or slim fit jeans, but for his body type it makes him look way too top heavy. Also, I don't think cuffing your jeans and wearing them with black dress shoes works. Actually, I don't think black dress shoes ever work with jeans.
I like Kyle's personality and I think he is a good presenter but a lot of his clothing are not well fitting from a classic viewpoint.
Johan Johansen he should NEVER wear slim fit clothing
Yeah, it is a bit slim fiting but I guess that is the GG trio. Sven- the dandy and the conoisseur, Preston- the classic from the 40s and Kyle- the edgy gent.
Yes, Kyle definitely prefers a different fit. We want to add someone to the team who had a slightly different take on things, and I agree it is not a classic fit at all, but we wanted to have that different perspective so we can discuss it here in the comments ;).
@@krunoslavkovacec1842 well said
I think he looks fantastic. He is a big guy and things are not going to fit or hang on him as they do the others. They are slim and things will look totally different on them.
While I am happy that you are incorporating more content in the casual spectrum of menswear, I think it's important to consider the overall feel and image of your channel so that everything is cohesive. Things like the tone of voice, pacing and, of course, the outfits shown should reflect that elegance and sophistication we all love from GG, even if the outfits shown are meant to be casual. I feel this video clashes somewhat with the atmosphere your channel normally projects. Just as a reference, the video He Spoke Style did on the same subject a few months ago is closer to what I had expected to see portrayed here when I clicked.
:)
Hey .. Distress jeans are not classic men wear!! Even if some people are able to pull it off! This shouldnot even be a discussion point on the Gentleman's Gazzette.
Also that checkered jacket @05:333 is 2 sizes smaller than your body size !
I am not impressed with this episode.
Eyad Ahdab, distressed jeans: it's the "I was attacked by a tiger but survived" look.
Get tf off your high horse
Good info, but Sven Raphael has a unique and engaging way of presenting that info... this man is no Sven Raphael. More Sven, less other men.
I am not a fan of wearing jeans with a smart sport coat, blazer or similar style jacket in any circumstances Jeans are just too casual. However, that's only my opinion.
I stoped watching these because I don’t have anywhere to go :(
I stopped watching these because majority of people don’t dress like this anymore and I’m okay with that 👌🏽
How to Pair Denim Jeans with Jackets, Blazers & Sport Coats: You don't.
He's not bad... but he could have a British accent😂
It is odd that Mr. Thibodeaux would mention that sports coats should always fit well when he always wears overly tight coats and pants. I realize this has been the style for almost 10 years, but it can only be pulled off by slim individuals. Additionally, it is not reflective of the message delivered by a channel devoted to classic mens clothing.
I don’t know man he looks pretty sharp in almost all his demos.
Denim is working clothes. I don't believe denim should be used for any purpose besides.
I am not alone in my opinion, see a dude show up in a jacket and jeans, loud shirt, looser!
Distressed jeans belong in the trash! I personally don't like to see anyone's underwear. Shredded jeans look sloppy.
Sorry, no. Gentleman and denim are not two words that go together. Denim is a working mans’ cloth, not worn by a gentleman. Known as the ‘Devil’s cloth’ in the Officers’ Mess.
This is the "I want to be professional but cool at the same time" ... don't like it. Go blazer with a graphic tee!
Alithia451 not every event allows such attire. And graphic t-shirts are not appropriate for 45-70 year old men.
Graphic T and a blazer is the worst thing you can do.
