7 weeks ago on launch day, i disassembled the iPhone 13. Now i have been able to get my hands on the proper adhesive seal in order to reassemble the phone. But can i make it waterproof again?

This is superb. I was hoping to replace the battery myself but actually do use the phone underwater frequently and did not want to lose it’s resistance. Thank you for the repeat experiment to make sure what you did works!

Just so you know 90c is safe to use to heat the seal and a heat plate does it much better. Try that next time. Great video.
Wont the adhesive stick to plate?
Ngl I really dislike videos with no talking but thanks for showing this proves informational to me.
I gave you a sub because you deserve it great video.

Hi, I'm planning to self-repair the housing of my iPhone XR model. I know that when replacing the housing, I need to remove the bottom part, including the speaker, but if I remove the adhesive, from that part of the old housing and transfer it to the new housing, will the waterproofing degrade or become ineffective? Also, I was wondering how the button area is waterproofed. I will be purchasing the housing with the buttons assembled. thanks for reading. Have a great day!
This is like dankpods from an alternate universe
You should’ve been a little rougher in the water test. Maybe you could’ve shared it and put in many positions
five dolla´, NO WAY!!!! :)) that phrase, said in that way, made me laugh and drop a like! Peeeeeace!
6:11 what enderman dissapeared here 💀
Marvelous.sir
Have you tried sealing with b7000? Is it still water resistant with b7000 glue?
Proved the haters wrong my boy 😎
Is it worth to apply some say even dust and water pass through it after some time???
Do you have an engineering degree because what you do is awesome
Hey thanks! No I don't have an engineering degree :)
Tried it because i got dust inside my camera, finaly find out that the frame of the screen was broken, Put some glue and cleaned all perfecly, i hope it will work !!!
Can you do for samsung flagship and midrange phone?
Can we use a roll adhesive model ?
filmed on s22 😍
1462? power was not invented back then! where did they get a hair dryer from! :D lol
😆 hehehe, what you've never watched The Flinstones? Historically accurate 👌
@@RestoreTechnique We dont have that here but i will take a look at it tomorrow!
you vid should be very popular am i the only one that asks this question you very good i making video btw
im having doubts the average refurber is reinstalling water resistance??
whabbout dust resistance ?
the heat gun is not causing any battery overheat?
I became interested in the waterproof seal after I was interested in buying a refurbished phone off Amazon. If you look in the details, it says they change out the battery but the waterproofing/resistance isn't covered by their new warranty any longer. I decided this was a dealbreaker and instead purchased a refurbished/refreshed phone from Samsung instead where there was still the full 2? year warranty, which covered the seal, I think.
This made me think that water "proofing" the phone again would be a really tall order, but it looks only a little more difficult than replacing the screen. I also searched the website provided and they only sold seals for older iPhones and some Chinese phones like Huawei. So if watersealing is doable by people other than the OEM, why isn't it done more? I mean, if you're going to take away our headphone jacks and the ability to change out our batteries, the only acceptable exchange imo is the watersealing!
Thanks for your story. Last I knew, no phone manufacturers provide a warranty for water ingress, even though their phones are advertised with an IP rating and a depth/time specification.
This is because they can't trust that the user handled the phone appropriately, and had all the ports closed, and didn't surpass the rated ingress protection.
If they covered water damage under warranty, then anyone who didn't have the sim tray inserted properly, or took the phone into salt water, or left the phone in the pool for an hour, or took it deeper than 1-2m, would claim on warranty.
So it makes sense that no refurbished phone is providing a water resistance guarantee. But I know that some repair technicians do not care enough to make a phone water resistant again. It's just laziness.
Fyi, REWA offer the OEM seals for all the iPhones, including the 14 range.

Steve Jobs is as cold as the titanic, he could’ve not sent that
No it's from, ah, Spoodle, Spoodle Jobs. Different guy 😺
the 17th on a second attempt was a bit rosy. even tho i think it's a success for unauthorised repair shop
I know! I forgot to change that one after the first attempt 🤦♂️
It was already rosy for the 2nd try.
So the small screen gap between frame and display in iPhone 13 is not a big deal ?
Correct, as the adhesive barrier is after that gap around the sides. This is the case with nearly all waterproof phones.
@@RestoreTechnique thanks man. Only problem with that is dust accumulation 🥴
Does di also work on iphone 12 mini?
How many liquid indicator in the iPhone 13 ?
Apple are going to allow 3rd party screen repair that doesn’t disable FaceID soon. There will be a software update to allow it.
Face ID was disabled because I removed all the cameras including the front facing assembly 😁
If it was put together waterproof, it can be put back together waterproof..
waiting for make audio jack for iphone 13
Mmm Apple Juice
Well,.. i learned that the model number is inside the sim tray!
This is an excellent video. Im confused why sites like back market do not allow 3rd party refurbishers to even suggest if an items waterproof seal has been at least *attempted* to be reapplied... Or at least allow you to reach out to them to see if they claim to apply it, with whatever caveating theyd like... It seems like these waterproof seals should be made accessible to 3rd party refurbishers so they can apply it and skip the premium that apple will charge for a refurb (so they can prod it with a mechanical arm... lol?)
Hello, can the liquid indicator be half red or does it turn completely red when in contact with water? mine is white but the edge looks like it is red
The edge and back of the sticker can look red before getting any water on it, as the white sticker has a red dye layer either at the back or in the middle. So my iPhone 13 sticker I could see a red tinge on the very edge of the sticker, but this isn't water. The dye hasn't bled into the white sticker.
@@RestoreTechnique oh ok, your answer is reassuring, thank you very much and keep up the good work, you are doing a good job 👍🏽 thank u (from France, so Google trad)
can yoou test this with an ipphone se 2020
Also can u try with more depth plssss .
Very amazing video!
But becareful next time, use gloves as your hands has lots of natural oils (Even washed) which will mineralise the demenaralised water and make water damage if not water resistant.
Ok thanks for the tip!
So after repair can it bring back water resistant again? (The repair has water resistant seal but i still dont know if its the same on apple)
Yes
What temp i have to use when heating seel?
There's no set temp, but I do around 65°C so as not to heat up the battery too much.
your faceid should actually work if you update to iOS 15.2 beta, they backed down from the faceid lock! :)
none the less, very cool video man! :D
Thanks! The Face ID didn't work because I had removed the camera 😁
depth. pressure in 1m of depth might kill seal that looks good after a day in a glass. i’d only trust apple to seal because they’ll be on the hook in case…

How well would waterproofing work using b7000 glue?
I'm not sure, I haven't used b7000 glue many times
@@RestoreTechnique if I coated around the inside then u reckon it would hold? Apparently the glue is waterproof idk
@@rek_t Yeah i think it's possible
@@RestoreTechnique cool :D also would you know if there way a way to stop water getting behind the glass at the back camera? You seem very knowledgeable at this stuff! 😅
My iohone 12pro max glass damaged so if i will repair it by an unauthorised apple shop so will it waterproof or not
That all depends on the quality of the repair service. A good shop will make it water resistant again, but a lot of unauthorised shops will not bother.
Bro it still water resistant or not ?
Bro if I change my iphone13 back glass using laser method will my phn be water resistant still
Yes if you install using appropriate glue application. Quality of installation is key.
@@RestoreTechnique I mean is there any water resistant tape on the back side too or only the gum decides
@@dadapeer7407 there's really no water resistant tape for iphone back glass. Only glue is used. There might be some aftermarket double sided tape somewhere idk
thanks bruh, now I know I can switch myself the bottom charging port for 30$ instead of 600$ apple is asking.
😀🤟
Yes I always go swimming with my Phone my Phone is iPhone12 pro max
Next make a Samsung battery swapped iPhone 13
New subscriber bro n I want to replace the battery of iPhone 12pro max at Guwahati will it damage the waterproof of the phone brother n please do reply 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
It all depends on the quality of the technician, and what tools/parts they use for your repair.
Thanks for subscribing 😄
@@RestoreTechnique I don’t know bro what types of tools n thanks for yr advice 👍🏻👍🏻
is this original apple adhesive?
Yes, OEM
what happen to the speaker, isn't it broken??
6:51 source? All i can find is that the first heat gun was invented in 1930s
😂 haha sorry bro, I made that up. That's why I chose a date (1462) that predates electricity by 300+ years.
Do I need to heat the sticker if it’s already sticky ?
You should still heat around the border once you've closed the phone up, and then clamp it down for 30+mins
@@RestoreTechnique what if it’s in the phone for a while already 🙆🏽
@@senile_kidd5157 it may still improve the bond, but not much
@@RestoreTechnique ok glad to hear it’s not too late but I don’t have a heat gun
