There was a chocolate machine in a factory in Ancoats who took sixpences in the 1970s. This is the only pre decimal currency I remember.

I have quite a few sixpence pieces but I have an 1855 Victoria sixpence that has the head of Queen Victoria upside down to the reverse. Can you tell me if this is a mistake or is that the way it was issued? 😅😊

This is waffle, yes the Mintage Figure is high, but you can't use then anymore so people traded them into banks, when they could to get money they could use, then the coins the bank gathered would all be smelt down.
