I told y'all the video would age gracefully! Retro Rewind is live NOW with our Raimi Spider-Man 1 retrospective!!! - czcams.com/video/4EewqOayXEg/video.html
It is a horror game. Running away from the Carnage/Octopus hybrid still intense and scary as hell.
The Lizard was pretty scary on the sequel too
Never realised how much hidden trauma that Carnage had given me, because to this day I can still remember "What colour do you bleed!"
"Nice try! Hue hue huehaaa haha hahahaaa!"
My dad and I beat this game when I was a kid. He made me swing and I made him fight. Him yelling “run! jump! He’s catching up kid!” at me while I franticly played the last level will always stay with me and I was 5 years old. Lol
The one for N64 where he fused with Doc Oct scared the shit out of me
"AGGHGGGG I AGGG WANT- DIIIIEE!"
I got so much trauma seeing monster ock he kept saying die die I like what is that carnage bond to ock I like I have to get out of here run spider man run
@@Misace2500I do not blame you I was scared to of monster ock he was chasing what to kill me I like what this guy problem plus dealing with carnage was bad enough now dealing with carnage with the power of Dr Ock that a nightmare
The Stan Lee intro is legendary✨️
Also the "What If" version is also very sweet 😎
Stan Lee opening to the game was amazing it make me hyped to play hearing that narrator from Stan Lee was good
@@kadosho02the water turn into lava was great
Don't forget the Dreamcast version.
I was a programmer on that port! It was one of the first games I worked on.
Oh shoot. No kidding there you are right right between Andy and Brian.
That's awesome to hear! Thank you for your efforts in creating a GOAT.
@@retrorebound8887 Thanks, but keep in mind, I worked on the port! I don't want to steal any glory from the folks at Neversoft! It was really great being able to help upgrade an already super fun game.
As much as i like the dreamcast port, i womder if there were plans for the sequel to get a dc port
@@theamazingspiderman4911 I asked my boss about that at the time. At that point Treyarch was moving away from doing ports, so my boss didn't have much enthusiasm for it since we had plenty of original projects to work on. With sales of the sequel not being as good as for the first one, I think Activision wasn't too interested in finding another studio to do it.
My absolute FAVOURITE Spiderman game, it just never gets old. Venom in this game is my canon Venom.
The thing I remember most: Kid Moooooooode!
That audio is engrained in my head haha
The carnage doc ock was terrifying as a child 😅
It's one of the most coolest designs ever made. I remember getting so much anxiety, getting chased by that crazy monster.
Dude this game and the sequel were my entire childhood. i used to play them all the time. I know them like the back of my hand, every day i would speedrun it because my PS1 didnt had a memory card i didnt even knew something like that existed. I stil dont know how i passed it, when I was a child I didn't know English, all the dialogues sounded like gibberish.
It blows my mind that the voice of Venom in this Spider-Man game is also the voice for cosmo in fairly odd parents
I'm still recovering from the terror of Carnage and Doc Ock merging and chasing you in this game
This is my favourite Spider-Man game! Played a ton of it on PS1 as a child and I still occasionally boot it up. The escape scene at the end of the game was totally horrifying back in the day...
This game was awesome on the PlayStation 1... that last level though is still one of the most heart pounding experiences in a PS1 game because holy shit 😳
Some of my favorite Marvel games are the non movie related ones.
This game was amazing as a kid. Would do a playthrough with each costume. So much fun!
Was playing this game from my childhood and well into my teens! I loved those little cameos that you could find, like Green Goblin's secret hideout and "Tony Hawk!? Hey, I skated with that guy."😄
DONT FORGET MYSTERIOS MENACE, FORGOTTEN SEQUEL TO ENTER ELECTRO SO UNDER RATED
You left out some of the gold! :) The game had so much replay ability. You could unlock spoof mode where everything was done with a humorous twist from the perspective of The Watcher. If you typed in a bad word on the cheat code screen, Spider-Man would pop up and punch it into a “nice” word. It was such a fun game that knew how to have fun.
Spider-Man (PS1/N64), Spider-Man 2 (The movie game on PS2/Gamecube), and now the Insomniac Spider-Man games are fantastic.
Spidey has been my favorite Marvel hero for most of my life.
Definition of retro rebound for me! Loved this game as kid lol still holds up
This is still my favourite Spider-Man game to this day.
The music in this game was sick! It gave the game a lot of intensity
this game was so good, and i wish there was an accessible way to play it. i randomly had a flashback the other day to crawling across the ceiling of the daily bugle. wild how vivid memories can be.
Duckstation emulation is as easy as can be!
Love the OG music at the start
How many times have I played this game? I’ve lost count lol 😂. Seriously when I was a kid I went crazy with this Spider-Man game. I just couldn’t stop playing. It’s crazy how we’ve gone from this to the legendary insomniac Spider-Man games(1, MM, & 2). We’ve come so far. However after seeing how brutal venom is in Spider-Man 2, it’s kind of weird seeing a bit of a comedy side in this game.
2:34 me with DS and GBA games. lord, how i wish i had the boxes instead of a games handbag full of chaotic catridges.
Man that game was my childhood and I used to play that a lot back in the day! Glad you got to play it again my guy!
this takes me back! playing on my younger brothers' ps1 because i had a SNES lol it and the Pizza Hut demo discs!
YOOOO this takes me back, thanks for bringing back memories Matty. love Retro Rebound Matty, you and HappyConsoleGamer are my favourite Retro channels (can you guys imagine if Matty and Johnny collaborated, that would be WILD)
Bro I just realized this isn't your main page. A whole new world of content awaits.
That commercial in the beginning was good, subverted my expectations too well, that’s exactly what you wanted to do when your mom was calling you to do chores😂 You also don’t see too many games go out of the cinematic gameplay during the commercial nowadays, great stuff🤣
Still my favorite Spider-Man game
The fact that there’s nearly 20 years between Spider-Man (N64/PS1) and Spider-Man (PS4) made me feel like Spider-Man (PS4) had kind of done the bare minimum for a 2018 game.
I had the demo disc of this game on PC as a kid, so I have SO much nostalgia for the opening levels specifically, haha. Only a couple years ago did I finally get the full game for my Dreamcast and was able to experience the full thing proper! :)
One of the first games I ever played and what made me a Spider-Man fan. It needs a remaster or remake!
It’s funny going back to games I played as a kid, I didn’t speak a lick of English, so I had no context for anything. Actually got stuck at the bank when you had to pick up the bomb and throw it into the vault.
Thankfully a friend helped me do it.
This game was pretty solid! However the SPIDER-MAN games for the PS2 make me reflect on my past..
Wouldn't have found you if not for LSM. Keep it up!
My childhood game
Bro when you upload it makes my day
7:45 this was the version I grew up with, that sweet red cart is super nostalgic for me!
how do people have such vivid memories of getting games and things like that for the first time, I can barely remember last week
19:08 I got stuck there as well
Only played it on the N64 as a kid, I had to use the cheat suits to win and the last level you couldn't beat with being invincible I had to get my brother to help!
Carnages screams during the chase and Venom's "SPIIIIIDEEEERRRRRR WUUUUSSSSSSS" continue to live rent free in my head on a very regular basis
The final level always sticks with me regarding Spider-Man games. The villain combination blew my mind and the tense escape was amazing. Replayed it so many times haha.
Always remember that feeling when finding the spider armour power up in the Goblins lair, was such a cool moment 🙌
Venom's voice was perfect in this game! I had no idea this was based on the 90's show until I was older. Amazing game.
I have this game still to this day in my collection I loved this game as a kid.
I had to pause the video and I’ll come back and watch it later. I don’t remember the story a whole lot. It’s been over 20 years since I’ve played this! I’m going go back and play this and 100% it on retro achievements first! Your presentation on this was amazing! Keep up the good work. Did you happen to ever play Dark Cloud 2 Matty?
This is such a nostalgic game for me as well. I have a great childhood memory of playing it with my dad as the first game for my much-anticipated, shiny new Sega Dreamcast for Christmas one year. (Shame on you for not mentioning it came out on Dreamcast too! lol)
I recently re-bought it a couple years ago on PS1 and had a blast. Glad to see this game get so much love, it's also one of my favorite Spider-Man games of all time. Definitely S-tier as far as the linear Spidey games go.
Awesome video! My brother and I played this game everyday when we were kids! It was like part of our daily routine 😂 Love it and it’s what made me LOVE SPIDER-MAN!
Man they don't make commercials like the opening anymore. Miss those!
I remember this game on the 64! We didn't own it but rented it from Blockbuster & played it so much for a few days. My favourite part was the Peter Parker costume because I thought it was funny fighting crime dressed as a normal guy.
I remember playing that game when I was younger. It was an awesome and fun game back in the day.
Bro Maximum Carnage for snes very well represented..
We talked about that! I defended it
@@retrorebound8887 My apologies good sir. Still to this day can't beat that game. Well done.
This was one of my first games for the PlayStation 1, so many great memories
This was so fun to play as a kid growing up!
Still a very good Spiderman game. It was my very first one too
I remember my pick up story, it was in an Easter basket that my aunt gave me, I played only until the bank level because the quiet halls and guns scared me… until I manned up and play the whole game… amazing game
I remember hearing Stan Lee in the intro when I was maybe 7 or 8. I just thought what a voice, who is this guy. Absolute legend.
I have very fond memories of playing this game so many times at my buddies house over and over again! I love this game so much and I always wanted a PlayStation and a Playstation 2!!
Great video I also got this at toys r us with my grandpa
This game has aged… BEAUTIFULLY. I actually still own 1 & 2 since I was a child, so glad I kept up with them all this time.
The nostalgia is s strong here , my mom used to make me go outside because I was grinding this at 5
I’m finally early 😂💪🏽 loved this game as a kid though
This was the VERY first Spider-Man game I've ever played. Me & my brothers borrowed it from our cousin way back when for our PS1. This way also my first exposure to a lot of Marvel characters. Venom & Carnage (who were relatively new at the time), Doc Ock, Black Cat, Captain America, etc. Wasn't near as acquainted with Marvel back then as I am now. This game was hard as hell for back then. I too was stomped by the bomb puzzle. Never put that much thought into the cloud-swinging, yellow fog, or cheats, all this stuff went over me. The enemies scared the piss outta me back then, especially Monster Ock, was always relieved when I cleared it tho. So yeah, I have a HUGE amount of nostalgia for this game. Wonder if it'll ever get the remake/remaster treatment.
I remember my Dad bought me the N64 and PC versions of this game. The game was so fun..
Honestly the theme for the 90s theme is an absolute bop to this day, because the legendary Joe Perry from Aerosmith performed it, and maybe that’s why this soundtrack is such a bop
I remember playing this as a kid on my ps1. Nostalgia ♥
Another great video by Retro Rebound
This was like my first game I installed on my first ever PC back in 2001. I loved this game to bits. It was kinda scary I agree fighting Carnage and the Symbiots in Daily Bugle stage. Always use to hate that stage. But I loved the game especially because the PC version looked so much better as it was remastered. The only problem was the Helicopter chase mission had a glitch where you would fall down and I had to try so many times to clear it
Rino Romano did an Amazing Spider-Man voice 👌
Ps1, ng4, dreamcast AND windows. It was on 4 platforms with dreamcast actually having improved models and webbing on spidermans costume
I remember playing the 64 version at a friend's house, and I could not believe there were no cutscenes in the 64 version.
This one of the best Spider-Man games made by the creators of Tony Hawk. Considering two awesome licensed games from Neversoft, and I have so much fond memories. Hearing Stan Lee's voice really makes you a kid all over again.
I was just trying to force myself to play Ng+ on the new spiderman. I'm so happy to see this once I gave up in it. This is the game that really made me a Spider-Man/comic book fan. No amount of graphics and modern gameplay can match the fun and wonder this game gave me as an 8 year old boy
About your point on knowing about Spider-Man through the different costumes. I had a similar thing for Batman since I played the Arkham games it educated me on the deep cut villans that have been introduced throughout the comics which made me go see the various animated movies and reintroduced the animated series to me
On...boy this one hits hard!!! What a great game, I played it first when I was 11. Could not beat the carnage boss fight. Did not know what I did wrong and also there were no walkthrough.
But this game has a real special place in my heart, the Venom level made me feel like spiderman. Ah man....thank you for this😢
I agree this game was straight up horror for kid me. The final "boss" part is terrifying
I love the different suits in this game
"purple slim balls" 😂 you mean the symbiotes my guy?. Love this game man it defines my childhood and introduction to Spiderman and comic book heros in general, the way it clearly did you too
This game and sly cooper 1 or 2 were the first games I ever remembered playing. It’s funny how looking at the later stages of the game in this video, I know I didn’t even come close to beating it as a 3 year old lol
thank god ive been waiting year's to see you do this video. this is the one i grew up with and it has a special place in my heart and its amazing to see you finally play it thank you so much matty. i hope you continue to come back to ps1 games
Didn’t realize how much I miss this game until now.. might have to go find this one somewhere
Cool fact I learned recently is that the voice actor for venom and a few others characters is the same voice actor for cosmo and timmy tuner dad Daran Norris
Spider-Man & Tekken were my 1st games ever ps1 days were a long ago good times
This was my introduction to Spidey and loved it as a kid. Shit still slaps.
Like you Matty I played this as a kid. Loved it back then but agree it was scary in some areas. Especially the last level with venom or carnage running through that building or whatever. (It's been a long time since I've played it lol) I remember putting in the cheats for the invincible Spiderman costume just to beat the game😂 when I got my N64 again about 10 years ago it was one of the first games I added to the collection.
I remember this gem 🎉
Ps1 cutscenes are prefered to the comic panels for me. Dreamcast took it to another level.
I missed out on these games as a kid. Played both last year by adding them boxed and with manual to my 'PS1 collection of games I want to play that I missed out on as a kid' i enjoyed the 1st game, 2nd stressed me out a bit so prefer the 1st story and gameplay wise. Great achievment for the time.
Just watched this today. Great retrospective review!
I just have one question. Unless u missed it why wasn't the Dreamcast version discussed in this video? The Dreamcast version had the best graphics and framerate.
I played on ps1 not n64 and was one of my favorite games. Enter Electro also dope
A friend of my mom's gave me this while he was cleaning out his home. Haven't played it yet but I was super stoked that I got this game for basically free lol. Though I have heard that the Sega Dreamcast version is the best version since in that version a lot of the character models such as Spider-Man, Venom & Carnage look so much better.
Best spidey game ever I remember the end game cutscenes changed depending on the outcome and time left on the final mission I believe it changed it's been so long though lol.
Definitely need to play the copy I just bought!
I’ve played this game on both PlayStation and n64 memories.
I had a demo disc with this madden 95 and i think spyro year of the dragon.
I remember playing this on my little 12 inch tv screen back in the day good times
Loved this game, brought me back to a place of nostalgia! Could never beat it though. 😂😅
