CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Fleeing the creature, Val (Kevin Bacon) and Earl (Fred Ward) lead it smack into the wall of an aqueduct.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Tremors is actually two movies in one. On its own terms, it's an enjoyable modern sci-fi horror-thriller, with good pacing and a sense of humor; but it's also a loving tribute to such 1950s low-budget desert-based sci-fi-horror films like Them!, It Came From Outer Space, Tarantula, and The Monolith Monsters. Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward are the stars, a pair of small-town handymen living in a small desert community, who stumble upon several difficult-to-explain phenomena, including a couple of people who've died under extremely strange (and, in one instance, very grisly) circumstances. Eventually, they and a handful of their neighbors find the cause: gigantic prehistoric worm-like creatures that streak under the desert the way fish swim through oceans, reaching up and grabbing anything they need for food. Cut off from the outside world, they have to figure out how to get across the desert alive while these creatures -- that are smart as well as fast -- close in on them, stalking them like monster sharks. The film benefits from the presence of special effects that are good enough to pull this all off, keeping the shock value high, and also from a subtly humorous script and performances to match by the entire cast, and director Ron Underwood's breezy pacing of the whole picture.

RIP Fred Ward. He gave an awesome performance in this. Loved 'Tremors' as a kid and it holds up, great monster movie.
RIP. It was someone posting this video that made me aware Fred had passed. He was really great in this, another comment on this video where Fred reacts to his hat falling off I never noticed before that cracked me up. Alot of fun portraying Earl, and one of my favorite movies of all time too. He'll be missed.
How did he died
@@Adam-kk7nw his family declined when the press asked about his cause of death
Apparently Jon Voight was seriously considered for his role.
He very much looked like Eddie Guerrero, the WWE guy
2:36 Best come back ever to the villain/monster.
😂
RIP Fred Ward, one of my favourite monster movies as a kid.
I will agree grew up with this set of monster movies
Most kids watching pbs Cookie Monster and big bird or that so Raven
Me nope grew up with this gem of a monster movie sent when it was tremors and tremors I V the legend begins
However yes rip to a great man and actor. He will be greatly missed.
🪦 💐
WHAT?????
God bless y’all
I can watch this movie over and over again and never get tired of it.

2:35 I remember when this movie was shown on cable TV, this part was horribly dubbed with “Foooooooled you!”
SurfingBullDog that’s why I don’t watch movies like this on tv
I thought he said "screeeew you!"
manw3bttcks I think that was also another censored version.
My version said "screw you"
Obi Wan: "It's over graboid! I have the high ground!"
Graboid: "I can work with that."
😂😂
bacon's gremlin laugh at 2:37 gives me life
I love this scene. The build up to the reveal of the graboid was good because of how it subverted your expectations by only revealing the snake arms until this point.
2:35 when you finally defeat that one enemy that’s been pissing you off
Best "B" movie ever.
No if this is B , then those blatant cgi flicks are C movies
Being a monster movie isn't enough to make it B class. Jaws and I'd argue this one have bigger ambitions
Sm
So true dude. The 2 guys together are hilarious.
The first tremors was not a b movie. Only tremors 2 onwards and 2 is actually quite good. I don't even acknowledge anything after. To me only tremors 1 and 2 are canon.
This movie is truly well-made -- the pacing, the framing of shots, the dialogue. And of course you can't forget about that sound design! It's just great.
I never stop laughing when Earl loses his hat while he's running 😂😂😂
I laugh hard when he actually teaches for his head knowing that hat gone haha 🧢 🏃🏻
Exactly 💕
Those small instances would have gone unnoticed during those days, but thanks to you tube we are Able to appreciate those.
lmao, that's great
Tremors, to me, is the perfect comedy horror film!!
Inspired Toy Story
Fred Ward will be missed. May he be at rest.
Loved watching him with Kevin Bacon and Michael Gross.
I recently came across this movie again and I’ve watched it literally 4 times back to back to back. It’s so good! Perfectly paced funny and exciting! One of the best movies ever!
The characters in this are all so loveable. There really isn't a bad guy human so every person in town is unique, enjoyable, and sane.
Well, except for Melvin. If the graboids ate him, it would’ve been an act of charity.. jk
@@djmocha7He was kind of stupid and bored.
“We knocked it out cold”
*stick its bloody tongue out*
“Nope, we killed it”
A.I-GAIA unit *rockbreaker.*
I loved watching this movie when I was younger and I still do. It's one of those B sci-fi movies I get in the mood to re-watch every now and then, and it just...works. The practical effects are pretty awesome, but the way the characters are written are awesome too, the humor is just great somehow, corny but great. I feel like you just don't see casts of characters like these in movies anymore. Everybody has to be so serious now, or so stupid the jokes fall flat.
adoranymphlupin cinema will always continue to evolve and arguably get better or worse. Can’t make everyone happy. I agree about the casting but remember people as a whole now want something different than old cinema.
@@standyourground9973 "people as a whole now want something different than old cinema" I wouldn't say that. Beyond the casual moviegoers who are satisfied with whatever generic movie Marvel coughs up, people who really know and care about films know there is a problem. People aren't asking for exactly old cinema, we're asking for something with heart and wit and that it at least barely looks like it's making a serious effort
Fawkes The Phoenix I’ll revise that to “consooomers”* as a whole
*see _oomer suffix meme
@@standyourground9973 the fact is after the corporates took over much of Hollywood its all business. They don't care if the masses don't watch the movie. They only want those who can buy the overpriced tickets, merchandise etc. I do agree with the above comment about many actors today having a blank face. I mean the 80s b grade movies had bad acting and I actually like them better than many of the movies today. And I was born in 90s. Evolving is one thing but today it's who's more PC. And their stupid PC Nonsense during the promos makes the audiences reject the movies. Eg- Ghost Busters. People just want to want a nice movie without any politics forced to them.
@@standyourground9973Wrong. Good storytelling is good storytelling. Modern cinema is hot garbage
Val: We killed it! FUCK YOU!
Me: XD I love this movie!
2:35 best line in the movie
Practical effects always makes things look more real. As well as scary.
When done right
2:35
I died.
By laughter.
It was rumored Kevin had nightmares of the worms while he worked on the movie. That probably explains why he seems so excited the most when a worm dies,
"FUUUUCK YOU"
EatitHarvey
Well, he had nightmares of his career going down the toilet because of them. He had almost no faith in the movie when it was in production, and it led to nervous breakdowns and nightmares. Since then, he’s warmed up to the movie somewhat.
😂😁
That's nothing. In 1975 when I was 3 years old I had a nightmare that giant worms were after me. Tremors reminded me of that when I first saw it.
Even after 30+yrs the special effects on this movie still hold up today
This brings back memories
When I was a kid, around 11 years old
Me and my family lived on a ranch in west Texas, it was a small ranch, around 40 acres, enough for a few cows, a dozen goats and some farm space
Anyways, about 100-120 yards away from the main house, was a guest house/ studio apartment
It was fully furnished, and had a 40 inch TV
And well, my family had bought this movie, I hadn’t seen it, and me, my friend and his 14 yr old brother decided to watch the movie
We were in the apartment, hanging out as everyone was coming back home from working in the field (idk why we weren’t, I think they were doing something specific that we couldn’t help with)
Anyways, we watched this movie around 6pm
And by the end, it was dark outside
Man we’re we scared to go outside, heck, we didn’t even really want to get off the couch!
So, we did what any ranch kid would do 😂😂😂
We grabbed our .22’s
Loaded them, and ran like hell back to the house, just in time for our parents to pull up and to ask why the heck we were running around with our guns
I don’t remember actually getting in too much trouble cause of it, but man that was a crazy day
The next day we rescued a kid goat that was all cut up from razor wire
We were afraid it was a Graboid, and we were only walking around with BB guns
So we were scared to death, as it was just the 2 of us on the other side of the ranch
Man where those years crazy…
Everyone from that old town is gone now
Everyone I knew anyways, my family left for Houston, my dad got a good job over there and built my mom her dream house
So strange growing up…
Heck, that old dusty town isn’t what it used to be, it’s an oil town now
Most of the farmers sold out to some big oil tycoon
At least he built a little reserve
But now there is a McDonald’s, a whataburger, a sonic…
I remember when it was just a DQ, and that little Mexican place
Geez this movie held a lot of memories
Sorry for anyone who read all this, ig I just felt like I needed to type out my thoughts
This movie is hilarious tho
That stampede bit at the start really sets the mood
Even tho it’s a freaky movie as a kid, as an adult it’s freaking hilarious
Lmao!! Kevin Bacon is the greatest!
1:48: "My hat blew off!" "I hope your goddamn head was still in it"
mkend3 "Hi Buford!"
"Hello you handsome sumbitch!"

Seeing the horse having the thing on it and it dying made me want to cry bc i love animals and the horse was so cute

R.I.P Fred Ward❤️
I have this movie in good memory but FFS 1:39 - a firearm is not an empty lighter!
Considering the average effectiveness of firearms against graboids, dropping it for more speed was a better idea.
To this day I still feel nervous having to walk across an open field.
This movie and killer Klowns from outer space will always be childhood memories for me :D
1:30 predator screams in pain.
Thanks for the great movie, Fred. RIP Sir

One of the most Fun movies of all time! Seriously.. this will keep you so gripped it's insanely addictive!
at 1:30 you can hear a scream that was also used in Predator 2 the same year when he gets that disc blade in his chest
ToiletClogger1945 oh yeah
i've been looking for this movie for years 😂😂 it's been so long
That’s actual terror on Kevin Bacon’s face when the Graboid pops out of the ground, apparently these things (and the film as a whole) scared him so much he had real bad Nightmares for weeks.
"Yea yea what about my horse!??" "What in the name of!!!?" Hahaha he was so scared he couldn't even finish what he was saying!
2:24 me when playing "wehappyfew"
This very scene is used appropriately at the beginning of the 2002 HBO movie "Live From Baghdad."
A packed movie theater is watching the movie "Tremors" when suddenly they hear the sounds of gunfire and explosions right at the moment when the ground lifts beneath Kevin Bacon's feet. The scared crowd runs out of theater and it's then revealed that this is Kuwait City August 2, 1990, and a real-life monster from the desert is now invading their country.
I love these small town movies

Talk about a film with the most quotable lines in film history...
Most memorable line, and the one Kevin Bacon's character Valentine sold me on.
